17 Challenges for the market(1) For the water suppliers Select the a meter based on criteria like Pattern of usage of water at flow rates distributed over time Highest and lowest flow rate to be measured Predictable and accurate measuring function over the in-service time Control on the operation costs of measuring over lifetime of the meter New technologies/use of other materials used for meters will be available in the future.

18 Challenges for the market (2) For the manufacturers Develop (new) metering solutions using the possibilities of requirements independent of technology as set in EN Control production costs One type of meter for large EU market (vs. local designs and national approvals in the past)

19 Challenges for the market (3) For the Testing Institutes Adapt to be able to perform the newly developed tests Make sure to become a notified body or approved test house by a notified body Harmonise between test institutes for keeping up quality of tests and broad acceptance of test results

20 Challenges for the market (4) CEN/TC92 WG2 Platform to discuss requirements and tests on meters amongst users, manufacturers and testing institutes Have reached consensus on reasonable level Working on harmonising with requirements of Measuring Instruments Directive (Annex ZA) Create a challenging future for the market!!
