2 Key Note Speaker Jon Carloftis Kentucky native Jon Carloftis award winning garden designer, garden writer, television guest, author, and lecturer is a great American gardener. His more than 25 year career in gardening began far from home in New York City where he has become one of America s pioneers in rooftop/small space gardening. As a 10th generation Kentuckian, Jon graduated from University of Kentucky and moved to New York City in What was supposed to be a summer spent in the city before starting his business at home in Lexington ended up being a 25 year career of designing and installing rooftop gardens all over Manhattan. Within a few years of living in Chelsea, he bought an 1850's farmhouse in Bucks County, PA close to all of his plant growers and carpenter, making it convenient... other than the daily trek in and out of the city. Although he has built gardens for famous people such as Julianne Moore, Edward Norton, Mike Myers, Google, and many well known art collectors, his approach is very simple. First, figure out the problems that need to be fixed (views, noise, privacy, etc.) and then work with the interior of the space to pull the same feeling outdoors for a seamless connection. From traditional to modern, all of the gardens are built for entertaining and enjoying the outdoors through good design and knowledge of plants. Now, the next chapter is unfolding back home in Lexington where he bought a historic 1851 home, called Botherum, that had fallen into disrepair and was boarded up. Within a year Jon and partner Dale Fisher received the highest honor in the state for historic restoration of the home and garden. Some amazing projects are ongoing such as the Maker's Mark Distillery and the Old Taylor Distillery renovations, Governor's Mansion gardens, EKU and University of the Cumberlands main gardens, several large horse farms, and many roof gardens in both Louisville and Lexington. Jon decided to do less projects in NYC but still keeps and maintains some special clients once a month.

5 Tours Friday, September 15 th, 1:00 PM Tour 1 Elmwood Stock Farm, 3520 Paris Pike, Georgetown Elmwood Stock Farm is a sixth generation family farm that began as a producer of Black Angus breeding stock cattle. The cattle are still an important part of the farm ecosystem and farm business; though over the past decade, the farm has branched out to produce a variety of organic vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, and cornmeal. Elmwood is committed to healthy and wholesome production of superior, high quality, fresh farm products. Organic certification and close family involvement ensure that safe and sustainable farming practices are followed, livestock are well cared for, and land and water conservation remain a priority. Tour 2 Bi Water Farm and Greenhouse, 877 Cincinnati Road, Georgetown Evans Orchard and Cider Mill, 198 Stone Road, Georgetown Bi Water Farm and Greenhouse is a family owned business that is in the fifth generation of horticulture. In the greenhouses they raise the finest flowers for your yard. They have the largest inventory in the area, growing over 150,000 square feet of flowers and over 10,000 hanging baskets. Fresh produce in the summer includes sweet corn, tomatoes, green beans, and squashes. In the fall Bi Water Farm hosts Autumnfest with a corn maze, spooky farm house, enchanted barnyard, lost pumpkin mine, and hayrides in addition to a large selection of pumpkins, mums, and pansies to brighten the fall atmosphere. Evans Orchard and Cider Mill is a fifth generation, family farm focused on providing great family entertainment as well as healthy, farm fresh fruits and vegetables. Originally raising tobacco and cattle until the early 1990s, the farm shifted to growing vegetables and apple trees. Its 175 acres encompass 15 acres of apple and peach orchards and more than 20 acres of vegetables that are sold in their market and local farmers markets. Tour 3 Georgetown/Scott County Community Garden, Barkley Lane, Georgetown Country Boy Brewing, 108 Corporate Blvd., Georgetown Now in its eighth season, the community garden is a collaboration between Scott County Extension Horticulture, the City of Georgetown, and the Scott County Fiscal Court. It contains 125 plots, ranging between 800 to 1,600 square feet, that are rented to the public for a small fee ($18 for 800 square feet, $28 for 1,600 square feet) throughout the summer season. The garden remains open until December 1 st for gardeners who wish to grow late season crops. Plowing, tilling, and water are provided for participating gardeners. Country Boy Brewing was founded in February 2012 by four Kentucky boys with a passion for unique craft brews. Co founders Daniel Harrison and Nathan Coppage fell in love with brewing while teaching in Japan. They met partner Jeff Beagle through a local home brew club and joined forces with Nathan s brother Evan Coppage. A plan to open a home grown craft brewery was born. In 2017, the Lexington based craft brewery opened a larger facility in Georgetown to expand production. Tour is free, however additional costs of $5, $7, or $10 (for souvenir glass and beverage) can be added but are not required.
