7 City of Melbourne projects a $140,000 of annual energy savings, 1560 tonnes of greenhouse gas reduction and 11,791 kilolitres in water consumption savings As the capital city of the State of Victoria in Australia, the City of Melbourne is committed to achieving its Zero-Net Emissions 2020 strategy and is working with Honeywell to retrofit 13 council buildings in the short term to reduce carbon emissions and deliver significant water and energy savings for the city. The project outlines an ambitious timeline of 18 months that will showcase results to the public and to the business community. Investments made by the City into this program also needed to have tangible bene tangible benefits so that the water and energy reductions translate to fiancial savings as well. The City of Melbourne has signed an agreement with Honeywell to retrofit 13 Council buildings starting in December 2009 which will include a wide range of works including improvements to HVAC systems and building controls, lighting retrofits, solar pool heating system, low flow plumbing fixtures, rainwater harvesting technologies and gas, water & electricity metering using specialised computer systems. The buildings selected for the program are: Melbourne Town Hall Commonwealth Bank Building City Library City Square Car Park Elgin Street Car Park Melbourne City Baths Kensington Community Recreation Centre Carlton Baths Community Centre North Melbourne Baths As a result of the Retrofit Contracts, an array of benefits were achieved for the City of Melbourne: Under the agreement, the program is expected to generate: $140,000 of annual energy savings 1560 tonnes of greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions - equivalent to taking 348 cars off the road 11,791 kilolitres in water consumption savings - equal to reducing enough water needed to fill 52 Olympic pools. In addition, the savings made under the program will repay the investment made by the Council within 15 years. As a longer term goal, the City of Melbourne will work with businesses under the 1200 Buildings program to work through similar retrofit programs to achieve substantial energy and water savings across the city. The combination of financial impact and environmental benefits will have significant impact on the people and businesses that operate in Melbourne and by being proactive, the community can support the achievement of the Zero-Net Emissions goal by 2020.

8 530 Collins Street achieves a guaranteed NABERS performance improvement from 2.5 stars to 5 stars In 2008, The GPT Group (GPT) committed to raising the weighted average NABERS energy rating of its portfolio to 4.5 stars. 530 Collins Street is owned by GPT Wholesale Office Fund. When they embarked on revitalising and renewing 530 Collins Street, they needed to work with a partner who would deliver a comprehensive NABERS improvement project in line with their goals. GPT engaged Honeywell to deliver an Energy Performance Contract with a guaranteed outcome of a 5 star rating NABERS rating with the guarantees continuing for 5 years. 9 Southern District Health Board reduces energy by 10% water by 40% and costs by $5.3m over 15 years. Southern District Health Board (DHB) is New Zealand s southern most provider of public hospital and health services - supporting a population of 304,000 and employing 4,500 staff. The Board wanted improvements in energy efficiency and the tools to manage energy better in the future. Honeywell was chosen to meet these requirements through a number of Energy Performance Contracts (EPCs) which guaranteed the cost reductions for the hospital and showed significant results. These included: More than 10% reduction in annual energy use and cumulative reduction of 6,680 tonnes of carbon emissions delivered in the first 5 years of the guarantee period. 19% steam tonnage reduction through improved controls approaches to space and water heating in , exceeding the guarantee overall. Flow rate reductions of 40% per fi tting through retrofi tting of old water fittings. The District Health Board will save over $5.3m in energy costs over 15 years. Improved reliability leading to better comfort. Improved support for energy management and more accurate forecasting of energy spend. A more environmentally friendly fuel source for Wakari Hospital. When Southern District Health Board wanted improvements in energy efficiency and the tools to manage energy better in the future, partnering with Honeywell for three Energy Performance Contracts delivered the results they needed, leading to substantial carbon reductions.

10 30 Makerston Street leaps from 1.5 to 4.5 stars NABERS Energy rating November 2009, Challenger engaged Honeywell to retrofit Makerston House, a 14 storey commercial office property situated in Brisbane s CBD., The retrofit program focused on HVAC and lighting efficiencyand the solution comprised of a range of energy saving measures: Installation of high efficiency chillers, variable speed drives for the water cooling systems Installation of a new Honeywell BMS and the implementation of new HVAC control strategies such as sequencing of chillers to balance load with cooling demand New lighting controls for the base building and tenancies Improving the water efficiency of the cooling towers Sophisticated dashboards to monitor energy use and building comfort conditions to ensure targets in both areas are met Implementation of afterhours air conditioning control and tenant billing for its use As a result of this project the NABERS Energy rating of the base building has improved from 1.5 Stars to 4.5 stars.
