Important Notes on Safety Instructions Read this Instruction Manual and all other relevant instructions thoroughly before handling, installing or using the product or performing maintenance or inspection work on the product, and use the product correctly. Make sure that you have acquired the necessary knowledge about the equipment and have read and understood all relevant instructions and safety information, before proceeding to use the product. The safety instructions contained herein are preceded either by the word "Danger" and the Danger symbol shown below or by the word "Caution" and the Caution symbol shown below, depending on the degree of danger that will result from failure to follow the instruction. DANGER Indicates that improper handling or use may result in a dangerous situation in which the risk of death or serious personal injury is present. CAUTION Indicates that improper handling or use may result in a dangerous situation in which the risk of medium personal injury or the risk of damage to property is present. CAUTION are less important. [Note] The above classification dose not mean that the instructions preceded by Failure to follow such instructions may also result in a serious consequence. Instructions for Installation DANGER Do not use the product in a place (medical and aerospace relation, etc.) where its failure could cause serious social problems or problems which affect human life. In case of abnormality (smell of burn), stop using the product and turn the power off. It may result in a dangerous of failure, electric shock or fire. Make sure that the source voltage dose not exceed the operation voltage. It may result in a dangerous of failure, electric shock or fire. Use of the equipment in any of the following environments may result in a failure, malfunction, electric shock or fire: an extreme high-humidity environment a corrosive gas environment a flammable gas environment a place with a risk of flammable gas leakage a place where the equipment may be exposed to conductive dust (e.g. carbon fiber dust, metal dust) CAUTION Transporting the cabinet with the equipment mounted may result in damage to the equipment. Do not subject the equipment to a shock or vibration as it is precision apparatus. Do not use the equipment with that is not an airtight cabinet. Use of the equipment in the condition of lower than the overvoltage category Ⅱ, the inside of the equipment is pollution degree 2 and the outside of the product is pollution degree 3 prescribed by IEC600-. Detach the power supply line and the earth cable of this equipment when performing the withstand voltage test to the installation cabinet. Use of the equipment at a voltage other than the rated voltage may result in a failure of the equipment. Make sure that regular checkups and maintenance are performed on the product by qualified personnel. To check the fixtures for damage after long-term use, inspect the product periodically. For cleaning or maintenance, be sure to stop the power supply by turning off the power. Turn off the power when the equipment will not be used for a long period of time. Use of the equipment in any of the following environments may result in a failure, malfunction, electric shock or fire: an extreme high-temperature environment a place with a thick dust cloud or a thick oil mist a place where the equipment may be subjected to a shock or vibration a salty environment a place where the equipment may be subjected to a noise (caused by an electric or magnetic field) Installations for use CAUTION Make sure that the installation of the equipment and all electric work are performed by qualified personnel. Strictly follow the Technical Standards for Electric Facilities and the Internal Wiring Regulations, and use only a dedicate power circuit. Install the product securely according to the Instruction Manual. Install the product on a firm foundation that can withstand the weight. Install the product on a board that can withstand earthquakes. Make sure that the equipment is installed in a place and at a height where it will not be buried under snow as a result of heavy snow. After connecting the equipment to the power source, attach the provided terminal cover to the terminal block. Be sure to ground the main unit using an earth wire. Do not use a power cable or earth wire whose diameter is smaller than the specified diameter. Be sure to install a leakage breaker to the power supply. Do not operate the switches with wet hands. It can protect built-in electronics from an obstacle by the heat and dust, realize reliability and improvement of the service life without losing the sealing up structure of the cabinet. - ３-

4 How it Works This equipment is an electronic cooling-type cooler with a built-in high-performance Peltier unit that employs an electronic cooling element and high-efficiency aluminum fins. The electronic cooling unit has internal and external fins, and efficient heat exchange between the inside and outside of the cabinet are achieved by the fans. When it operates as a cooler, the internal fan sends the warm air in the cabinet to the internal fin, which cools the warm air and sends the cooled air back into the cabinet. The heat in the cabinet is transferred from the external fin to external fan, which releases the heat into the outside atmosphere. When it operates as a heater, the internal fan sends the cool air in the cabinet to the internal fin and sends back the warm air into the cabinet. This design allows operating without compromising the air-tightness of the cabinet and thus helps protect the enclosed devices and electronics from dust and extreme temperatures. (Notes) For the wiring method refer to the "Wiring" section of this operation manual. For the test run procedure, refer to the "Test Rum Procedure" subsection of the "Operation Panel" section of this operation manual. Install the equipment after confirmation in there having been water, because dehumidified water