2 Product information The Vitoligno 300-P pellet boiler with three-pass principle from Viessmann sets new standards for heating with wood pellets where convenience, efficiency and safety are concerned. Developed and built by Viessmann. Wide modulation range: The Vitoligno 300-P makes its case through efficiency and economical operation. For low energy houses or buildings with a higher energy demand: With an output range from 4 to 48 kw and a high modulation ratio (1:3), it offers a tailor-made solution for any heat demand and every aspiration. High efficiency: With its efficiency of up to 95% and its low flue gas temperatures from 125 to 135 C, the Vitoligno 300-P commands one of the leading positions in the market. Combustion is constantly monitored by a Lambda probe and a temperature sensor. This safeguards the permanently high efficiency and insensitivity to fluctuating pellet qualities. The large water content of the Vitoligno 300-P makes thermal process protection superfluous. Efficient partial load operation with Variopass: The three-pass principle reduces the flow velocity of the hot gas in the first pass. In the second pass it directs the floating particles into the ash box and expels almost dust free hot gas through the third pass. The new Variopass design principle matches the heating surface to the current operating state. A special mechanism automatically reduces the heating surfaces of the second and third hot gas flue in partial load operation, thereby assuring a very high utilisation level in all operating phases. Return temperature raising facility: The new Vitoligno 300-P operates with low return temperatures. Reliability and a long service life are assured by the internal return temperature raising facility. An external return temperature raising facility is only required in heating systems with heating water buffer cylinder. 2 VIESMANN VITOLIGNO 300-P

The requirements of DIN EN for the heating load calculation are met. To reduce the heat-up load, the reduced room temperature will be raised in case of low outside temperatures. The flow temperature will be raised for a limited time to reduce the heat-up time after a setback period. According to the Energy Savings Order [Germany], the temperature in each room must be individually controlled, e.g. through thermostatic radiator valves. With the frost protection activated, the heating circuit pumps are switched ON and the boiler water is heated to the set value for reduced mode, but is held at least to the lower temperature limit of approx. 20 C (the lower temperature is maintained for boilers with lower temperature limit). & The frost protection function will be switched OFF, when the outside temperature exceeds approx. +3 C, i.e. the heating circuit pump and burner will be switched OFF. Adjusting the heating curves (slope and level) The Vitotronic 300, type FW1 controls the boiler water temperature and the flow temperature of the heating circuits with mixer in weather-compensated mode. The boiler water temperature is automatically boosted by between 0 and 40 K higher than the currently required set flow temperature (delivered condition 8 K). The flow temperature required to reach a specific room temperature depends on the heating system and the thermal insulation of the building to be heated. Adjusting both heating curves matches the boiler water temperature and the flow temperature to these operating conditions. The upper boiler water temperature is limited by the electronic temperature limiter and the electronic maximum temperature limit. Boiler coding card For matching to the boiler (integrated). Vitotrol 200 Part no KM BUS subscriber The Vitotrol 200 remote control regulates the heating program for one heating circuit and the required set room temperature in standard mode, from any room in the house. The Vitotrol 200 is equipped with backlit heating program selection keys as well as a party and economy key. The fault display shows faults on the control unit. WS function: Installation anywhere in the building. RS function: Installation in the main living room on an internal wall opposite radiators. Never install inside shelf units, recesses, immediately by a door or heat source (e.g. direct sunlight, fireplace, TV set, etc.). The integral room temperature sensor captures the actual room temperature and effects any necessary correction of the flow temperature as well as a rapid heat-up at the start of the heating operation (if appropriately programmed). Vitotrol 300 Part no KM BUS subscriber The Vitotrol 300 remote control regulates the required set room temperature for one heating circuit in standard and reduced mode, the heating program and the switching times for central heating, DHW heating and the DHW circulation pump. The Vitotrol 300 provides an illuminated display as well as illuminated heating program keys, a party and economy key, automatic summer/winter time changeover, keys for holiday program, day and time. WS function: Installation at any point in the building. RS function: Installation in the main living room on an internal wall opposite radiators. Never install inside shelf units, niches, immediately by a door or heat source (e.g. direct sunlight, fireplace, TV set, etc.). The integral room temperature sensor captures the actual room temperature and effects any necessary correction of the flow temperature as well as a rapid heat-up at the start of the heating operation (if suitably encoded). 22 Design information Selection of rated output When selecting a boiler size, the [German] Energy Savings Order prescribes that the rated output according to EN or ÖNORM M 7500 does not exceed the calculated heat demand. Fuels This boiler is only approved for the combustion of commercial, natural wood pellets (max. residual humidity 7 to 12%, diameter 6 mm, length 5 to 30 mm acc. to DINplus or ÖNORM M 7135). Pellets must be transported and stored in absolute dry condition. The following are unsuitable types of fuel: Fossil fuels and those containing sulphur, such as anthracite, coke as well as plastics, grain, chipboard, material soaked in flammable liquids, wood chips, sawdust, wood dust or wood and waste wood treated with plastics or wood preservatives. Hydraulic connection Never use solid fuel boilers in open heating systems to DIN EN Instead, integrate these boilers in sealed systems to DIN EN 12828, as shown in the installation examples in the technical guide. Only connect regulated heating circuits with mixer. Systems without heating water buffer cylinders generally require no return temperature raising facility, as the Vitoligno 300 is equipped with its own integral return temperature raising facility. Systems with a heating water buffer cylinder require both a shunt pump and a return temperature raising facility. DHW heating The DHW cylinder primary pump will only be started when the minimum boiler water temperature of 50 C has been exceeded. Safety equipment The boiler should be equipped with a type-tested safety valve (subject to design) in accordance with DIN EN for DHW heating systems with a safety temperature of up to 110 C. This valve must be identified in accordance with TRD 721, i.e. with & "H" up to 3.0 bar permissible operating pressure and max kw rated output, & "D/G/H" for all other operating conditions. Low water indicator DIN EN specifies the use of a low water indicator (available as accessory). Flue gas system Connect the Vitoligno 300-P to highly insulated chimney stacks (thermal resistance class I to DIN ) or use suitable moisture-resistant flue gas systems that have Building Regulations approval. Install no more than one 90 bend in the flue pipe to safeguard optimum combustion. Route the flue pipe into the chimney stack with an incline (at least 10, optimum inclination = 45 ). Prevent any reductions and additional bends, otherwise the low pressure inside the chimney may be insufficient for trouble-free flue gas removal. The combustion could then be impaired. The flue pipe up to the entry into the chimney stack may be a up to 3 m long. Insulate the flue pipe over the entire length with at least 30 mm thick thermal insulation; the flue pipe must be sound. Install a draught limiter. Flue gases must be routed from the chimney to the outside in a manner that prevents damage from the precipitation of vaporous flue gas components inside the chimney. Boiler and flue system must be matched to each other; this applies particularly to older systems that are being modernised. Prevent chimney damage through the following steps (check with your local flue gas inspector): Install a draught stabiliser into the chimney side, thermally insulate the flue pipe, thermally insulate the chimney in unheated attics or modernise the chimney. Sound insulation Never grout the flue pipe into the chimney to prevent sound transmission caused by the induced draught fan.
