1 VACUUM CUPS Cups are vacuum accessories which allow in an easy way to lift or to manipulate things, plates of other bodies, difficult to grip with traditional holding systems, because they have no grips or they are breakable or because they can easily be deformed. VUOTOTECNICA cups are manufactured by compression under vacuum and they can be supplied in different compounds, the most common being: OIL-RESISTANTRUBBER This excellent compound has a hardness of 0 Shore, resists oil, fats, hydrocarbons, and gas. In addition to these chemicophysical characteristics, this compound has optimum mechanical characteristics making it suitable for heavy work involving jerking, squashing, impact, etc. It can resist temperatures up to 0-70º C. NATURAL PARA RUBBER A compound with hardness 4 Shore. Compared to the oilresistant rubber, it is extremely flexible, making it suitable for solving problems of difficult grip, like irregular shapes or surfaces. The chemicophysical characteristics are inferior to those of oil-resistant rubber and it cannot, for example, be used in contact with oil or grease. In compensation it has better mechanical characteristics. It can tolerate temperatures of 0 to 0º C without alteration. SILICONE This compound has a hardness of 4 Shore. Because of its chemicophysical characteristics, it can be used in contact with oils, hydrocarbons, and gas, as with the oil-resistant rubber. Thanks to its excellent flexibility it can be used to grip loads with irregular shapes of surfaces, as with natural Para rubber. Its excellent heat resistance means it can be used in contact with surfaces at up to 20 C. Compared with the other rubber compounds described above, silicon rubber has poor mechanical resistance. TECHNICAL DATA The holding force of the cups has been calculatedusing the following formula: = S x P η S = Surface area of the cup, expressed in sqcm P = exerted by the atmospheric pressure expressed in kg/sqcm η = Safety Factor SAFETY FACTOR: Our cups have been designed to theoretically hold a load equal to three times of the value of the force shown in the tables. The stated figures have been obtained based on the following: P = 0,7 kg/sqcm, value created by a vacuum level of 70 mbar η = 3; safety factor, valid when the grip plane of the cups is horizontal. For example, a cup ø 0 mm (Art ), which has a surface area, S, of 28,2 sqcm, will obtain the following holding force using this calculation: Forza = 28.2 x 0.7 = Kg This is based upon the following conditions: A vacuum level of 70 mbar, equal to 0,7 kg/sqcm. 3 SIMPLE VACUUM GENERATORS AND WITH MULTIPLE EJECTORS Vacuum generators - both of simple one and with multiple ejectors - operate using the Venturi principle. When feeding the generator with compressed air in port P, a depression is produced at connection U and at port R the feeding air is released. By interrupting to feed P, the vacuum effect in U stops. They work using compressed air at 4 bar. The simple vacuum generators are generally used for moving by means of cups non-porous objects or on equipment where the capacity and the vacuum degree requirements are very low. The vacuum generators with multiple ejectors are instruments able to produce a maximum depression of % equal to a final vacuum of 100 mbar, with different suction capacities.
