In the last years collection has been progressively enlarged, starting from the big sculptural vases, for which Serralunga is the world leader, with furniture, to give the opportunity to our old and new clients to harmoniously complement projects for outdoor environments, with our sun-beds, chairs, tables, characterized by their elegance and contemporaneity. High quality and resistance to weathering, give the possibility to create a natural and progressive transition from indoor toward outdoor, by enlarging the living spaces, to be enjoyed crosswise. Since ever designed by the most important architects and international designers, this tradition is renewed by a constant research and selection of new talents, to convey and play in a new way its own identity. Novelty of 2012 the big pots Cone by Naoto Fukasawa and Primavera by Eero Aarnio, going on with the tradition of the giant pots, produced with the rotomoulding technology, and the original Terra pot by Katja Pettersson, reinventing a concept of vase, not only as container for soil, but something new starting from wast of plastic materials. Among the furnishings, the lovely chair by Paolo Rizzatto, in its many aesthetic and chromatic interpretations: a small and comfortable, cheerful and stylish chair, suitable for contract indoor and outdoor environments. To complete the Barceloneta collection by Raffaella Mangiarotti, two new tables: a small side table and a lounge table, that allows to use the armchair even for lunch. Another big bet this year has been the colour project, edited by Raffaella Mangiarotti, a journey reviewing the entire colour range, looking for new natural and soft shades, with desaturated tones, studied to be matched, and giving suggestions for more creative interpretations. A versatile object that, depending on the finishes, blends with various environments: a basic version with a natural finish or a more sophisticated option in a lacquered finish. It could perfectly suit as night table near a bed, as side table near the armchair, but in the garden as well, or in office, or even in a waiting room between two chairs, supporting a cup of coffee or a magazine whilst waiting. The slot can easily keep objects, magazines, or your favourite book. Fabio Bortolani ed Ermanno Righi An architect and designer in constant evolution, Fabio Bortolani lives and works in Spilamberto in the province of Modena, where he was born in 1957.

After graduating in architecture from the University of Florence, in 1991 he began working as a designer, an activity for which he has received many international awards, including the acquisition of

4 Fabio Bortolani ed Ermanno Righi An architect and designer in constant evolution, Fabio Bortolani lives and works in Spilamberto in the province of Modena, where he was born in His experience includes numerous collaborations with various Italian and foreign companies, including Agape, Authentics, Alessi, Calligaris, Driade, Cappellini, Teracrea, Zilio, Tonelli and others. After graduating in architecture from the University of Florence, in 1991 he began working as a designer, an activity for which he has received many international awards, including the acquisition of segreta in 1997, a mini-scale stool designed for Driade, by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Design Plus prize in Frankfurt. In 2001 he received the selection of Compasso d oro with the product Djerba, a liquid soap dispenser designed for Agape. Born in Carpi October 4, 1955, he studied engineering and had a successful career in private companies up to management levels. In the late 80s leaving multinational companies because of dissatisfaction he became a freelancer and consultant in all different sectors of mechanics. For private clients or in collaboration with research institutes he has developed many innovative projects. He has founded and participates in several research companies and development projects that are successful in the field of advanced technology. Developing patents, he has accumulated more than 15 in applied mechanics in all different product sectors. Research and development continues today to be his main business. The latest creation for Serralunga is a tribute to the sculptural tradition that has marked the history of vases for this Biella based company. Engaged in new ideas of furniture he designed the Ball Chair already in 1963; it was produced some years later. Material (fibre glass) and shape were complete novelties for that time's furniture industry. In the following years fibre glass as used in boat construction became one of Aarnio's favorite materials. The resistant and well workable fibre glass enabled Aarnio to design ergonomic forms without restrictions - and intriguing new ones too. Line: Inspired by the recyclability of the Serralunga products, as made Function of polyethylene and polypropylene, Katja has developed a design which Material : uses the recovery of rubber from inner tyre-tubes, which is comprised of 92% recycled materials. The result is an unusual object, alternative and capable of arousing curiosity. Rubber material is used as a cover that conceals the container underneath holding the plant and soil, and creates a visual effect similar to that of piled earth or waste. A truly artistic and original piece. 10 Katja Petterson Katja Pettersson, one of the founders of the design group FRONT, are now working as a senior lecturer Beckmans College of Design. Katja has worked and studied within a broad spectrum of design. Before studying industrial design at the Royal College of Art and Design (Konstfack) she worked in theatres and with textiles. During her studies she founded the design group FRONT together with three other students. FRONT has exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the MoMA in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the London Design Museum and the National Museum in Stockholm. The group has also been awarded a number of design prizes, among them Designer of the Future at ArtBasel Miami in FRONT is represented in the collections of the National Museum in Stockholm, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Centre Pompidou in France. Katja Pettersson has been working as an independent designer since 2009 and works with investigating design projects. This vase was created by expressing the essence of this iconic shape" Naoto Fukasawa. This pot is a new interpretation of the Serralunga vase, that every year enriches with the vision of big performers in terms of culture, architecture and design. It is inspired by an iconic shape but in an oversized dimension, which makes it unique and extremely striking. It is manufactured with rotational moulding technology, available in various colours mat or lacquered, and in the illuminated version. 13 Naoto Fukasawa Born in Yamanashi in 1956, he graduated from Tama Art University s Product Design Department. As an in-house designer, he engaged in the design of microelectronic devices including watches. In 1989, Fukasawa moved to the United States and joined IDEO which was a very rare case for Japanese product designers of that time. It was the time when Silicon valley was experiencing rapid growth in computer technology and Fukasawa became involved in the design of computers, electronics, medical equipment, furniture and sporting goods. In 1996 he returned to Japan, where he set up and headed IDEO s Tokyo office. In 2003 he established Naoto Fukasawa Design. Fukasawa s approach for product design is very original and his Without Thought, and Design dissolving in behavior are internationally supported. Fukasawa regards achieving simpleness in design as a way to achieve completeness and a harmonious relationship between users, objects and environments as a purpose for design. Such a way of thinking is also described as Outline. Outline is about defining the boundaries of relationships between objects, people and environment. Today, Fukasawa is based in Tokyo with his small team and collaborates with many international leading companies. Being accorded the title of Honorable Royal Designer for Industry (Royal Society of Arts) in 2007 is one of the examples. Fukasawa has received a number of international awards. Fukasawa is one of the directors of 21_21 Design Site, as well as acting on the design advisory board of MUJI. He acts as the chairman for GOOD DESIGN AWARD. He is a professor at Musashino Art University, a visiting professor at Tama Art University, and a member of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry s Research Group on Applications for Strategic Design.
