SAFETY CAUTIONS FOR REPAIRING When you repair the refrigerator, please kindly take care for the following cautions. 1.1 Warning Before repairing unit, unplug supply cord Before you repair the refrigerator, please unplug the supply cord. Use authentic parts when repairing When you replace the parts, please use authentic parts to replace defective parts. Caution during brazing When you use touch for brazing, please ensure ventilation. Otherwise, you will be poisoned by carbon monoxide. Pay attention to using refrigerant If refrigerant touches fire, the gas becomes poisonous gas. Pay attention to getting electricity shock When you check the voltage of terminal, please do not touch the electricity part terminal. When you replace the parts, please wait for 3 minutes at least for discharging capacitor. Check safety after repairing Check the screws, parts, lead wires to take in place. Check the repairing portion whether circumferential parts are damaged or not. Check insulation resistance between supply plug and earth. When install refrigerator, check condition of supply cord and plug. Wipe off the dust on plug. Cutting and seal the electric device carefully. 1.2 Caution Watch the hot parts During operation and after operation, compressor and pipes are hot. Also, under these condition, heater are hot. Do not burn your fingers when you touch it. Pay attention to refrigerant Do not touch liquid refrigerant. Otherwise your hands may be burnt. Pay attention to edge of parts Otherwise, your fingers may be cut. Pay attention to fins of evaporator and condenser Otherwise, your fingers may be cut. IC indicates Self Diagnosing sign. 4 IC cancels to stop compressor. Normal operating? 5 After restarting, does Stop compressor occure 10 times within 2 min? IC continues to stop compressor until 1 hour. IC indicates Self Diagnosing sign. 6 IC cancels to stop compressor. 9 5.3 Protection for power supply droping 1 Does power supply voltage drop as condition > 0.1 sec. and < 160V AC? 10 6. SELF DIAGSING FUNCTION When abnormalist is cased in the refrigerator, the sign is displayed on LED as below chart. How to use Self Diagnosing function 1. Opening PC door and FC door, Push Quick Freezing bottom more than 5 sec. 2. After blinking at sec., each LED show as below. 3. Self Diagnosing function will be automatically cancel after 7 min., from start operation. 11 7. TEMPERATURE CONTROL Sliding the lever to operate the REFRIGERATOR CONTROL when changing the temperature of refrigerator compartment. TEMP. How to operate the 9 levels mode This refrigerator is specially designed with adjustable temperature levels using 9 different temperature levels as explained below: 1 Set the LED display to the Min position by touching the Freezer Control button. 2 Touch and hold the Freezer Control button for 10 seconds until the LED display is at the Min position. 3 Use the Freezer Control button to set the required temperature mode, where one step is the minimum cooling mode and nine step is the maximum cooling mode. OPERATION 8.1 Quick Freezing How to operate the Quick Freezing mode LED Display "Blue light LED" Freezer Control Quick Freezing Quick Freezing button Touch the Quick Freezing button, the Blue light LED turns on (150 min. Quick Freezing mode). The Quick Freezing operation will automatically stop after 150 min. and return to normal mode. (The Blue light LED will turn off). Notes To stop the Quick Freezing operation, touch the Quick Freezing button. A flashing Blue light LED indicates the defrosting system is active. The Quick Freezing operation will start right after the defrosting operation is finished. The Freezer temperature control will not operate during Quick Freezing mode as the compressor is already at maximum operating levels for the Quick Freezing mode. 8.2 ECONAVI Operation The refrigerator detects the opening and closing of the refrigerator door and the brightness around the refrigerator to automatically control operation to ensure maximum energy saving.* 1 ECONAVI lamp is on during ECONAVI operation ECONAVI mode: The refrigerator learns the lifestyle patterns of your family from door opening and time periods of infrequent use to maximise energy efficiency. Notices The refrigerator learns your lifestyle patterns from the previous 3 weeks of use and uses that data from the 4 th week onwards. Therefore the ECONAVI lamp ON/ OFF pattern may change from the 4 th week onwards. The refrigerator performs the ECONAVI energy saving operation when it becomes dark* 2 around the refrigerator such as overnight when you are asleep. The brightness of the ECONAVI lamp is lowered approximately 5 minutes after it is lit. Settings for enabling ECONAVI operation ECONAVI operation is automatically enabled when the temperature control for the freezer compartment is set to Med. ECONAVI mode does not operate if the Quick Freezing mode is in operation. It is not possible to force to start of the ECONAVI mode. ECONAVI lamp Light intensity sensor Remark * 1 The effectiveness of the ECONAVI mode is dependant on the ambient temperature, ambient brightness and the number of times the refrigerator door is opened and closed and the state in which food is stored. * 2 Darkness is detected by the light intensity sensor at approximately 3 lx to 10 lx or less

