Recycling at Home Items Accepted CONTAINERS Cans beverage and food. Bottles glass and plastic. Jars glass, metal and plastic. Beverage cartons milk, juice, soup, etc. Rinse all containers. Contact your recycling hauler about leaving caps/lids on containers. PAPER AND BOXES Mail, catalogs and phone books. Magazines and newspapers (with inserts). Office, school and scrap papers. Cardboard boxes (all types) flatten to fit in cart. Paper towel and toilet paper tubes. Cardboard cans (chips, nuts, oatmeal). This is a general guideline. Many communities accept additional materials for recycling. Contact your city or recycling hauler for more information. Please do not put these items in your recycling cart. Products are available on a first-come, first-served basis and selection will vary. Must be 8 years or older. Types of Products Available Automotive products, oil, antifreeze, motor additives. Charcoal lighter fluid, camp stove fluid. Driveway and roof sealers. Fertilizers. Household cleaners, polishes, waxes. Paint and spray paint. Paint solvents, cleaners, turpentine, paint thinners. Light Bulbs and Paint Safe Disposal of Your Energy-Saving Light Bulbs Energy-saving light bulbs are good for the environment and your wallet, plus they can be recycled. Bring them to a Ramsey County HHW collection site (see pages 6-9) or check with a local hardware store. Here are the types to recycle: Fluorescent bulbs of all shapes and sizes. High-intensity discharge lamps (HID). Neon lights of all shapes and sizes. LED lights of all shapes and sizes. Incandescent light bulbs are safe to throw in the trash. Do you only have paint to recycle? There are several options for recycling unwanted latex and oil-based paint. Find a participating paint store at PaintCare.org. Did You Know? 9 Electronics Recycling Recycle These Electronics Know What to Throw. TVs and computer monitors with a CRT (cathode ray tube) contain toxic substances like lead.
