8 7 Dubai Metro, United Arab Emirates When the world s longest, fully automated, driverless railway system needed 2000 seats spread across multiple locations, it turned to a manufacturer with a proven track record Zoeftig. Any seating solution would have to satisfy a number of very specific customer requirements. For instance, with the Dubai Metro 52km in length and the seats spread across 47 separate stations, smooth logistical management of component parts when packing and despatching was vital. It was also essential for any seating to be aesthetically appealing and architecturally pleasing, to fit in with the striking, state of the art surroundings and interiors of the metro station. All this, at the same time as meeting stringent quality criteria, and being robust enough to withstand the rigors of 23,000 passengers per direction per hour. A further important consideration was Dubai s extreme temperatures. The very hot and arid climate, not to mention the corrosive effect of the sea air, would have an inevitable dulling effect on any traditional polished products, and chroming was not an option because of its perceived environmental impact. The Zoeftig response was typically innovative. By modifying the specification of the aluminium arm and leg castings on an existing airport product, Zenky Perforated stainless steel, we created a seating solution capable of withstanding Dubai s humid and salty environment, without the need for chroming. What s more, we provided the perfect visual complement for the Metro s stunning interiors by redesigning a contemporary new perforation pattern for the seat and back steels. Not only did its crisp, clean lines deliver a distinctive and attractive solution, the new pattern also improved product strength. Quality assured to ISO 9001:2008, the seating even incorporates specialist bespoke insulation components to protect seat users from earth leakage. In short, Zoeftig has provided a seating solution that more than lives up to the Dubai Metro vision to supply Safe and smooth transport for all.truly, seating setting the station standard.

9 The national rail network, UK The UK boasts one of the largest and densest rail networks in the world. More recently, increasing road congestion and rising motoring costs in Britain have helped its railway to become the fastest growing in Europe (and the fifth most used in the world). With hundreds of people passing through its stations every single day, platform seating needs to be resilient. Since the UK s railway operations were privatised during the 1990s, a number of regional operators have managed the vast network of stations, each with different challenges and requirements. Zoeftig works with the leading UK operators, including Network Rail, Arriva, Docklands Light Railway, and First Group franchises: First Great Western, First ScotRail, First Capital Connect, and First Transpennine. Rail clients return to Zoeftig time and again because they know they can rely on us for the right products, service and quality on every platform, every time. 10 City Cruise Terminal, Western docks, Southampton, UK When the firmly established capital of the UK s cruise industry needed a seating solution for the refurbishment of a cruise terminal, it set a course for Zoeftig. Our success and capability are already well proven in the cruise industry. In 2009, Zoeftig supplied Zenky seating for Associated British Ports new 19 million Ocean Cruise Terminal in Southampton. Following on from this success, the Zenky product has now been specified for the refurbishment of the City Cruise Terminal in Southampton s Western Docks. With its sleek profile and attractive design, Zenky offered precisely the right levels of durability, comfort and style for the ocean-side installation. 11 Portsmouth International Port, Portsmouth, UK