13 9. TROUBLESHOOTING In these cases? The refrigerator does not operate. The refrigerator does not cool enough. Vapor generated inside and outside the cabinet / surface of door. The refrigerator generates noise. Food becomes frozen ECONAVI does not operate. (the ECONAVI lamp does not light) ECONAVI operation is rarely performed. ECONAVI operation is stopped part way though. ECONAVI operation is performed too often (the ECONAVI lamp rarely turns off). Check here. Check that the plug and wall socket are in good condition. Check if there is any problem with the mains fuse or house wiring. Check by unplugging for 10 minutes and plugging back in. Check to be sure that the temperature control lever is at the proper position. (P.11) Check to ensure that the refrigerator is not overloaded with foodstuffs or that hot foodstuffs have been placed in the refrigerator. Is the refrigerator exposed to direct sunlight or a heat source? Is the refrigerator door completely closed? Is the refrigerator door opened frequently? Condensation may appear on the surface of the cabinet when humidity is high or air circulation around the unit is poor. If there is condensation inside, check if the door is completely closed. Is the refrigerator frequently opened or left open for a long time? Have any hot foodstuffs been placed inside the refrigerator? Check if the refrigerator is located on a stable, level floor and is installed correctly. Use the adjustable bolt if required to level the refrigerator. Check if there is any object in contact with the refrigerator. Cracking sound within caused by the parts adjusting temperature which is normal. Was the food placed near the cold air duct? If the temperature control has been set to Max try adjusting the temperature control to the Min setting. Has the food been placed in the chilled case? Has the Quick Freezing mode been activated? (P.12) Is the temperature setting of the freezer compartment set to something other than Med? Has the door been opened frequently or has hot food been placed in the refrigerator? The learning function may automatically disable ECONAVI operation during times of frequent use. Is there a power failure? If a power failure occurs, the learning function data collected up until the point of power failure will be lost. The ECONAVI operation will rarely be performed until the learning function has collected data again. If the auto defrost function is turned on during ECONAVI operation, the normal cooling operation will need to be performed after defrost. Therefore the ECONAVI operation may be stopped during this defrost/ cooling process. The learning function may sometimes restart the normal cooling operation. Is the light intensity sensor hidden? Are there dirt or scratches on the control panel where the light intensity sensor is located? ECONAVI operation may be performed while the refrigerator is being used depending on the conditions of use, but the cooling performance is maintained

14 10. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE 10.1 Not cool at all [ Both PC & FC (compressor does not operate) ] 1 Does room light turn on? Check power supply. Ex. Connect power cord in inlet Ex. Check ELCB Defect of over load relay. Ex. Does fuse blow? Check control PCB. Ex. Does fuse blow? Ex. Defect of IC, Diode, etc. 2 Pushing PC door switch and room light turns off, and after release PC door switch, does room light turn on? Defect of control PCB. Defect PC door switch. 3 To start self diagnosing function by opening PC door and FC door and pushing Quick Freezing SW for 5 seconds. 4 Does ECONAVI Led and Quick Freezing blink? Defect of control PCB. Communication error 5 Does the ECONAVI Led turn on and Quick Freezing blinking? Defect of control PCB. Abnormal connecting of compressor. Compressor lock. Chock. Leakage. Droping voltage of power supply. Rising voltage of power supply. 6 Does the ECONAVI Led turn off and Quick Freezing blink? Break FC thermistor. Poor connection between FC thermistor and PCB. 7 Does the ECONAVI Led turn off, Quick Freezing turn off and Freezer Control LED MAX blink? Gas leakage at high pressure side. Poor compression. Defect of control PCB. 8 Does the ECONAVI Led turn off, Quick Freezing turn off and Freezer Control LED MIN blink? Gas leakage at low pressure side. Defect of control PCB. Faulty compressor motor. Compressor lock