may collect in the drain port of the product inside when I continue a Test Run for a long time. Installation Ensure to work in more than two people when transporting or installing the equipment for prevention of injury. The equipment should be mounted on a control panel, telecommunications cabinet, etc. installed in a place with an ambient temperature of 45 or less. (Notes) If the equipment is used in a place with an ambient temperature exceeding the maximum operation temperature for the equipment, an "Unguaranteed Power Supply Box " alarm will be output (displayed). If the equipment continues to be used after this alarm and the ambient temperature rises further, an "Abnormal State-Unguaranteed Power Supply Box " alarm (a self-protection function) will be output (displayed) and the equipment will stop operating. Even in the case of a place with an ambient temperature of 45 or less, install a shield (such as a thermal insulation plate or a reflector) if the equipment is to be installed at a location where it will be directly subjected to radiated heat. In addition, make sure that the intake or outlet port of the equipment is not blocked by the shield. If the equipment is to be installed in a poorly ventilated place where the ambient temperature will rise as a result of the operation of the equipment, provide appropriate means to ensure that the temperature will not exceed 45. Install the equipment on less than 2000 meter above sea level. (Note) Leaving the equipment buried under snow may result in reduced cooling power or a failure. Make sure that the equipment is installed in a place and at a height where it will not be buried under snow as a result of heavy snow. (Note) Leaving the equipment buried under snow may result in reduced cooling power or a failure. Make sure that the cabinet is kept airtight. (Note) If the cabinet is not kept airtight, reduced cooling power, condensation or Cabinet generation of drain water may result. Make sure that the equipment is installed vertically on a side surface of the cabinet. Figure (Notes) Do not mount the equipment on the ceiling surface of the cabinet. Do not subject the equipment to an impact or vibration while transporting or installing the equipment. The installation location must be such that the flows of air through the intake and outlet ports will not be obstructed and will not be closed and the discharged air will not flow directly into the intake port of the equipment. Installing the equipment at a location that does not satisfy these requirements may result in reduced cooling power and/or condensation. It is recommended that a clearance of 50mm or more is provided between the equipment and any obstacle (Fig.) The equipment should be installed at a location that allows easy checkups and cleaning of the fans. Confirm that any tilt angle in the front-rear or right-left direction is ±2 or less with a level or other suitable instrument (Fig.2). (Note) Although the equipment controls the Peltier unit in such a way that almost no drain water is generated, drain water may be generated if the equipment is operated with the cabinet door open or in a very humid place or on a cabinet having many gaps and/or holes. Make sure to install the equipment in a place where it can be easily serviced. Figure 2-４-

5 Installation Procedure Please install the equipment on the cabinet according to the following procedures :. Punch holes in the side surface of the cabinet according to the mounting dimension diagrams. (Note) If burrs were created on the mounting surface as a result of the punching work, remove them all as they will affect the dustproof and waterproof performance. 2. Apply the sealing material provided on the mounting surface. 3. Secure the equipment tightly onto the cabinet with the mounting screws (M5 x 4) provided. (Recommended tightening torque :.5 to 2.5 Nm) (Notes) () Tighten the screws until approximately 3mm of packing thickness is left. (2) Alternatively, you can first attach the provided fastening screws (M5 x 30) to the mounting nut sections (M5) of the equipment and then mount the equipment onto the cabinet with the mounting nuts (M5) provided (Fig.3). 4. Make sure that there is no space left between the mounting surface and the equipment. (Note) If there is a space left between the mounting surface and the equipment, reinforce the mounting surface. 5. Attach, as necessary, the operation instructions label provided to the inside surface of the cabinet near the equipment. 6 Wiring Power and Earth Lines Make sure that the equipment is used at the rated voltage that is specified on the nameplate (00 to 240VAC, single phase). (Notes) The operating voltage range is between 90 and 264VAC (single phase). Alarm Alarm Output Terminal Make sure that the voltage will not fluctuate out of this range even when the power source voltage fluctuates. If the voltage is different from the voltage specified on the nameplate, Power AC power source Input Terminal use a transformer. The power line must be securely connected to the specified terminal on the terminal block (M4) with a crimp terminal (having an insulation cap). (Fig 4) Protective earth terminal After connecting the power line, cover the terminal block with the terminal cover provided. Earth wire As an overload protector for the power source, install a leakage breaker designed for use near as possible as the equipment, and make sure that it can start operating anytime. In addition, do indication understanding that the leakage breaker is for power source cutting of this equipment. Figure 4 (Notes) Use a leakage breaker acquiring the standard of IEC and IEC Leakage breaker capacity : Rated current = 5A, Rated current sensitivity = 30mA Make sure that the following wire requirements are satisfied : Electrical wire: Power line :.25mm2, Earth line :.25mm2 When using the equipment in an environment where an overvoltage surge may occur due to thunder etc., install an overvoltage protection device to prevent an overvoltage surge in the equipment. Be sure to ground the main unit with the earth wire of the protective earth terminal (earth screw). (Fig 4) Alarm line Contact Resistive The equipment will output an alarm to the alarm output terminal on the Inductive capacity terminal block (no-voltage "a" contact) if a condition occurs that Voltage load load corresponds to one of the predefined abnormalities while the equipment 250VAC 2A A is in the "Alarm Output" mode. This allows you to create an alarm circuit with an external power supply and a lamp or buzzer. 