3 Welcome An introduction to KGM Fire and Security Distribution. KGM Fire and Security Distribution Ltd was born from a name change in September Previously known as Global Fire Equipment Ltd we specialized in the supply of the GFE range of conventional and addressable fire alarm equipment. As a family run business, Global Fire Equipment Ltd was originally formed in 1999 by myself & my wife Jenny with the aim of promoting the GFE range of equipment (now located in Portugal). After a couple of year s successful growth our daughter Kelly joined the team to take care of accounts and admin. A little further down the line and our second daughter Gemma joined the team in a production role, but more recently handling technical support on the GFE range. Following the demands of our continued expansion, Kelly s husband Michael joined us in September 2010 to manage stores & dispatch and later our trade counter which we opened in October The change of name came about as we decided to extend our product range to encompass more manufacturers enabling us to supply our customers with a greater choice of equipment. We are now able to supply Fire Control Panels from six manufacturers, detection from six manufacturers and a host of related equipment from over forty other manufacturers and suppliers. We will continue to source products that assist our customers in their efforts within today s tight budgets. If you require a particular product which is not in our catalogue, mention it to one of our team and we will do our best to source it for you: if there is further demand we will then make it a stock item. Based in Portugal, GFE designs, manufactures and exports a complete range of Fire Detection Products and puts customer satisfaction at the top of its priorities. The ORION conventional control panel range offers a creatively designed and visually pleasing solution for smaller cost-conscious projects requiring simplicity of operation. Versions available include 2, 4 and 8 zone panels and two styles of repeater. Programmable features included as standard in the panel range contradict the facilities commonly available in this type of panel and include: programmable time delay selectable for each zone, Day/Night mode control of time-delays, selectable nonlatching zone operation and selectable zone-pairing coincidence detection. Operation is intuitive offering simple controls, one-button disablement facilities and one man test mode. The GFE-C series of conventional devices have been designed to be fully compatible with the GFE conventional control panel range and include optical smoke detection, heat detection, manual call points, sounders & visual indication beacons, and an advanced addressable interface board that allows the conventional system to interface as an addressable point to a Global Fire Equipment addressable system. The GFE addressable range includes the compact Junior control panel in 1 or 2 loop format and the Flagship Juno-Net range which is expandable from 1 to 96 loops and networkable to a wide variety of devices including repeater panels, sub-panels and pager systems. The Odyssey multi-language graphical alarm management software gives further system expansion capabilities allowing control of up to 64 Juno-Net networked systems. In the event that a fire or fault occurs, the location of the incident may be displayed on a PC monitor and with a few mouse clicks the display may be zoomed into the area of the incident. The JUNIOR control panel is a cost effective solution for small to medium sized installations. A surprisingly high level of functionality is available in this compact & engineer friendly panel as it shares the same advanced features of the high-end Juno-Net system, including PC configuration tools for programming and the communication technologies used for repeater panels. Multi-protocol device support is available but clear advantage exists in using the GFE loop communications protocol due to the wide range of ancillary devices & functions available. The JUNO-NET range of control panels are able to encompass the largest and most complex of projects with a fully expanded system capacity of up to 12,000 analogue addressable devices connected across 96 fully redundant loops. The dedicated network-communication ring supports RS422/485, fibre-optic & TCP/IP technologies and each network element has its own Fire Detection processing facility for distributed system integrity and to allow the main control panel free to handle the more advanced programming and operational functions. System programming flexibility is high with 384 detection zones, 512 sounder groups and 512 I/O groups. This allows advantage to be taken of the full potential of the Cause & Effect programming features and all likely scenarios to be met. Fully LPCB approved to EN54 parts 2 & 4,the XFP is available in three different formats: 1 loop 16 zone, 1 loop 32 zone and 2 loop 32 zone. Up to eight XFP master panels (any variant) may be interconnected. The control panels are available in Apollo XP95 / Discovery and Hochiki ESP protocols. 25 SigTEL Refuge & Fire Telephone System Current Building Regulations insist all new non-domestic buildings with more than one storey provide refuge areas relatively safe places where people who cannot easily use fire escapes and evacuation lifts can call for assistance and wait until help arrives. Simple, effective two-way communication in these areas is essential, firstly to assist rescue teams in determining where assistance is required and secondly to reassure people help is on the way. C-TEC s SigTEL Emergency Voice Communication (EVC) System has been specifically designed to meet the rising demand for fully compliant BS 5839 Part 9 disabled refuge systems. The range comprises two wall-mounting master controllers (the ECU-4, pictured above right, and ECU-8 which can handle 4 and 8 lines respectively) and an eight line expansion unit, the ECU-8S. Typically located in a building s control room or fire services access point, the ECU-4 and ECU-8 allow management and/or the fire services to communicate via a telephone-style handset with the system s outstations. Two types of outstation are available (Type A and Type B). Disabled refuge systems use Type B intercom style outstations. The Disabled Persons Toilet Alarm kit provides a simple solution to implementing a BS8300 compliant emergency assistance alarm (except cables and fixings). Attractively designed, easy to install and simple to use, it allows a distressed person to raise an alarm in the event of an emergency. How VESDA works VESDA works by continuously drawing air into a distributed pipe network via a high-efficiency aspirator. The air sample then passes through a dual-stage filter. The first stage removes dust and dirt from the air sample before it enters the laser detection chamber. The second, ultra-fine stage provides an additional clean-air supply to keep the detector s optical surfaces free from contamination, ensuring stable calibration and long detector life as well as minimizing nuisance alarms. From the filter, the air sample goes through the calibrated detection chamber where it is exposed to a laser light source. When smoke is present, light is scattered within the detection chamber and is instantly identified by the highly sensitive receiver system. The signal is then processed and presented via a bar-graph display, alarm threshold indicators and/or graphic display. VESDA detectors are able to communicate this information to a fire alarm control panel, a software management system, or a building management system via relays or a High Level Interface (HLI).