15 10.2 Cool, not enough [ Both PC & FC (compressor operates) ] To confirm when compressor is operating. 1 When FC door opens and FC door SW pushes, does cold air spout out from exhaust? Defect of FC fan motor. Poor connection between FC fan motor and IC 1 on PCB. Defect of FC door SW. 2 When PC door opens and PC door SW pushes, does cold air spout out from exhaust? Defect of damper. Defect of PC door SW. 3 To start self diagnosing function by opening PC door and FC door and pushing Quick Freezing SW for 5 seconds. 4 Does ECONAVI Led and Quick Freezing turn on? Defect of FC fan motor. Poor connection between FC fan motor and IC 1 on PCB. 4 Does ECONAVI Led turn off and Quick Freezing blinking? Break of FCC thermistor. Poor connection between FCC thermistor and IC 1 on PCB. Abnormal of spec of DFC thermistor. * Resistor of thermistor is bigger as like as KΩ at 0 C 5 Does ECONAVI Led turn off and Quick Freezing turn on? 6 Does thermal fuse blow out? Short of DFC thermistor. Poor connection between DFC thermistor and IC 1 on PCB. Break of DFC thermistor. Poor connection between FFC thermistor and IC 1 on PCB. 7 Does ECONAVI Led turn off and Quick Freezing turn off? 8 Does thermal fuse blow out? Break of DFC thermistor. Defect of PCB as like as defect of relay, etc. Termal fuse blows. Abnormal of spec of DFC thermistor. * When resistor of thermistor is bigger as like as KΩ at 0 C, there is some case to blow thermal fuse out due to becoming defrost time longer. 9 Does ECONAVI Led and Quick Freezing blink? Defect of communication circuit and EEPROM circuit of control PCB. Plug out and after 7 minute plug in again

16 To confirm when compressor is operating.! Does frost adhere to evaporator much? Gap of door. Defect of control PCB. " Does the ECONAVI Led turn off, Quick Freezing turn off and Freezer Control LED MAX blinking? Gas leakage at high pressure side. Poor compression. Defect of control PCB. # Does the ECONAVI Led turn off, Quick Freezing turn off and Freezer Control LED MIN blinking? Gas leakage at low pressure side. Defect of control PCB

17 10.3 ECONAVI operation doesn t work (PC/FC/IC cooling condition is normal) 1 Is the temperature control set to { 2 (Middle) } for FC? FC set to { 2 (Middle) } 2 Does LED indicate ECONAVI Led or Quick Freezing or Freezer Control LED lighting and blinking? Some LED indicator is displayed on the notice indicator area, ECONAVI will not operate. 3 Does Quick Freezing function operating? The internal temperature is high, ECONAVI will not operate. 4 Is the FC temperature -17 C or below? Quick Freezing is operating, ECONAVI will not operate. 5 Does Freezer Control LED turn on MAX blink? Faulty operation panel PCB. 6 Press Freezer button 5 seconds. Turn off setting Unlit (ECONAVI) Faulty control PCB. Faulty operation panel PCB. 7 It is normal (keep a wait and see) If it meets the above condition, ECONAVI operation begins and the lamp lights when the door opening and closing is not done for 3 hours. (with some exceptions) Test of ECONAVI operation. (Quickly confirms for turning on the { ECONAVI } lamp) White in service mode, shield the sensing part of ECONAVI sensor from the light. Keep 1 minute without door opening and closing to turn on the { ECONAVI } lamp. Precondition : The refrigerator compartment and freezer compartment are set to { 2 (Middle) }

SERVICE INFORMATION Subject : Request for level adjustment when installing a refrigerator Symptoms : Occurrence of level difference between door left and right Symptoms At first-time installation of a large-capacity refrigerator, especially that of double-door type, if the refrigerated-room door is not level due to floor uneven condition, it will cause not only poor appearance but also the following symptoms. 1 That door doesn t shut right. 2 Gap exits at the door gasket part and condensation happens inside the refrigerator. 3 When opening one door, another door might also consequently open. Request : How to Level Surface on the floor is likely to cause level difference. Therefore, please adjust the followings, when installing a refrigerator. 1 Level adjustment with adjustable legs For the details, please refer to the next page. In case the level difference problem cannot be fixed by only adjustment of adjustable legs or the caster at a refrigerator underside surface corner is still floating, please adjust by using appropriate-thickness plates. 2 Level adjustment by using appropriate-thickness plates. Turn adjustable legs of left/right sides, lower 1 them until they reach the floor surface to be fixed. 1 Turn the adjustable legs of left/right sides, set them 1 afloat from the floor surface. 2 Look and check at which (left or right) side the corner caster (rear wheel) is floating 1 3 Pull the refrigerator forward. 4 At the caster-floating side, place the plates to proper height for filling the gap between the floating caster and fl oor surface. refrigerator body wall surface If a door is hanging down, adjust by turning adjustable 2 legs to level it.