30VDC 2A A The alarm circuit should be used within the contact capacity range for the alarm output terminal. The alarm line must be securely connected to the specified terminal on the terminal block (M4) with a crimp terminal (having an insulation cap). (Fig 4) After connecting the alarm line, cover the terminal block with the terminal cover provided. Operation The equipment controls its operation with a built-in control unit. The equipment starts operating when the temperature measured by the temperature sensor installed on the intake port located inside the cabinet reaches the temperature setting for the inside space of the cabinet. Settings for the Inside Space of the Cabinet Cooling ON : 20 to 45 (variable) OFF : " setting" -5K ( ) Heating ON : 5 (fixed) OFF : 5 (fixed) (Notes) Do not operate the equipment continuously for a long time on a test run. (It may cause the generation of drain water.) Do not start and stop the equipment frequently on a test run. Operation Panel The operation panel of the equipment can display the temperature of the inside space of the cabinet and allow you to specify a desired temperature or alarm temperature for the inside space of the cabinet arbitrarily in the cooler operation. In addition, you can confirm from the operation panel display the operation status of the equipment, and the types of the alarms that have been activated, if any. The display of the operation panel becomes four kinds of the following : Display Mode Test Run Setting Display Alarm Output Explanation Used on a test run to check if the equipment operates properly. Used to specify the temperature and the alarm temperature for the inside space of the cabinet and to confirm the current temperature setting(s). Normal operation (the equipment starts and stops operating based on the temperature set for the inside space of the cabinet). Display (output) an alarm if a condition occurs that corresponds to one of the predefined abnormalities. -６-

Dot (displayed only in the ( ) button ( ) button (Set) button Setting mode) Test Run Procedure To perform a cooler test run, first confirm that the equipment is not in operation and then press the ( ) and ( ) buttons simultaneously and hold them in that position for 2 seconds or more (Cooler Test Run mode). To perform a heater test run, press the ( ) and ( ) buttons simultaneously while a cooler test run is being performed and hold them in that position for 2 seconds or more (Heater Test Run mode). To stop a test run, turn off the power switch or press the ( ) and ( ) buttons again simultaneously while a heater test run is being performed and hold them in that position for 2 seconds or more. (Notes)When the equipment is placed into a Test Run mode, the Operation lamp (green) starts blinking. It blinks slowly in the Cooler Test Run mode and blinks fast in the Heater Test Run mode. If the temperature reaches the setting for the inside space of the cabinet or an alarm-triggering condition occurs while the equipment is in a Test Run mode, the test run will be terminated and the equipment will be automatically placed into the Display or Alarm Output mode, respectively. When you have stopped a test run by the above-mentioned procedure, confirm that the Operation lamp (green) has gone off. Do not operate the equipment continuously for a long time on a test run. Specifying the for the Inside Space of the Cabinet and the Alarm Please install the equipment on the cabinet according to the following procedures :. Press the (Setting) button and hold it in that position for 2 seconds or more while the equipment is in the Display mode. The XY section of the temperature display will start blinking and the. section will start lighting, to indicate that the equipment is now in the Setting mode. 2. Press the ( ) or ( ) button to change the temperature setting for the inside space of the cabinet as desired. 3. When you have finished specifying the temperature value for the inside space of the cabinet, press the (Setting) button, the new setting will be validated and the display will change to indicate that you can now specify the alarm temperature. (The XY and. sections of the display blink alternately.) 4. Press the ( ) or ( ) button to change the alarm temperature setting as desired. 5. When you have finished specifying the alarm temperature, press the (Setting) button. The new setting will be validated and the equipment will be placed back into the Display mode. (Notes). When specifying the temperature or the alarm temperature for inside space of the cabinet, make sure to take into account the accuracy (±2K( )) of the temperature display. 2. Do not specify the temperature for the inside space of the cabinet so as to make the cooler starting and stopping frequently. Too frequent starting and stopping of the cooler may shorten the service life of devices and parts contained in the equipment. 