4 ERP INFORMATION WHEN DOES THE REGULATION ENTER INTO FORCE? The new EU Regulation 1253/2014/EU is effective since the 1st of January 2016 and its specifications must be upheld. WHOM DOES IT AFFECT? Since it is an EU Regulation, all states of the European Union are affected by its provisions. Countries outside the EU, like Switzerland, that wish to market products within the EU, are also under obligation to fulfill these requirements. IMPORTANT: The country where the product is put in use matters, and not the country where it is produced. WHO BEARS THE RESPONSIBILITY? The producer, who brings the products to the market, is responsible for upholding the laws. The building services engineer has to integrate in his projects technically valid rules (laws!). The installation companies should recognize if unlawful conditions are specified and should use their expertise to intervene. ITS IMPORTANCE FOR VENTILATION SYSTEMS The regulation makes the distinction between residential ventilation units (RVU) and non-residential ventilations units (NRVU). Units >1000 m³/h are considered to be NRVUs. Units between 250 m³/h and 1000 m³/h can be declared by the manufacturer as RVUs or NRVUs. The products manufactured by ruck Ventilatoren GmbH fall under NRVUs and are verified in accordance to requirements for this category. Another distinction made in the regulation is between unidirectional ventilation units (UVU) and bidirectional ventilation units (BVU). CLARIFICATION: UVU: BVU: A ventilation unit which produces air flow from indoors to outdoors or vice versa; A ventilation unit which produces air flow between indoors and outdoors and is equipped with both exhaust and supply fans. The efficiency in the operating point must be higher than the efficiency set by the regulation. If it falls below it, the product cannot be used within the EU.
