2 Press Release ELEGANT, EXQUISITE AND VERSATILE: SATTLER AT LIGHT+BUILDING EXHIBITION 2016 From a delicate elliptical shape to a room-spanning structure: SATTLER presents new luminaires which reflect the company s extensive expertise. Elegant, exquisite and tailor-made for exclusive interiors: SATTLER is presenting new luminaires at this year s Light+Building Exhibition. The modular Avveni product range, which has been developed in collaboration with the code2design agency, will be shown for the very first time. Avveni luminaires can be used to illuminate either as a single spot or as a complex structure spanning an entire room. Like all SATTLER designs, this modular system surprises by its extraordinarily intricate solutions and extremely high quality detail. SATTLER has also added two new pendant luminaires to their range: Slim Ellipse and Doppio Ellipse, two filigree luminaires which are predestined to harmonically illuminate elongated objects. Both new product lines show the infinite number of possibilities which SATTLER creates using geometrical shapes. Avveni was designed as a modular system which can be adapted to interior conditions and extended in many different ways. 3 as pendant luminaire. Ulrich Sattler, owner, CEO, and designer at SATTLER GmbH, has always had the concept of a highly flexible system in mind. Starting with an individual luminaire, he has managed to develop the concept of a chain-like or reticular modular structure. From Spot to Canopy From one central point, the luminaire can be run along the ceiling, branched out, or joined to form a spectacular, dome-shaped canopy. Due to its complex structural design, Avveni is also predestined for lighting large and high ceiling rooms in commercial buildings. It is an embedded magnetic joint that makes Avveni so highly flexible: The light heads can be easily removed and exchanged by simply popping them in and out. Moreover, the magnetic joint allows for an almost 360 degree rotation of the light heads. The light head itself has also been designed to be extremely flexible in its application: One may choose between a spot version and a flood version. When using the spot variant, the beam angle may be chosen between nine and 60 degrees via a snap-in system and different adaptor lenses which are available. Furthermore, this system allows for shifting the light colour and attaching anti-glare lenses. For structures of up to five light heads, the power is supplied via the steel suspension cables. A separate supply line is only necessary for more complex structures. Ideal for the Illumination of Reception Rooms: New Variations of the Oval Both new Slim Ellipse and Doppio Ellipse luminaires, which can either be suspended with thin steel cables or mounted directly on the ceiling, are elegant and luminous. Ulrich Sattler considers the elliptical design a further development of the circular design and therefore specifically suitable for reception rooms, foyers, or conference areas. In addition to that, the elliptical shape of the luminaires, which measure up to 275 cm in length and 103 cm in width, can be used to perfectly illuminate oblong dining or conference tables. In total, SATT- LER offers three sizes. The Slim Ellipse luminaire exclusively gives off direct light, whereas the Doppio Ellipse also emits indirect light to brighten the ceiling. This exquisite luminaire is manufactured from an aluminium profile, merely 20 mm in height, and a diffuser. Like all designs by SATTLER, both elliptical shapes use LED lights. 8 Press Release A NEW HOME FOR SATTLER The new SATTLER corporate headquarters are functional as well as representative. Visitors enjoy the warm and light ambiance. In spring 2015, SATTLER moved into their new corporate headquarters in Göppingen, Baden-Württemberg. The new corporate building was designed by two renowned architectural offices based in Stuttgart: Rolf Loew (conception and construction management) and Raiserlopes (interior design). It integrates all corporate units in one place from design development to production. Visitors and staff enjoy the open and communicative atmosphere as well as the short distances between the different departments. The new corporate headquarters in Göppingen present themselves as an unostentatious, functional building with largely-dimensioned windows extending down to the floor. When entering the foyer, the visitor immediately experiences the wide range of SATTLER luminaires and a surprisingly open and warm ambiance: Exquisite elliptic shapes or circles floating from the ceiling, complemented by a sculpture of illuminated acrylic glass bars. The SATTLER showroom is spacious and simultaneously serves as a foyer including a reception, a coffee bar, a lounge, and a meeting area. 9 Reduced Materials, Sophisticated Finish Materials such as exposed concrete, cast plaster floors and real wood surfaces were used exclusively throughout the entire building. Consistent use of high-quality construction materials create a soothing atmosphere. Black wall and ceiling elements, grey concrete areas and wooden surfaces in warm shades of brown present a natural colour spectrum, which is complemented by strong colour accents in the office areas. Short Distances, Good Communication, More Efficiency All departments in the SATTLER company now have their own designated area in the new corporate building from the Design Department to Construction, Production, Sales and Export up to the Accounts Department. Direct communication, short distances and respectful interaction were our goals for the use of the new headquarters, explains company owner and CEO Ulrich Sattler. The short distances between the Design, Production and Technology Departments are invaluable in finding solutions together by liaising closely, thus enabling the realization of projects more efficiently. Meticulously Planned Lighting Concept Due to the diligently implemented design principles, the entire company headquarters are characterized by openness and spaciousness. The lighting concept, which has been planned meticulously, also adds to this pleasant atmosphere: There isn t a single light switch in the entire building because the lighting is controlled by the connecdim light management system from Tridonic, which uses daylight and motion detection. The sculptural SATTLER designs stand out with their distinctive beauty in this calm light scenario, thus accentuating the representative areas such as the foyer and the showroom. Energy Efficiency SATTLER s goal was to reach the highest possible energy efficiency standards in their new building. In order to achieve that, the temperature in the entire building including the production areas are controlled via a floor heating system with an integrated heat pump, thus enabling low flow temperatures and low consumption values. Staff members also have the opportunity to create an ideal indoor climate: The showroom as well as the offices have been equipped with a central air conditioning unit that can be controlled individually in each area of the building. Everything Under One Roof The staff in the family-owned enterprise is excited to have the ability to demonstrate the SATTLER luminaires to visitors or customers directly in the company headquarters. Moreover, visitors will get direct insight into the production process. 