5 Electronic Hardwire Drivers SB-D-EH-XX SunBound Lighting s electronic dimmable hardwire driver is class 2 rated and designed to operate with any standard MLV/Incandescent TRIAC (Leading edge) dimmer switch. Encased in a low profile aluminum enclosure that includes 2 knock-outs to enable easy installation makes it the perfect choice for closets or projects with minimal space. 6 Magnetic Hardwire Drivers SB-D-MH-XXX SunBound Lighting s magnetic drivers are the most compact LED driver on the market with a magnetic transformer core. Driver is equipped with two auto-reset breakers, one on the input and one on the output, which protect both the load and driver. The driver is encased in a coated metal box that includes 2 knock-outs, one on each side, to enable easy installation that complies with electrical code requirements. When choosing wire, factor in voltage drop, amp rating, and type to prevent long term damage, fire or electric shock. Maximum of 10ft for each run of LED lights Avoid Voltage Drop Voltage drop is a drop in voltage caused by too much resistance in the lights and/or wire over long runs. Too much lighting and/or too much wire (too small a gauge) will cause a drop. Below are recommendations to avoid voltage drop. Place the driver in a location that is closer to the lights, within 20ft. Install the LED lighting in parallel connections (home runs) from the power source. Do not connect more than 12ft of LED lights in a series connection (voltage drop will occur). Ensure applicable AWG wire is installed between driver and fixture. We recommend using 18AWG or heavier. Dimmers will trim voltage down, causing an output less than 12VDC. Performance will not be affected if the LED strip fixture is receiving VDC. 24 Installation Guide Page 4 Frequently Asked Questions Do SunBound LEDs produce heat at normal operating temperature? LED chips produce very little heat. However, the electronic circuit board that powers the LEDs does produce heat. For this reason SunBound light bars are designed with an aluminum heat sink housing, which decreases running temperature and increase LED performance. The typical temperature range for crescent and pyramid frames should be from F. Groove and slim frames generate more heat due to the low profile design, so they can get up to 120 F. If LEDs are hot to the touch, they are being overpowered due to improper circuitry or a defective driver. Can SunBound LED light bars be damaged if wired improperly? Yes. If the lights are connected to AC voltage, they will immediately be damaged and possibly cause a fire risk. If the polarity of the DC voltage is reversed, the lights will not work but will not cause damage. This is a common mistake, always double check to make sure positive (dashed line) and negative (solid color wire) are lined up correctly when troubleshooting. Why don t my lights turn on? The most common reason for lights not turning on is polarity. Unlike AC Voltage, DC voltage remains strict with polarity. Always make sure the negative and the positive terminals match up. Check to make sure your connections are correct Why are my lights flickering? There could be several reasons why your lights are flickering. The most common occurrence is due to an incompatible dimmer switch, the minimum and maximum dimmer loads not met, or a defective driver. If you are using a dimmer not provided by SunBound, ensure it is CFL/LED compatible. Also see dimmer switch specs for minimum load requirements. Check the output voltage of the driver, and ensure the output reads between 10V-12V without any load. Lastly, make sure all the wiring is correct. If excess flickering is still apparent, please contact technical support. The reset breaker trips repeatedly. Ensure the driver is not overloaded. Always de-rate the driver 20% from its labeled rating. Ensure there is not a short circuit occurring. If the breaker continues to trip after reset then contact technical support as the driver may be defective. Are SunBound LED lights dimmable? Yes. If you are powering your lights with a dimmable transformer you must use an LED/CFL compatible dimmer switch, which connects from the AC 120V input into the dimmable transformer. We also have low voltage switching options available. What dimmers work with your lighting system? Our drivers are compatible with a range of dimmers from different manufacturers, depending on your driver model. Please contact our technical support team for a full list of dimmers that work with your specific model. If you are using a power supply that plugs into a standard outlet, then you will need an inline DC dimmer control. This can easily connect between the power supply and the first light bar. Quotations are subject to acceptance within 60 days, and we reserve the right to withdraw the quotation at any time before the order is accepted by SunBound Lighting. We also reserve the right to void any quotation of price or terms in the event the customer to whom such quotations made, changes the order with respect to any factor reflected in the price or other terms originally quoted. Lead Time Our standard production lead time is 5 business days. SunBound Lighting will not be responsible for deviation in meeting shipping or delivery schedules nor for any losses or damages unless specific agreement to that effect is made in writing and signed by an officer of SunBound Lighting. Such specific agreement shall be deemed null and void if the delay is due to any cause beyond our reasonable control including and without limitation to force majeure, priorities of the government or federal, state or municipal agency, or other agencies not within our control which prevent the delivery of the products. Shipping All projects are shipped from our facility in Whitehall, Pennsylvania. SunBound Lighting reserves the right to select routing and best method of transportation. If the customer specifies an alternate method of shipping (such as air shipment) or special routing, the customer must assume all freight charges. Delivery & Shipment Charges All products are inspected to ensure they are in good condition before they are turned over to the carrier. If the merchandise is received in damaged condition, or if cartons are missing, a notation must be placed on all documents signed by the recipient. The carrier should be contacted by telephone and in writing to request an inspection immediately, whether or not the damages are noted or concealed at the time of receipt. SunBound Lighting must be informed of any loss or damage within 5 business days from the date of receipt should credit or replacement of merchandise be required from us. Returned Merchandise No products are to be returned without prior authorization from SunBound Lighting. Under no circumstances shall customers assume settlement nor will SunBound Lighting be bound by deductions from remittances due. Returned merchandise is subject to a 30% restocking and handling fee for all custom products, and 10% restocking and handling fee for all non custom items. All returns are to be sent freight prepaid, unless previously agreed to by SunBound Lighting. Returned goods cannot be accepted if the merchandise was shipped by us more than 60 days of shipment date. Merchandise returned due to manufacturing error will be credited in full and return freight will be allowed. Please note, however, that in all cases, credit is subject to SunBound Lighting s final inspection. Cancelled Orders Orders or for non custom products may be cancelled by the customer only upon payment of all reasonable charges based on expenses already incurred and committed by SunBound Lighting. Custom or modified made-to-order products are not subject to cancellation after 24 hours of order confirmation. Taxes Prices do not include any federal, state or local taxes, which may be applicable. The purchaser shall pay any federal, state or local tax imposed by virtue of a sale. If a tax exemption is claimed, such exemption must comply with the legal guidelines established by the governing authorities. Warranty SunBound Lighting offers a 5 year workmanship warranty on all custom manufactured LED lights. All stock items will defer to the manufacturer s warranty unless otherwise specified. SunBound Lighting warrants that products delivered or shipped are free of defects of workmanship or materials under normal and proper usage. Should any failure to conform to this warranty become apparent during the stated warranty period, we must be informed in writing to enable us to replace or repair the products at our option. In no event will we be responsible for any labor costs expended on such products or held liable for any consequential damages, losses or damages arising directly or indirectly from these products or from any other cause. SunBound Lighting will not assume responsibility for claims arising from misuse of our products due to improper installation practices or usage, and abuse by subjecting the product to operating conditions that exceed the rated capacity. Warranty applies to original purchaser with original receipt or proof of purchase.
