2 DOCUMENT OBJECTIVE This document is the operators guide for the DETECT LINE system. It describes setting up the system, as well as the various operational modes to aid in the use of the system. 3 TERMINOLOGY The DETECT LINE system is a volumetric detection system for medium and high voltage electric lines in a FREE FIELD. It warns the user by an audible signal and/or a lamp when the high lift equipment comes within a configurable distance of the installation - from 20 to 40 m from a 20kV line according to the type of vehicle. DETECT LINE measures the electrical field around an HV line. During the approach to this, at the configured distance, a continuous audible alarm is set off. If the operator wishes to continue operating in the risk zone, he can, by pressing the button on the face of the Control Module, change to «Report Operation» during a configurable period. 4 OVERVIEW DETECT LINE comprises a Control Module, coupled to a sensor placed on the roof of the vehicle for the detection of the electric field. The two modules are connected by a cable having 8 conductors. The Control Module is supplied by a 2 core cable at 24V, after engaging the power take off of the vehicle. DETECT LINE is an OPERATIONAL AID which allows detection of the proximity of an electric MV or HV line under power in a FREE FIELD. DETECT LINE warns the user by an audible signal and a lamp when the vehicle enters the detection zone of the electric field. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 5 / 25
DETECT LINE measures the electric field around an MV or HV line, and then by analysing this measurement, signals to the vehicle operator the presence of this electric field. Reminder : zone at risk : 3 meters around an MV line, 5 meters for HV : articles 172 et 173 du décret du 8 janvier 1965 modifié par décret du 6 mai 1995).Purement Français? The sensor is tested continuously by the Control Module, to confirm that it is functioning correctly and also to avoid any system failure, which could be dangerous for the work force (Audible and Visual warning of a sensor fault). 4.1 Installation Scheme PTO FUSE 5AT 10m. Supply cable + - BAT 24V 8-core cable to sensor Cable gland fo motion block and horn Electronique du capteur DETECT LINE comprises a sensor for the detection of the electric field. It is positioned on the roof of the vehicle. This sensor communicates continuously with the Control Module, which has a data logger. A remote horn completes the system. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 6 / 25
4.2 Sensor Installation The sensor is attached with either two plywood plates stuck to the cab roof or by a magnetic plate The sensor must be positioned to be in a free field, preferably towards the front of the cab.. In order to mount the sensor, it is necessary to remove the protective cover using a 3 mm Allen Key. Where it is necessary to feed the cable through grommets, the wires can be disconnected from the connecting strip. Do Not disconnect the side with the black plug. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 7 / 25
4.3 The Control Module The front face of the control Module includes: The supply lamps, which must be a steady green whilst the system is operating. An orange lamp for the bus control which flashes. A green horn lamp which is alight when the horn is silent and not when the horn is sounding. The Output 1 is a visual representation of the cut-off relay. The internal «ALARM» (Buzzer) which signals any fault or over threshold of the system. The «Disable Output 1» button which starts the Report Mode and un-blocks the equipment if appropriate. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 8 / 25
5 Setting Up The system is connected to the 24V supply on the engagement of the power take-off, using the two wire cable supplied (10m). The sensor horn assembly is pre-cabled to the control Module with a 10m, 8 core cable. The start-up is automatic, no adjustment by the operator is necessary. 6 OPERATION At turn-on, the DETECT LINE gives 2 beeps and a short horn burst, and then interrogates the sensor. (At start-up, all the relays except the horn are cycled twice). If the ambient electric field exceeds the fixed threshold : The DETECT LINE sounds the «HORN» The DETECT LINE sounds the internal buzzer (ALARM) for the duration of the detection. The DETECT LINE actions the «OUTPUT 1». Via the «RELAY 1», it can be coupled to the hydraulics by a solenoid valve opening a pressure release (which serves to block the movement) or any other means of stopping the movement of the vehicle equipment. The user must press the «Disable OUTPUT 1» button, so as to un-block the OUTPUT 1 (Which serves to unlock the movement) or otherwise press the Report Button on the remote buzzer. Thus it is sure that the user is well aware of the presence of the HV line. The DETECT LINE actions the rotating beacon output for the duration of the detection. After this phase, if the ambient electric field is still present : The DETECT LINE actions the internal buzzer for the duration of the detection to remind the operator of the danger. The DETECT LINE disables the «OUTPUT 1», un-blocking the system. The DETECT LINE commands a horn reminder of two bursts every two minutes The DETECT LINE commands a reminder on the remote buzzer of one burst each 30 seconds. At the end of the programmed «Report Operation» period (1 hour) the system reverts to the alarm mode until the Report button is pressed again. 6.1 Report Mode If the system is close to an MV line (220Kv), it is possible that the detection distances become too large. Because of this the use of the system can become problematic due to the movement being blocked and the noise of the horn. In these circumstances, the user can press the «Report» button. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 9 / 25
