YOU ARE ENTERING A ZERO WASTE SCHOOL Where every student, teacher and staff member strives to be a responsible steward of the planet by practicing the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. 1. Please dispose your discards responsibly in the designated Zero Waste Zones all over campus. 2. Do not put any food, liquids or hazardous substances in our blue recycling bins. 3. Please help us by diverting corrugated cardboard; white and mixed paper; aluminum, glass, plastic, and metal containers away from the landfill. 4. Your support and cooperation has allowed us to make the following difference to our planet.

PHASE 1 INCREASING THE RECYCLING RATE FOR PAPER, CARDBOARD, BOTTLES AND CANS.

STEP 1 : INCREASE CLASSROOM RECYCLING 15 pounds of GOOS Paper in the Recycling Stream Roll of unused paper in the recycling stream Have boxes for GOOS (Good On Other Side) Paper in all classrooms and offices That would save 3 reams of paper every day for the school

PHASE 1 - STEPS STEP 1 - Set up 1 Recycling Zone in every classroom. Each Classroom Recycling Zone to have: A trash bin - LANDFILL a blue bin for paper and non-crv recyclables, and, A tote bag for CRV Actual receptacles will vary based on existing school bins, incremental costs and school preferences

PHASE 1 STEP 2 - Set up 2 Recycling Zones on every floor; one on each end of the hallway. Each Recycling Zone to have: a blue recycling cart for paper and non-crv recyclables; a blue bin for bottles and cans

PHASE 1 STEP 3 - Designate Recycling Zones as needed- all over campus, including lunch areas. Each Recycling Zone to have: a blue bin for paper and mixed recyclables; a blue bin for bottles and cans; A trash bin for landfill items Actual receptacles will vary based on existing school bins, incremental costs and school preferences

Recycling manager will empty the classroom recycling receptacles into the closest recycling zones on their floor Custodian will empty the recycling bins on the floors and outdoors on campus periodically into the recycling dumpster.

Phase 1 15 minute classroom presentations to educate students on what is and isn t recyclable; how the program works and what are recycling manners Mrs. McDonald s recycling team/ ASB students to keep track of how much paper, plastic and metal has been diverted and update the footprint chart for the school

FOOTPRINT CHART WE SEND 124 TONS OF MATERIALS TO THE LANDFILL EVERY YEAR. THAT'S LIKE SENDING 41 ELEPHANTS TO THE LANDFILL EACH YEAR RECYCLING ON OUR CAMPUS COULD HELP SAVE 778 TREES RUN COMPUTERS FOR ALL STUDENTS IN SCHOOL FOR 362 DAYS SAVE FUEL TO RUN 31 CARS FOR A YEAR SAVE WATER TO RUN WASHER LOADS
