1 System Overview DEMA 832 LAUNDRY MASTER TM INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS The DEMA 832 Laundry Master is designed for long reliable use with simplicity in mind for both the installer and user. The system is based on the reliable DEMA peristaltic pump that is installed in a lockable stainless steel case. The Laundry Master Remote Controller allows programming and the ability to visually monitor the status of the Laundry Master. The pumps are available with two different motor/gear box speeds, 60 and 105 RPM, and two different sizes C2 and C4. The C2 models have the ability to be stacked to supply to chemical products with one motor/gear box. It is possible to have up to 4 pumps on one unit. There is a circuit board, which accepts trigger signals from the laundry machine to control the operation of the pump. All units are equipped with a built in transformer with primary voltages of 120, 208, and 240 at 50/60Hz. Please read all instructions before proceeding with Laundry Master installation. Laundry Room Survey A complete survey of the laundry room or sight installation should be completed in advance of starting the Laundry Master installation. 1. Locate the power connection points on the laundry machine. This power must be between 95 and 250 volts 50/60Hz. 2. Select location to mount the Laundry Master on a wall that will allow access to the chemical product containers and the chemical product feeds points on the laundry machine. Laundry Master should be kept away from moisture releasing machinery and from water being splashed on the unit. 3. Mount the Laundry Master on a wall by use of the screws, wall anchors and mounting bracket kit that is included. Evaluate the wall condition to assure that the supplied wall anchors are suitable, it may be necessary to use other hardware to mount the Laundry Master properly. The key shaped holes are on 6 inch centers. Electrical Installation All installations must be in accordance with city, county, state or provincial electrical codes and be performed by a certified electrician. For questions, please contact local licensed electrical contractor. 1. BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHER, ALL ELECTRICAL POWER MUST BE TURNED OFF TO THE LAUNDRY MACHINE AND ANY OTHER CIRCUIT THAT IS TO BE I-682 Pg. 1 of 6

2 USED FOR THIS INSTALLATION. LOCKOUT AND TAG PROCEDURES SHOULD BE OBSERVED WHEN INSTALLING THIS DEVICE. NEVER OPEN THE LAUNDRY MASTER UNLESS POWER HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. SIGNALS MAY BE PRESENT FROM LAUNDRY MACHINE, EVEN WITH THE LAUNDRY MASTER POWER TURNED OFF. ONLY USE ELECTRICAL CODE APPROVED INSULATED WIRING AND ELECTRICAL FIXTURES WITH THIS INSTALLATION. 2. Connect the power to the Laundry Master. This may be 120VAC, 208VAC or 240VAC. Power should be applied to Laundry Master anytime the laundry machine is on. Some laundry machines have a terminal block setup for power, see schematic or owners manual for the specific machine being used. Locate the power terminal block inside the Laundry Master enclosure. Connect hot or live wire to the terminal labeled line. Connect the return line to the appropriate terminal block position based on supply voltage. The earth ground wire must be connected to one of the transformer screws by use of a grounding clip (supplied in installation kit). The power line should be secured by use of proper electrical fitting through access hole in Laundry Master enclosure. The power line must also be secured properly between the laundry machine or power source and Laundry Master. 3. Connect the trigger signals from the laundry machine to the Laundry Master. The trigger signal may be between 24VAC and 240VAC. Some laundry machines are equipped with a terminal block that is designed to feed this signal. Locate the trigger connection points on the circuit board inside the Laundry Master enclosure. Run appropriate wiring between the laundry machine trigger connection points and the Laundry Master trigger connection points. Trigger lines should be properly secured by use of proper electrical fitting through access hole in Laundry Master enclosure. The signal line must be properly secured between the laundry machine and Laundry Master enclosure. 4. Determine the best location to mount the On-Premise Laundry Controller, keep in mind that the supplied RJ45 patch cord that links the controller to the Laundry Master is approximately 20 ft in length. The mounting can be completed by use of the supplied self- adhesive velcro patch. After mounting the controller, connect the RJ45 patch cord to both the controller and the I/O board. Feed patch cord through one the universal bushing on the bottom of the Laundry Master enclosure when connecting to the I/O board. Coil and secure and excess patch cord. 5. See note labeled flush switch below. If using a flush manifold, the solenoid valve that supplies the manifold must be rated for 24V DC. The valve should be connected to the number 7 output on the Laundry Master control board. In addition, a manifold flush switch must be wired to the terminals labeled FSW1 and SCOM on the Laundry Master control board. Flush Switch: When a flush manifold is not used, step number 5 can be skipped. However, it is essential that a jumper be connected between the FSW1 and SCOM terminals on the Laundry Master control board. Some Laundry Masters have a jumper in place. Examine the unit to be installed to assure that it has the jumper installed. Without the jumper, the Laundry Master pumps will not run. Note: The patch cord is a communication link between the Laundry Master I/O board and the On-Premise Laundry Controller and can be subjected to electrical interference I-682 Pg. 2 of 6