If the ambient electric field is still present : The DETECT LINE actions the internal buzzer for the duration of the detection to remind the operator of the danger. 6.2 Report Button Report button The Report mode is activated by pressing the button on the front face or the button on the remote buzzer. Note: once the Report mode is activated, this remains valid until the system is restarted or the end of the Report Operation period of 1 hour. 6.3 Defective Sensor If the DETECT LINE is unable to interrogate the sensor, The horn flashes slowly and the relay 1 is activated (movement blocked). The user must press the «Disable OUTPUT 1» button in order to un-block the movement or otherwise press the report button on the remote buzzer. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 10 / 25
But the horn still sounds as the system is not operational. 6.4 Faulty Control Module On turn-on, by engaging the power take-off, the DETECT LINE runs a self-test. It gives an audible signal (horn and buzzer) and activates the OUTPUT 2 (RELAY 2). If the Control Module does not start, the horn is blown continuously (unless the fuse is blown). The user must check that the Control Module (situated in the cab) is ON (lamps and screen illuminated). The internal buzzer corresponds to the buzzer on the front face of the Control Module. The remote buzzer corresponds to the buzzer on the remote radio. The horn corresponds to the device connected on the horn output which functions opposite to the LED «horn» on the front face. This output is generally connected to a vehicle-type horn Option 1 corresponds to relay 1 which functions opposite or not to the LED «OUTPUT1» on the front face. This output is generally for blocking the movement. A Rotating Beacon can also be fitted. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 11 / 25
7 Câblage 7.1 Wiring in the Control Module The OUTPUT 1 serves to block le equipment movement. The terminals TRC correspond to the relay terminals: (Travail - Repos Commun) = (Operation- Disabled-Common). The external warning is either a horn or a «reversing beep». A 12-24V distribution supply is available as well as an earth to drive, if desired, a solenoid valve on the OUTPUT 1. A «Report» button can be fitted outside the cab if the Control Module is inside. The current rating of the relays (output 1 and external horn) is 5A maximum. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 12 / 25

10 THE REMOTE BUZZER A radio interface is possible between the DETECT LINE Control Module and a small portable receiver. The receiver module, with a coat clip, transmits an audible signal and a vibration to the operator. The monitoring of the radio transmission, of the correct operation of the system, the change to discrete mode, and the receiver battery state are managed by the control module.. Range : 100 m in a free field. Initialisation of the remote BUZZER SKY / DETECT LINE : The initialisation of the module is performed at the first start-up. The SKY / DETECT LINE Control Module must be operating and alone in the range of action of the radio module (100m). By pressing the REPORT button at the same time as the ON button, the module communicates with the Control Module which records its number. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 16 / 25
10.1 Operation of the remote buzzer On the side of the remote buzzer there is an ON/OFF button. At turn-on, the remote buzzer gives a series of short buzzes, and then associates itself with the Control Module to which it has been declared. The yellow LED flashes continuously at each transmission to the Control Module. The red LED signals a fault or an alarm at the same time as the buzzer. The button is used to put the system in Report Mode during an alarm or for un-blocking during start-up. The remote buzzer monitors its battery (9V); When this is low it buzzes with the yellow LED not illuminated. If the buzzer buzzes and the yellow LED flashes, there is an alarm, either for a fault or for passing the threshold, which comes from the Control Module Changing the remote buzzer battery When the remote buzzer indicates low battery, the 9V battery must be changed in its compartment on the back of the buzzer. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 17 / 25
11 OPERATIONAL RESTRICTION The DETECT LINE system is an operational aid. The operator must maintain a maximum of VIGILANCE and AWARENESS when approaching powered electric lines. The operational principle employed is the measure of the electric field radiated by the conductors. DETECT LINE has been validated for use in a FREE FIELD: with no physical obstacles between the sensor and the electric line. DETECT LINE detects powered overhead electric lines from volts. LV lines (380V) are not detected at the same distances. Unusual cases (Crossing or parallel lines) can modify the value of the electric field. In these cases, additional prudence is necessary. The MADE company declines any responsibility for use of its systems other than in conformity with the manufacturers specifications. The MADE company cannot be held responsible for an accident by contact with electric lines, considering the multiplicity of specific cases encountered in the field. GU_DETECT_LINE_V_6_10_EN 18 / 25
12 CUMA OPTION For vehicles on which it is appropriate, including agricultural vehicles with a «spout», it is possible to place the REPORT button and the warning lamp within the field of vision of the driver and near to the «spout» control lever.
