3 NOTICE OF LETTING LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT PRE-PURCHASE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: Sealed proposals will be received by the Purchasing Agent of the Des Moines Independent Community School District at his office, Des Moines Independent Community School District 1915 Prospect Road, Suite 1200, Des Moines, Iowa until three o'clock p.m. on the 11th day of April, 2016, for the pre-purchase of the following mechanical equipment for a mechanical upgrade project at Lincoln High School. Bid No. B7427 Condensing Boilers Bid No. B7428 Fuel Fired Domestic Water Heaters Bid No. B7429 Pool Heater Commencing March 30, 2016 copies of the bid documents are on file with and available from the Des Moines Public Schools 1917 Dean Avenue Des Moines, Iowa Bids must be submitted on the approved bid form available in the bid packet. No oral, facsimile, telegraphic or telephonic bids or modifications will be considered. Lump-sum bids will be received as indicated in the scope of work. Bids will be opened and read aloud immediately after specified closing time for receiving bids. All interested parties are invited to attend. Consideration of the bids received and the award of bids or other action may be made by the Board of Directors of the Des Moines Independent Community School District upon the proposals received in accordance with the law and the bid documents at its meeting to be held at 6:00 p.m. on April 19, 2016 in the District Board Room at 1800 Grand Avenue Des Moines Iowa or at any other published and/or posted location of the Board meeting. The Board of Directors may make the award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder meeting specifications. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such purchase orders as shall be deemed in the best interests of the Des Moines Independent Community School District. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa domestic labor. Submit a signed quotation on the attached bid form. Bids are due at the time and location listed in the Notice of Letting. Include the completed TSB form, the Non Collusion Form and the Bidders Status Form with the bid. 2. Questions shall be directed in writing to douglas.ohde@dmschools.org 3. The successful firm will be notified on April 20, The District will make award to bidders for each of the different bids separately or the District at its discretion can award more than one bid to a supplier based upon low combination pricing provided. 5. A purchase order for each award will be provided from the Des Moines Public Schools. Exclude all State of Iowa sales taxes and use taxes from your proposal. The District will provide a tax exempt certificate with the purchase order. 6. No bid bonds, performance bonds, or payment bonds are required. 7. All bids shall include freight charges for delivery free on board trucks at Lincoln High School 2600 SW 9 th Street, Des Moines Iowa for unloading by the district s contractor. 8. The District will pay for stored equipment in a bonded warehouse in Des Moines upon evidence that the full value is covered by insurance. If the equipment is temporarily stored, the quote shall include the costs to deliver the equipment on trucks to Lincoln High School.

The start of an overall one year warranty period for all equipment shall be the date of substantial completion of the mechanical contract in mid fall of Extended warranties shall be as indicated in each specification section and the warranty period shall also start at the date of substantial completion. 10. The mechanical equipment shall be available for delivery to the school on June 15, Delivery date shall be confirmed on the bid form where indicated. 11. The price shall include all submittals for approval by the mechanical engineers KPE Engineering 12. Awarded bidder shall coordinate with the selected mechanical contractor by providing submittals, delivery coordination, and field requirements. 13. Coordinate sizes and locations of concrete bases with actual equipment provided. 1.8 WARRANTY A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of fuel-fired, pool heaters that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. 1. Venting: Direct Vent appliance with sealed combustion, intake and exhaust piping. 7. Automatic Ignition: Manufacturer's proprietary system for automatic, gas ignition. 8. Temperature Control: Adjustable thermostat. 9. Mixing valve: Integral valve with controls to maintain minimum water temperature entering heat exchanger. C. Integral pump allowing for circulation of pool water through heater. 2. Pump shall be part of the pool heater and wired for control. 2.2 SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL A. Factory Tests: Test and inspect assembled pool heaters specified to be ASME-code construction, according to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. B. Hydrostatically test commercial pool heaters to minimum of one and one-half times pressure rating before shipment. C. Prepare test and inspection reports. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 POOL HEATER INSTALLATION A. Commercial, Pool Heater Mounting: Install commercial pool heaters on concrete base. 1. Exception: Omit concrete bases for commercial pool heaters if installation on stand, bracket, suspended platform, or directly on floor is indicated. 2. Maintain manufacturer's recommended clearances. 3. Arrange units so controls and devices that require servicing are accessible. 4. Install dowel rods to connect concrete base to concrete floor. Unless otherwise indicated, install dowel rods on 18-inch centers around the full perimeter of concrete base. 5. For supported equipment, install epoxy-coated anchor bolts that extend through concrete base and anchor into structural concrete floor.