3 when not installed properly. When securing the RJ45 patch cord between the On- Premise Laundry Controller and the Laundry Master, avoid sharpedges, electrical motors and relays, additionally do not run parallel to electrical power lines and conduit. Bleach Pump Wiring Bleach defeat allows the user to eliminate bleach from a wash formula with the push of a button the Laundry Master remote control. This does not affect the program and is easily noticed with on the remote control by a light labeled Bleach Defeat. When it is necessary to utilize the bleach defeat function that is available on the electronic controls of the DEMA 832 Laundry Master the following wiring procedure will need to be completed. With the Laundry Master enclosure open, locate the wiring of the pump that will supply the bleach. Unhook the red and black wire of that pump from the circuit board output terminal. Locate the number 3 output terminals, there should be a positive and negative terminal available. Hook the red wire of the bleach pump to the positive terminal, and the black wire to the negative terminal. The input signal for the bleach should be hooked to the number 3 input terminal as well. Remember that the number 3 pump will be your bleach pump for programming purposes. Tubing Connections ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EYEWEAR WHEN WORKING WITH CHEMICALS. Included in the installation kit is a roll of LDPE tubing (20 ft per pump) to connect from the chemical container, via the pump, and to the fittings on the machine. For identification purposes, the pumps are identified as 1 on the left side and 2 on the right side. Note that if a bleach defeat function is required, the bleach pump will need to be rewired (see electrical section of this instruction sheet). Included is a sheet of product labels that can be adhered to the Laundry Master or any other useful places to identify the product that each pump is supplying. Measure the length of the tubing needed for the suction side from the chemical container to the inlet of pump and cut the tubing to the proper length. The 10 pickup tubes may be used with a 1 gallon buckets of chemical products. Feed the LDPE tubing through the compression nut and sleeve and into the pick-up tube until LDPE tubing is about a ¼ from the bottom of pickup tube (LDPE tubing should not stick out through the bottom of pickup tube). Tighten compression nut to secure LDPE tubing. Route the tubing to the suction side of the pump and insert into squeeze tube approximately ½. Secure the tubing together by tightening a cable tie around the squeeze tube. Use the same procedure on the outlet of the squeeze tubing and route the LDPE tubing to the injection feed points of the machine. Cut off all excess tubing and keep tubing away from hot surfaces and sharp edges to prevent damage or leakage. At this point the Laundry Master installation is complete. I-682 Pg. 3 of 6

4 Programming 1. The Laundry Master will not go into the program mode while an input signal is received to the control card. Check the input active LED to determine if the control card is receiving a signal. 2. The programming mode can only be accessed with the controller set to the following conditions: a) Pump 5 b) Formula 8 c) Bleach Defeat ON 3. Access the programming mode by pressing the mode button. 6. Press the formula button to select the formula you wish to re-program. 7. Press the pump button to select the pump you wish to re-program. The Run light should be on. 8. Press and hold in the set button for the amount of time that you want to pump to run. If you do not want the pump to run while programming time, use the arrow buttons to set the amount of time you wish the pump to run. The time displayed is in seconds. 9. Press the mode button and the delay light should be on. The time displayed is in seconds. 10. Press the arrow buttons to make adjustments to the delay time. 11. Repeat steps 5 thru 8 for programming the other pump. 12. Press the mode button to return to the operational mode. 13. The load count will always operate on the last pump indicated on the display when switching from prog to run. To reset the load count to zero, go back into the programming mode (steps 2 and 3) and leave, after approximately 2 minutes the unit will default back to run and the count will be zero. 14. Check to assure that the bleach defeat is off. Operation Formula Bleach Defeat To change formula press the formula button until desired formula is set. Press the bleach defeat button and the bleach defeat LED should be illuminated, meaning that pump 3 will not run the next time it receives a signal. Simply press the bleach defeat again to turn it off, the LED should not be illuminated. I-682 Pg. 4 of 6

5 Prime Check Stop To prime a pump or line, first select pump by pressing pump button until the desired pump number is displayed. Then by pressing the prime button that pump will run as long as the button is held down. To check a pump delivery, first select a pump be pressing the pump button. Then select the formula by pressing the formula button. Press the check button and the pump should run for the programmed amount of time. The stop function is used to stop the Laundry Master during an operation. When activated the Laundry Master will reset and wait for another signal before restarting. The user of the Laundry Master needs only to select the formula and the bleach condition and operation is ready. This limited warranty does no apply to any products, which have a normal life shorter than one year or failure and damage caused by chemicals, corrosion, improper voltage supply, physical abuse, or misapplication. Rubber and synthetic rubber parts such as O rings, diaphragms, squeeze tubing and gaskets are considered expendable and are not covered under warranty. This warranty is extended only to the original buyer of DEMA products. If products are altered or repaired without prior approval of DEMA, this warranty is void. Return Policy No merchandise may be returned for credit without the written permission of DEMA Engineering Company. A return merchandise authorization (RMA) number is required in advance of return.