12 Press Release LIGHT SHAPES CORPORATE CULTURE Extensive Lighting Design by SATTLER in the New Münzing Corporate Building Luminaires Harmonize with the Architectural Concept For the new corporate building of Münzing Chemie GmbH in Germany, SATTLER created a holistic lighting solution for the representative areas of the building in coordination with the Heilbronn-based architecture firm Müller. Ring-shaped luminaires are used as distinctive stylistic elements throughout the building, which harmonize perfectly with the architectural and interior design. The new administration and lab building of the Münzing Chemie company in Abstatt was built by müller.architekten. Its semi-circular shape is nestled into a park and is unobstrusively situated at the edge of a residential area. A significant stylistic element in the spaciously designed and light-flooded building is the circular shape, which has been consistently integrated in the architecture and interior design as well as in the outdoor area. Close cooperation between the architecture firm Müller and SATTLER enabled the development of the lighting design for the representative areas. The large-dimensioned ANELLO circular light can be seen through the glass front from outside and draws one s attention immediately. The light sculpture made by SATTLER is six meters in diameter and illuminates the spaciously designed reception area and spans both floors. More sculptural luminaires from the Anello product range lend the foyer an exclusive ambiance. 13 Light as Part of an Open Corporate Culture Already upon entering the building, the stylish and bright reception area conveys the impression of an active and open corporate culture to which we wanted to significantly contribute with our luminaires, explains Ulrich Sattler, owner and CEO of the company. SATTLER products were also used in the meeting area. The slim pendant luminaires from the Doppio product range, emanating direct and indirect light, help create a pleasant and calm atmosphere, which is conducive to concentration during a meeting. Other luminaires from the Slim product range were integrated in the cafeteria and complete the technically sophisticated and optically appealing lighting design. All luminaires from the Doppio and Slim product range come in a tasteful white color. The large light sculpture in the foyer features a hand-polished surface, which lends the impressive luminaire, six meters in diameter, brilliancy and luminosity. Holistic Approach: Acoustic Screens Support the Lighting Design In order to reduce the sound level and to optimize the room acoustics of the entrance area, which has been fitted with a stone floor, more than 60 round acoustic screens made by SATTLER have been integrated in addition to the circular lights on the ground floor and the first floor. Suspended from thin steel cables and from different heights, the acoustic screens have been equipped with sound-absorbing acoustic membranes and are partly backlit, which results in improved acoustics with an additional indirect light component for a homogeneous illumination of the room. Furthermore, they enable an elegant concealment of technical components. Nature in the Building The Münzing Chemie logo from preserved moss designed by SATTLER serves as an eyecatcher above the reception desk and conveys the corporate identity of the company. The discreetly backlit object was produced from polished aluminium, fitted with moss material by art aqua and meticulously handcrafted. Its concept is a variant of the SATTLER light objects from the Luce Verde product range. The logo refers to a planted wall in the cafeteria designed by art aqua. Well-balanced Lighting Design and Sophisticated Light Control System In cooperation with the architect, SATTLER focused on a well-balanced lighting design with a perfect combination of natural and artificial light. The LED luminaires are integrated in an intelligent DALI control system and can be dimmed. The lighting can be either used to accentuate or to create a pleasant working atmosphere for meetings. 17 Press Release ATMOSPHERIC AMBIANCE SATTLER illuminates the Andrea Lange Institute of Culinary Arts with exquisite pendant luminaires. They accentuate the dining tables and the elaborately restored ambiance. Atmospheric light for culinary creations: SATTLER illuminates the historic and stylistically varied ambiance of the Andrea Lange Institute of Culinary Arts in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The graceful pendant luminaires from the Doppio and Slim Ellipse product range provide a vibrant setting for the dining tables and emphasize the architecture of the elaborately restored timber frame construction. In 2015, the Andrea Lange Institute of Culinary Arts moved into one of the oldest buildings on Market Square in Ludwigsburg. Before that, the entire floor of 200 sqm was re-designed from an architectural and lighting standpoint. After gutting the timber frame construction, the architects Walter Henger and Volker Heyn, based in Ludwigsburg, created a connection to the history of the building by restoring the oak floor, by carefully renovated ceilings and by handcrafted doors. The rooms were re-allocated: In addition to the generously dimensioned kitchen as the centre of the Institute, the big and small dining rooms as well as the trophy room serve as inviting spaces for wonderful meals. New and old furniture, modern art and an antler collection everything has its designated space. This vibrant mixture of different styles is illuminated impressively by the exquisite and sculptural luminaires made by SATTLER. Special Lighting Ambiance The circular luminaires in the Doppio range and the oval Slim Ellipse luminaires, newly developed by SATTLER, create a special lighting ambiance above the various dining and party tables. After intensive work in the kitchen, the participants of the cooking events enjoy their culinary creations under unobstrusive and pleasant light, which is evenly cast on the tables. The indirectly emanating light emphasises the historic stucco ceiling and imparts the entire ambiance sophistication and atmosphere. Even for daytime events, the lights remain switched on. In combination with daylight, which emanates from the large windows facing southwest, the luminaires harmonically and evenly distribute the light in the rooms.
