5 A closer look at the Low Voltage TR Article 1: Definitions, section 8 Electrical equipment: means all electrical and electronic devices and appliances and fixtures that contain electrical and/or electrical components designed for use with a voltage rating of; V AC V DC With exception of electrical equipment and phenomena listed in Annex 2. Annex 2: Electrical Equipment and phenomena outside the scope of this technical regulation: 1. Electrical equipment of use in an explosive atmosphere 2. For example, to enter KSA today you are required to conduct applicable safety, Energy Efficiency testing to Saudi standards, plus obtain the Regional Certificate of Compliance and necessary Pre-shipment Inspections. 7

8 Post July 1 Requirements with G- Marking GCC Market Entry with G-Marking As of 1 July, G Marking is an incremental requirement on top of existing regional market entry requirements. The G Mark is affixed to show conformity of Technical Regulation BD

19 Technical File Risk Assessment Manufacturers risk assessment covering the life cycle capability of the product. Risk Assessment documentation covers: 1. All anticipated hazard modes (mechanical, electrical, operation, misuse, etc.) 2. Likelihood of hazard mode 3. Severity of hazard mode 4. Risk mitigating tactics (warning labels, guards, shrouds, etc.) 5. FMEA is one possible method of proof 6. Risk ranking and management of exposure 19

20 Technical File Declaration of Conformity Declaration of Conformity Manufacturer s attestation that the product conforms with the Low Voltage Technical Regulations File must be submitted in both English and Arabic If challenged by market surveillance authority, all requested documents may then have to be submitted in Arabic within 20 days of request 20

25 In Closing G Mark Type Certificate is the umbrella for all products defined under list (2). For certain products, energy performance testing under the national regulations will still apply, such as KUCAS / SASO performance testing will be the norm.
