2 TREND Velvet. Cosy. Colour. Curved & BEAUTIFUL Hotel U - Antwerpen Trends are mostly launched in fashion and are picked-up by design. There is a thin line between both worlds as the materials used for clothes, fabrics, play a major role also in furniture design. Leading company in contract fabrics Kvadrat for example works together both with famous furniture designers like Patricia Urquiola as well as Raf Simons, our own well known fashion designer. 3 Simplicity. Minimalism. Functionality. SCANDINAVIAN Fresh & BRIGHT The Scandinavian design movement emerged in the 1950 s in the five Nordic countries. The idea that beautiful and functional everyday objects should not only be affordable to the wealthy, but to all, is a core theme in the development of modernism and functionalism. Until ten years ago most of our suppliers were Italian. The past years we have started working with several Nordic companies such as Carl Hansen and Hay and we are very happy to have recently added Menu to our collections as they bring beautiful and fresh design. 4 Retro. Worn. Leather. Patina. VINTAGE Just like trend, vintage is a term that is often used in clothing and fashion. It actually refers to a previous era and refers to old furniture that is reused. Also new collections inspired on 50 s, 60 s and 70 s design are referred to as Vintage. Often the structures of these chairs are in metal that is bent and welded in combination with wood or upholstery. In Manhattn s burger restaurant Pinkeye design studio has chosen an industrial chair and gave it a very fresh touch by staining the seat and back yellow.
