2 FLAME DETECTOR FLV45 - A - AL 1 - INTRODUCTION This technical manual provides instructions for the installation, calibration and start-up of the flame detector FLV- 45. Its installation is extremely easy and only takes a few minutes to complete the task. For best results we recommend reading the full instructions below and the scrupulous observance of the indications. 2 - WARNINGS The detector FLV-45 is an IR+UV flame detector. The installation and maintenance of the detector must be performed by qualified and competent staff. It's clear responsibility of the user preserve the detector FLV-45 under normal operating conditions. 3 - REFERENCE STANDARDS Directive 94/9/CE del 23 March SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS These instructions are intended for qualified personnel in accordance with national laws including the relevant standards The detector FLV-45 is manufactured with IP65 protection. Therefore can not be installed in areas with danger of explosion: Zone 1 - Zone 2 - Zone 21 - Area 22. vision. The detector FLV- 45 reacts with great sensitivity to the emission of infrared IR and ultraviolet UV radiation and emitted by a source with adequate power in his field of vision. The detector is normally set so that, to have an Alarm, must be present in his visual field the IR and UV radiation. The only emission of UV or IR radiation is not sufficient to cause the alarm. It's in fact necessary that the emission includes both radiation such as those produced by the flame. FLV-45 however, for particular applications, can be set so as to obtain the Alarm only with the IR or UV radiation independently. FLV- 45 also has a special and sophisticated algorithms that analyze the spectrum, the frequency, intensity and duration of the radiation. Only when there are signals that fall within the parameters of calibration you have the Alarm generation. This makes the detector highly immune to false alarms Must be respected technical data indicated on the enclosure Changes must not be made to the product The FLV-45 detector should be installed only if completely intact Be sure to use only replacement EDS parts The ordinary and extraordinary maintenance operations must be carried out only by qualified personnel with the approval of "expert" staff Must be strictly complied with national safety and accident prevention and the requirements indicated by the warning triangle in this technical manual. 5 - VALIDITY These instructions are valid for the flame detector FLV WORKING The flame detector FLV -45 is able to detect, within a few seconds, a flame produced by a fire within his field of 7 - WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION All installation and maintenance must be performed when the device is not powered When you open the cover, you must be very careful not to damage the gasket When it is replaced, you must make sure that the gasket is in its place To avoid damaging the coupling cover-bottom, thoroughly clean the surfaces before coupling them. 8 - IMPORTANT INSTALLATION RULES Avoid the detector is exposed to direct sunlight. The sun is a powerful source of UV and IR radiation. If this source is modulated by certain elements, such as by curtains blowing in the wind in front of a window, can cause false alarms. Therefore, the outdoor installation must be done after careful consideration of the environmental conditions and possibly, using the lowest levels of sensitivity and time delay longer. 2

3 8.2 - The positioning of the detector FLV-45 must be made in order to allow the future maintenance operations in an easy and accessible The installation must be performed so that the detector is not subjected to vibrations and impacts If the detector FLV-45 is installed in dusty, dirty areas, you need a periodic check of the detector and a frequent cleaning of the optical window Do not allow the viewing angle of the detector is obscured by obstacles (shelves, parcels, pallets, etc.) Avoid large changes in temperature of the detector. The generation of ice or moisture inside or outside of the detector can compromise its functionality Avoid that the detector has a direct view of UV and IR sources that could be modulated by certain environmental conditions. The presence in the field of vision of electric arcs produced by welding machines, industrial lighting systems, gamma rays, radio frequency sources, etc.. can sometimes perturb the operation of the detector. Keep in mind that in order to generate an alarm, these perturbations must persist for longer than the time delay programmed into the detector. So, if the pertub source acts for a shorter time, no alarm will be generated. 9 - INSTALLATION The appliance must be installed on the ceiling or wall. In general, for the surveillance of materials placed on the floor, it is advisable to position the ceiling If in the same environment are used more detectors, avoid that two detectors are pointing towards each other The installation height is in relation to the area you want to check bearing in mind that the viewing angle of the detector is 120 and the distance of the flame detection is 25 m (with a flame reference target from gasoline with height 20 cm within a tray of 33x33x5 cm). The graph of Fig. 2 shows as a function of distance and sensitivity, the area covered For the installation of the cables keep in mind that: The product is supplied without cable gland - should be taken care of the customer to use cable glands according to plant regulations in force. During the drilling of the wall of the box for the installation of