18 POOL HEATER LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL PRE-PURCHASE Place and secure anchorage devices. Use setting drawings, templates, diagrams, instructions, and directions furnished with items to be embedded. 7. Install anchor bolts to elevations required for proper attachment to supported equipment. 8. Anchor pool heaters to substrate. B. Install pool heaters level and plumb, according to layout drawings, original design, and referenced standards. Maintain manufacturer's recommended clearances. Arrange units so controls and devices needing service are accessible. C. Install gas-fired, pool heaters according to NFPA Install gas shutoff valves on gas supply piping to gas-fired, pool heaters without shutoff valves. 2. Install gas pressure regulators on gas supplies to gas-fired, pool heaters without gas pressure regulators if gas pressure regulators are required to reduce gas pressure at burner. 3. Install automatic gas valves on gas supplies to gas-fired, pool heaters if required for operation of safety control. 4. Comply with requirements for gas shutoff valves, gas pressure regulators, and automatic gas valves specified in Section "Facility Natural-Gas Piping." D. Install combination temperature-and-pressure relief valves in water piping for pool heaters without storage. Extend commercial-water-heater relief-valve outlet, with drain piping same as domestic-water piping in continuous downward pitch, and discharge by positive air gap onto closest floor drain. E. Install pool heater drain piping as indirect waste to spill by positive air gap into open drains or over floor drains. Install hose-end drain valves at low points in water piping for pool heaters that do not have tank drains. F. Install thermometer on outlet piping of pool heaters. G. Fill pool heaters with water. 3.2 CONNECTIONS A. Comply with requirements for gas piping specified in Section "Facility Natural-Gas Piping." B. Drawings indicate general arrangement of piping, fittings, and specialties. C. Where installing piping adjacent to fuel-fired, pool heaters, allow space for service and maintenance of pool heaters. Arrange piping for easy removal of pool heaters. 3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. Perform tests and inspections. 1. Manufacturer's Field Service: Engage a factory-authorized service representative to inspect components, assemblies, and equipment installations, including connections, and to assist in testing. 2. Leak Test: After installation, charge system and test for leaks. Repair leaks and retest until no leaks exist.

19 POOL HEATER LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL PRE-PURCHASE Operational Test: After electrical circuitry has been energized, start units to confirm proper operation. 4. Test and adjust controls and safeties. Replace damaged and malfunctioning controls and equipment. B. Prepare test and inspection reports. 3.4 DEMONSTRATION A. Engage a factory-authorized service representative to train Owner's maintenance personnel to adjust, operate, and maintain gas-fired, pool heaters. END OF SECTION

Commercial, Domestic-Water Heater Mounting: Install commercial domestic-water heaters on concrete base. 1. Exception: Omit concrete bases for commercial domestic-water heaters if installation on stand, bracket, suspended platform, or directly on floor is indicated. 2. Maintain manufacturer's recommended clearances. 3. Arrange units so controls and devices that require servicing are accessible. 4. Install dowel rods to connect concrete base to concrete floor. Unless otherwise indicated, install dowel rods on 18-inch centers around the full perimeter of concrete base. 5. For supported equipment, install epoxy-coated anchor bolts that extend through concrete base and anchor into structural concrete floor. 6. Place and secure anchorage devices. Use setting drawings, templates, diagrams, instructions, and directions furnished with items to be embedded. 7. Install anchor bolts to elevations required for proper attachment to supported equipment. 8. Anchor domestic-water heaters to substrate. B. Install domestic-water heaters level and plumb, according to layout drawings, original design, and referenced standards. Maintain manufacturer's recommended clearances. Install water-heater drain piping as indirect waste to spill by positive air gap into open drains or over floor drains. Install hose-end drain valves at low points in water piping for domestic-water heaters that do not have tank drains. Controllers, Electrical Devices, and Wiring: Electrical devices and connections are specified in electrical Sections. B. Single-Point Field Power Connection: Factory-installed and -wired switches, motor controllers, transformers, and other electrical devices necessary shall provide a single-point field power connection to boiler. 1. House in NEMA 250, Type 1 enclosure. 2. Wiring shall be numbered and color coded to match wiring diagram. 3. Install factory wiring outside of an enclosure in a metal raceway. 4. Provide branch power circuit to each motor and to controls with a disconnect switch or circuit breaker. 5. Provide each motor with overcurrent protection. 2.7 VENTING KITS A. Kit: Complete system, per manufacturer s recommendations. 2.8 SOURCE QUALITY CONTROL A. Burner and Hydrostatic Test: Factory adjust burner to eliminate excess oxygen, carbon dioxide, oxides of nitrogen emissions, and carbon monoxide in flue gas and to achieve combustion efficiency; perform hydrostatic test. B. Test and inspect factory-assembled boilers, before shipping, according to 2010 ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. C. Allow Owner access to source quality-control testing of boilers. Notify Architect 14 days in advance of testing. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Comply with requirements for equipment bases. B. Install gas-fired boilers according to NFPA 54. C. Assemble and install boiler trim. D. Install electrical devices furnished with boiler but not specified to be factory mounted. E. Install control wiring to field-mounted electrical devices. 3.3 CONNECTIONS A. Piping installation requirements are specified in other Sections. Drawings indicate general arrangement of piping, fittings, and specialties. B. Install piping adjacent to boiler to allow service and maintenance. C. Install piping from equipment drain connection to nearest floor drain. Piping shall be at least full size of connection. Provide an isolation valve if required. D. Connect piping to boilers, except safety relief valve connections, with flexible connectors of materials suitable for service. Flexible connectors and their installation are specified in Section "Hydronic Piping Specialties." E. Connect gas piping to boiler gas-train inlet with union.