3. The new setting(s) will be overwritten on the previously specified value(s) and will be kept even when the power switch is turned off. (Factory setting : temperature setting for the inside space of the cabinet : 37( ), alarm temperature : 42( )) 4. The alarm temperature setting range is between "the temperature setting for the inside space of the cabinet 5K( )" and In the Setting mode, you can change the displayed value continuously by pressing the ( ) or ( ) button and holding it in that position for 2 seconds or more. 6. If you do not press the (Setting) button within 30 seconds after changing the displayed value, the equipment will be automatically placed out of the Setting mode and back into the Display mode, and the previous setting will be retained (stored). Confirming the Current Setting If the (Setting) button is pressed once or twice while the equipment is in the Display mode (be sure not to hold the button in that position for 2 seconds or more), the current temperature setting (with the. section lit) or the current alarm temperature setting (with the. section blinking) for the inside space of the cabinet will be displayed, respectively. Pressing the [Setting] button again with the current alarm temperature setting displayed will change the display back to the temperature display. (Note) If you do not press the (Setting) button within 5 seconds after a display change to the current temperature setting for the inside space of the cabinet or to the current alarm temperature setting, the display will be automatically changed back to the temperature display. -７-

The alarm will be canceled as soon as the temperature of the inside space of the cabinet becomes lower or higher than the upper or lower limit, respectively, specified by the alarm temperature setting. Turn the power switch off to cancel the outputting (displaying) of the alarm and then replace the fan. Make the temperature inside the power supply box lower by cleaning the power supply box to unclog it or by replacing the ventilation fan in the power supply box. The alarm output (display) will be canceled as soon as the temperature in the power supply box becomes lower than the upper limit of the operating temperature. 11 Maintenance and Checkups Removal of Drain Water Perform regular checkups of the drain pipe,drain filter and drain port to ensure that they will not be clogged with infiltrated dust or foreign matters. (Note) A drain pipe/filter clogging may cause an equipment failure or water leakage. Use clean water when cleaning the drain filter. Main Components Because the actual service life of a main component (e.g. fan, switching power supply) may vary depending on the operating environment and conditions (the estimated average service life of the main components is approximately 4 to 6 years under continuous operation at a normal temperature), make sure to perform a checkup every 3 to 6 months. (Refer to the "Test Run Procedure" and please confirm whether a fan turns, and acool air appears.) Please contact us if you need to purchase a replacement fan. Make sure to cut the power source of the equipment and the leakage breaker designed for it before the fan replacement. 2. When the external fan outside the cabinet is to be replace, remove the cover by unscrewing the cover mounting screw using the wrench (Hexavura for the No.8 diameter) provided (Fig.5). 3. Remove the finger guard (in the case of the internal fan) and fan mounting screw and disconnect the fan connecter (Figs.5 and 6). 4. Connect the connector of the replacement fan and follow the above procedure in reverse to mount the replacement fan on the main unit. (Notes) Make sure that the connector is firmly inserted and connected. (N otes) Make sure that the fan's lead wire is located in a way that it will not be caught by the rotating fan. (Note s) When mounting the fan, make sure that the appropriate tightening torque is used (See the Recommended Tightening Torque" column of the table in the Main Components section. Cleaning the Power Supply Box Please install the equipment on the cabinet according to the following procedures:. Remove the cover by unscrewing the cover mounting screw using the wrench (Hexavura for the No.8 diameter) provided (Figs.5). 2. Remove all foreign matters and dust by cleaning the air intakes of the power supply box (front and sides) using a brush or other suitable means. (Notes) Do not use water or organic solvent to clean the power supply box. 3. Reattach the cover by following the above procedure in reverse. 12 Troubleshooting Before you decide that the equipment has failed, consult the troubleshooting table below and try the recommended solution. The cooler does not cool. Make the appropriate correction(s) to achieve the appropriate level of airtightness if necessary. If the cabinet door is open, close the door to improve airtightness. Confirm that there is not an obstruction that obstructs the flow of air through the intake port or though the outlet port. If such an obstruction exists, remove it. Use of a duct may reduce the cooling power. Sufficient cooling cannot be achieved when the amount of internally generated heat is higher than that under the specified conditions or when the ambient temperature is higher than the specified ambient temperature. Cooling is insufficient. Water leakage- or condensationrelated problems If the equipment is not mounted vertically on the cabinet, make the necessary correction(s) to make the equipment vertical. If the drain water is not being drained smoothly from the cabinet, make the necessary correction(s) referring to the subsection about draining in the Maintenance section of this manual. If the equipment has been operating continuously for a long time on a test run, stop the test run. If the airtightness of the cabinet is insufficient, make the appropriate correction(s) to achieve the appropriate level of airtightness. Confirm that there is not an obstruction that obstructs the flow of cool air from the outlet port inside the cabinet. If such an obstruction exists, remove it. If a heat source exists near the intake port inside the cabinet, make sure that the intake port is not affected by the heat source Use of a duct often facilitates the generation of drain water. If there is a space between the mounting surface and the equipment, take the appropriate measure as specified in the "Installation Procedure" subsection. Do not use the equipment at a humidity that is higher than operating humidity.