the cable gland, be extremely careful not to damage the internal components! Open the front cover by unscrewing the 4 screws with recessed head and access to the terminals. Connect the terminals with a shielded cable according to the diagram in fig.1. [+ -] - must be connected to power: 11-30Vdc [AL] - out OC (Open Collector) of Alarm. [FA] - out OC (Open Collector) of Fault. The signaling of Fault is generated if the normal internal operations fail [S] - analog out 0-5V - voltage levels (v. tab fig. 3 0V - anomaly of detector 1V - regular operation - no UV and IR radiation 2V - UV detection (immediate) 3V - IR detection (immediate) 4V - prealarm (immediate) - presence of IR + UV radiation 5V - alarm (delayed) - presence of IR + UV radiation. [COM/NC/NO] - alarm voltage-free terminals of relays. The detector is supplied with relay normally not energized. Using the jumper JP7 (fig. 1), the condition can be changed (see chap. 10.1) If you have installed the serial output (optional) terminals are: [A - B] - RS485 serial output 10 - SETTINGS FLV-45 can be configured for the specific needs of the environment through an appropriate selection of the levels of sensitivity and time delay for the section UV and IR. The installer therefore, after careful examination of the environmental characteristics, has the ability to set the detector to get the best performance Alarm relay setting Alarm Relay. The jumper JP7 (see fig. 1) allows, depending on the location, operation with relay normally energized or not energized. Therefore: insert: normally energized not insert: normally not energized After selecting you need to use the correct position of NC - NO relay contacts Sensitivity adjustment The detector FLV-45 is equipped with two independent adjustment possibilities for the UV and IR section: IR - for adjusting the sensitivity in a continuous manner between minimum and maximum, you need to use the trimmer TR2 (the sensitivity increases with clockwise rotation) UV - 4 levels of sensitivity using the Dip Switches S1 (high - medium/high - low/medium - low) - see figure 1 and table fig Time delay FLV-45 has 4 levels of time delay for the activation of the alarm relay selectable with Dip Switch S1 - according to the table fig.5 5 seconds 10 seconds 20 seconds 30 seconds 3

4 If the radiation source operates continuously and sensitizes both UV and IR detectors for a time longer than set, it generates an alarm signal. The times indicated above may vary on the rise 5-10% depending on the programmed sensitivity Modes of operation The detector can be configured to operate in different ways according to the following jumper settings for JP4 - JP5 - JP6 (fig. 1): JP4 - if inserted activate the AND function between the two channels UV and IR. Therefore the detector to goes into alarm, it must detect both the UV and IR radiation (after the set time delay). If not inserted the detector goes into alarm if detect the UV or IR radiation in an independent manner (after the set time delay). JP5 - JP6 - activated single-channel IR or UV The detector can be operated with only one channel IR or UV using the following jumpers: JP5 - if inserted activate the IR channel JP6 - if inserted activate the UV channel If not inserted disables the corresponding channel. Therefore to activate both channels, JP5 and JP6 must be inserted OPERATION CHECK After installation and after configuration, it is possible to power the detector and proceed to the verification of operation. After the power is turned on, the little green LED (DL6) inside of the card will light up to confirm power and the 4 front LED gives a flash in sequence. Afterwards the White LED will begin to flash every 10 seconds. This indicates normal operation. If false alarms are generated, you must check if in the area controlled by the detector, there are disturbing elements. If necessary, change the setting of sensibility and the delay to compensate for these abnormalities front LED Indications White LED - flashes every 10 seconds to indicate that the detector is active Blue LED - activates if the detector detects the presence of UV radiation Green LED - activates if the detector detects the presence of IR radiation Red LED - When the alarm time delay is exceeded, the LED lights up to indicate the alarm condition (also turns on the LED interior DL4) Note - after installation and after feeding the detector, the observation of the front LED can be useful to detect any disturbing elements in the visual field of the detector and not visible to the human eye If possible, perform a test operation as described in section MAINTENANCE The optical window of the detector should be cleaned periodically to ensure the regularity of the operation. The frequency of this operation must be in dependence of the environmental characteristics Run the test operation causing an artificial signal similar to a flame by our FL50-TESTER (UV/IR ATEX tester). This TESTER ATEX certified, shall issue a UV and IR radiation similar to the flame. It's necessary to focus the radiation from FL50-TESTER putting towards the detector FLV-45 at a distance within 2 meters for a time longer than the set time delay. After this time, FLV-45 must emit an alarm signal. If you do not have our FL50-TESTER, simply turn on a flame a few meters away from the detector and move it left and right slowly until the detector emits an alarm signal. This test should be performed in compliance with the safety standards and with the maxim caution TECHNICAL DATA Electrical Data Power supply: 12/24 VDC Consumption: 100 ma max.