12 Digbeth Bus Station, Birmingham, UK Digbeth Bus Station sits right in the heart of the UK s second city and was completely rebuilt as part of a multi-million pound redevelopment of Birmingham city centre. The new facility required the installation of over 200 seats that needed to be delivered and installed in record time and also help the new station achieve its strict sustainability aspirations. The seating was a mix of three and four unit configurations of the iconic Zenky range and provided the perfect waiting area for passengers travelling around the UK and further afield with leading coach company National Express. The new station was awarded an Excellent rating under the BRE Environmental Assessment Method and boasts a double height, illuminated and fully glazed enclosed concourse with modern passenger information displays and dedicated seating for each waiting bay, along with temperature controlled waiting areas delivering additional comfort for passengers. Zoeftig provided high quality and comfortable seating for our passengers in the new Digbeth Bus Station. 13 Blackfriars railway station, London, UK Before spectators took their seats for the spectacular opening ceremony at the London Olympics on 27th July 2013, we took our seats to London Blackfriars railway station as part of a 5.5 million station re-development. It was essential for any seating to be durable and hardwearing as well as stylish, not only to cope with the influx of many thousands of passengers from all over the world for the Games but also to provide comfortable ergonomically designed seating for many years to come once the Olympics had finished. The beautifully designed perforated stainless steel Zenky seats provide an ideal complement to the striking interiors of the new-look station, and in addition to meeting stringent environmental demands, also incorporate ingenious features such as highly visible yellow arms to aid passengers with impaired vision. Zoeftig has provided and installed sports seating to many sports facilities in the UK including the De Montfort University QEII sports hall in Leicester, which seats in excess of 800 people. The seating systems are bespoke to each requirement and exceptionally durable being provided with moulded plastic bench seating, easily cleaned decks. The systems can be one man operation by means of power operation and self storing handrails. Options available included plastic folding backrest for enhanced comfort and dedicated wheelchair spaces within the seating system. 36 Bristol Airport, Bristol Bristol Airport opened its doors to a new 8.5 million extension in 2015, continuing a commitment to invest in and expand one of the UK s fastest growing airports. Officially unveiled by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, the multi-million pound terminal extension will help the airport meet the needs of growing passenger numbers, with annual throughput having increased to a record 6.7 million in The unveiling of the terminal extension follows a 12-month build programme which culminated in the development of a significantly enlarged departure lounge, featuring hundreds of additional luxury seats, the opening of several new retail and catering brands and a second executive lounge. The 3,880m 2 development includes four new pre-boarding areas featuring floor-to-ceiling glass walls, which serve to maximise the stunning views and increase the amount of natural light into the space. The desire to marry good design with practicality was a key requirement and ambition of the developers, with the choice of colours and textures in particular taking inspiration from the airport s local area and its many ecological treasures. The use of timber and reeds alongside interior planting were used to reflect the region s natural beauty, whilst a striking lighting feature makes use of Bristol s iconic blue glass to dramatic effect, with the glass chandelier sculpted in the shape of the River Avon flowing through the city. When selecting the new seating, the same set of criteria applied, and so award winning and internationally renowned manufacturer, Zoeftig, was chosen as preferred supplier. Zoeftig has designed seating solutions for many of the world s leading airport terminals: Dubai, New York and Hong Kong to name but a few. Zoeftig s internationally popular Zenky Plus seating was chosen by designers - 2,200 currently installed - as a perfect complement to the new Central Pier development; an area that connects directly to the new departure lounge. Zoeftig s Zenky Plus seats were originally designed specifically for the North American market, offering larger seat and back measurements than its standard Zenky design. Zenky Plus offers the same unrivalled strength and durability as the standard Zenky seat, with seating configurations available in linear, Curve, Solo and Duo cluster; with Intelligent USB power supply options also available. With 646,000 passengers travelling through the airport s gates in the months leading up to the opening, the new facility will serve to ease congestion in the departure lounge at peak travel times, as well as enhance the wider passenger experience, of which practical, comfortable customer seating is an essential part. The airport s expansion didn t stop there either, as work is now completed on a second terminal extension, to the western end of the main building. The 24 million project has transformed the security search process for passengers since it opened in summer 2016, as well as creating an enlarged baggage reclaim area, customs facilities, arrivals retail, and an improved meet and greet area. Improvements in customer seating will continue to play a central role in the airport s evolution, and its commitment to continue to enhance its national and international reputation. 35

37 Birmingham International Airport, UK When the UK s third largest airport outside London needed seating solutions for a newly refurbished terminal area, Zoeftig was the clear choice. The initial contract was for over 700 Zenky seats with all products designed, manufactured and assembled in the UK and delivered pre-assembled in order to meet the tight build schedule. Having completed the initial installation on time and on budget, Zoeftig was selected again when the new International Pier was commissioned to host Emirates business class passengers. A further 1,000 Zenky seats were ordered comprising standard Zenky with espresso upholstery, plus 32 specially made PRM seats in blue vinyl, giving the Pier the desired touch of class. We have been very pleased with Zoeftig s product line and level of service. After working with them to successfully supply and install several hundred Zenky seats at the airport in 2007 to our complete satisfaction, we had no hesitation in ordering more seating from Zoeftig for our new International Pier. The seats were well received for their combination of style, robust engineering and comfort, and continue to perform faultlessly under the weight of some of the busiest passenger traffic in the world. 38 Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, USA Where in-seat power is concerned, America is driving demand in the market. Zoeftig is the market leader and continues to be the innovator for in-seat power solutions, supplying many of the world s leading airport terminals. Demand continues to soar in the US, and this is driven by a desire to give passengers the comforts that they expect from a modern terminal. Atlanta s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) is the latest in a long line of installations, with Zoefitg having been tasked by Delta Airlines to supply 8000 seats to the facility, with its infinite product chosen as the must-have seating solution. Central to the overall seating design was the provision of power, which needed to be available in every seat and under tables, where appropriate. Between-seat power was supplied for around 50% of the units. Delta Airlines challenged Zoeftig to design a new power module for the infinite seating system, to be positioned in front of the double arm spacing. In typical Zoeftig style, the challenge was met and a new, exciting Boost power system was born; adding to the company s already impressive roster of power solutions. In addition to the bespoke power requirements, Zoeftig was also tasked with completing works in under nine months less than half of the normal month time frame for conception through to installation. The seat can be tailored to suit individual design requirements, both in terms of dimensions and finished. The underside of the seat can be either upholstered, exposed painted, polished or veneered plywood panel. The same detail can also be reflected on the outside of the seat back. A number of alternative types of writing ledge construction are also available, including laminated, veneered, marmoleum and solid timber. All seats are upholstered with fire retardant fabrics from a wide range of cloths from various manufacturers. 51
