3 eurosmart - multiplex siren & control system Introduction Eurosmart is a very advanced modular system that can be used for a wide variety of switching, control and siren requirements. At the heart of the system is a range of hand held and dash mounted switch panels. These communicate with switching modules, lightbars and sirens via a data cable. Users can select the required components which then simply plug together to provide the required functionality. All the devices are fully programmable so can be configured to suit the required system functions. Units can either be programmed at Haztec prior to despatch or software is available that allows users to configure systems as needed. Programmable switch panels can be either dash mounted type or hand held units. External control modules can be added as required, these can function as simple switching relays, headlamp flashers, runlock modules etc. Eurosmart handsets can also communicate directly with Eurosmart sirens as well as many of the latest Haztec LED lightbar flash controllers. A single Eurosmart system can control all of the audio visual warning equipment on a vehicle as well as ancillary equipment such as work and scene lighting. User interface The Eurosmart range includes 5 dash mount and 2 handheld controllers. Handheld controllers have a built in microphone to provide PA functionality when used with a Eurosmart siren and speaker. Dash mount controllers can be supplied with a plug in standard or speech record microphone if required. Eurosmart supports complex switching requirements, multiple modes can be programmed and stored for activation by a single push-button. For example, common modes such as responding or arrival can be pre-programmed into Eurosmart, so pressing a single button sets each system component to its appropriate operation For example pressing a single button could cause the lightbar to activate in a particular flash mode, the siren to activate in a specific tone and external lights such as grille lights, headlights, etc to come on. In addition buttons can be assigned to activate alley lights, takedown lights, other lighting etc. Hand held controllers are supplied with a magnetic mount quick release bracket to attach the controller to the dashboard when not in use. See overleaf for details of the available hand held and dash mount controllers. 1

8 Eurosmart control modules Eurosmart control modules Latest generation Haztec lightbars and Eurosmart siren amplifiers can be directly controlled by sending software commands from the controller, thus avoiding the need to switch heavy power. Where the devices are required that cannot be controlled by software commands (e.g. grille lights), Eurosmart control modules can be used instead to switch the supply to the device. Compact size Works with Eurosmart switch units or stand alone 12 or 24V operation c/w 8 switched outputs The Eurosmart siren amplifier holds a large library of siren tones and can drive a wide selection of different speaker combinations. The Siren output is programmed to suit the required speaker quantity and wattage, it is protected to prevent damage to the Eurosmart siren amplifier in the event of an external short circuit. The unit includes many advanced functions such as an interlock to ensure the siren can only be activated when a designated beacon is also operating. Additionally full data logging facilities are available. Horn ring transfer control is also included allowing the siren to be started and stopped as well as the tone changed via the vehicle horn. Units are supplied as standard as either 12 or 24V, but this can be altered by the user if required by changing internal switch settings. All Haztec Eurosmart handsets and switch panels are compatible with the Eurosmart siren. Alternatively the unit can operate as a stand alone siren controlled by the programmable inputs. 4 programmable inputs are included that allow required functions to be controlled by simple low voltage signals if required. These could be used to start / stop siren, change tone, operate at reduced volume for night time use, activate a low volume system test etc. Up to 8 x 10A rated switched outputs can be included, offering the same functionality as the switch module but without the need for a separate external device. The software kit consists of PC software and a USB adaptor that allows the range of haztec Eurosmart handsets and devices to be connected a USB port on the PC. The software allows configuration of lightbar flash controllers, Eurosmart sirens and Eurosmart switching units. It can be used to assign any button to control any required siren or switching function. Group buttons can also be created whereby pressing a single button automatically starts or cancels a number of other functions. e.g. pressing a response button can result in the lightbar, siren and grille lights all being activated. In addition to the programmable output settings, the class D design of the new Eurosmart siren also results in a compact lightweight design. A cooling fan is fitted to the unit to ensure reliable operation even in the event of prolonged operation in elevated ambient temperatures. 2 Radio rebroadcast inputs are provided as standard Any of the above controllers will plug directly into the and control all tones and switched outputs as required. 10 New generation eurosmart compact Ultra compact Low current draw High output 77mm 29mm 75mm The new Eurosmart compact is a simple, low cost, very compact siren. The use of latest components and control techniques allows this new generation siren to be small, light and very competitively priced, yet still offering excellent output volume and with a low current consumption. Designed to work with either 1 or 2 of the latest generation lightweight low impedance speakers such as the SC. It can produce up to 118dB(A) from a single speaker at 2M. The intelligent siren can drive either one or two speakers and is compatible with the full range of Haztec Eurosmart handsets, alternatively it can be controlled by using switches to provide 12V or 24V feeds to the relevant programmable inputs. With dimensions of just 75mmD x 77mmW x 29mmH the extremely compact siren is easy to install using a plug in connector to make installation and maintenance simple and quick. The compact siren also includes dual data sockets allowing the siren to be quickly and easily connected to both a Eurosmart handset / controller and a number of Haztec 4 way and 8 way switching modules. This allows the siren to easily become part of a sophisticated siren and control system can contain up to 28 different siren tones. Individual tones are selected using the programmable inputs or using any of the Haztec Eurosmart handsets or dash mount controllers. The siren includes 2 programmable inputs, these are configured via PC software to carry out user selected functions such as siren stop / start, tone change etc. The has dual oscillator technology. When used with 2 speakers, this allows it to produce 2 different siren tones at the same time, or alternatively to generate very piercing fanfare versions of standard tones. This is extremely effective for attracting maximum attention at high risk times. 12 euromax remote mount sirens Euromax range overview Various Euromax models are available, Some systems are available without a separate controller, instead an additional push-button on the microphone or the horn ring transfer allows the siren to be activated and tone selected. Other systems incorporate a control panel, this is either integrated with the amplifier as a single dash mount unit, With remote mount units, the controller is mounted on the dash but the amplifier is fitted remotely and connected to the controller via a data lead. Some models have PA functionality and some models have switched outputs for controlling external equipment such as lighting. 14 speakers Haztec offers a range of speakers that are designed to be coupled to any of the Haztec siren systems. Ensure that the chosen speaker has a rating that is at least equal to and ideally greater than the maximum output of the amplifier unit. For an 80W amplifier, 80 or 100W speakers can be selected, for 100W amplifiers 100W speakers must be used Series speakers 7000 speakers are suitable for all general purpose applications, they are robust and available in a choice of ratings, sizes and designs. T type versions are manufactured from cast metal for maximum resilience. Apart from T style versions, speakers are available with a with a choice of different cowl shapes. The speakers have similar performance characteristics, select the preferred shape to best fit the application. Concealed (C type) speakers have a profile designed for ease of installation in confined spaces, they have a small front to back dimension with a clever acoustic design to direct the sound forwards. 15 speakers 9000 series speakers 9000 series speakers are designed to be mounted into Haztec lightbars. Two types are available, low profile and acoustic. Acoustic types are designed to protrude from the lightbar, whereas low profile types are designed to be mounted within the lightbar. When low profile speakers are fitted within the lightbar, a speaker grille is included incorporating a weather resistant foam barrier to allow the sound to be transmitted whilst providing protection against water ingress.
