Piddington Pod FREE September Oxo Tower Wharf Courtyard Using upcycled copper cladding, UCA graduate Christina Piddington is installing a large scale copper pod, representing sanctuary, somewhere to rest, recuperate and relax. Diaspora Dynamics: The 2015 AACDD Bargehouse Festival FREE September 11am 6pm Bargehouse The AACDD (African and African-Caribbean Design Diaspora) festival returns to Bargehouse this year exhibiting the dynamic talent of African and African-Caribbean designers and artists created within the diaspora. Art, design, film, photography, and textiles will flood all five floors of the building during the 6th edition of this festival of creativity. There will also be a programme of workshops and seminars taking place as part of the festival.

Imagination Lab FREE September 11am 5pm Platform Oxo Tower Wharf Courtyard Imagination Lab is a unique space for children aged 5-11 years old and their families to apply their imagination to unlock our future. Using animation clay, paper craft, 3D-printed figure models, and a digitally painted projection globe, children can create out-of-this-world models and designs for our future universe. Run by The Institute of Imagination in partnership with People United and funded by the Clore Duffield Foundation. ARCHITECTURAL JEWELS Various dates Studio Fusion Unit 1.06 Three international jewellers will show a wide range of unique, contemporary jewellery and body pieces inspired by aspects of architecture. Plus a wall installation from an architectural glass artist will be on display, alongside a series of informal free talks from the artists to discuss their individual approaches to design: Saturday 19 September 2pm 5pm Joan MacKarell: Transitioning enamel from jewellery to public art installations. Sunday 20 September 2pm 5pm Susan Kinley: Interacting with public spaces light, colour, imagery and place. Wednesday 23 September 2pm 5pm Gudde Jane Skyrme: Small scale art from architecture. WEAVING TALK & WORKSHOP September 12 noon 3pm Archipelago Textiles Unit 1.07 Luxury textile designer Doreen Gittens will be running a series of special talks and demonstrations on the process of designing and weaving. Hulot bags, Karen Mabon Scarves and The Printed Peanut. DANISH DJEWELETTES September Mikala Djørup Jewellery Unit 1.16 Showcasing a selection of contemporary jewellery rooted in the Danish tradition with five female Danish jewellers taking over the studio. PUT YOUR STAMP ON IT DESIGN YOUR OWN IDENTITY JEWELLERY September & September 11am 6pm JeDeCo (Jewellery Designers Collective) Unit 1.17 Two weekends of interactive events offering you the chance to work with their designers to make your very own personalised identity pendant or bracelet with letters, symbols and colours of your choice. This promises to be a fun project for creative people of all ages. JAPANESE KOKEDAMA WAGUMI September (closed 21 September) 11am 6pm Unit 1.08 Staff from specialist Japanese craftsmanship and design shop Wagumi will show you how to create and maintain a traditional Japanese kokedama (moss ball) plant display for your house and garden and how it can be combined with Arita porcelain. Kokedama made in store will be available for purchase. Prints Charming: Drop-in printmaking workshop outside Southbank Printmakers (weather permitting) 23 September, from 4pm, Unit 12 Have fun creating your own design onto a printmaking block and pulling a handmade, original print to take home. Led by Sally Cutler, member of Southbank Printmakers Gallery, a professional printmaker and experienced art tutor. Suitable for all ages. 5 per participant (includes all materials). Funki Fresh, Unit 13 Joanne Plumb designs and makes gorgeous women s knitwear. Join Funki Fresh during the festival for a series of live knitting demonstrations. Henrietta Park, Unit 7 Henrietta Park specialises in felting pure wool and lambswool to create a vibrant range of clothing. Enjoy live knitting demonstrations and the chance to find out more about the collection. LAGOM, Unit 6 Driven by a love of all things beautiful, Irena Lane designs and makes luxurious ladies wear for any occasion. House of Eunice, Unit 9 For London Design Festival there will be new clothing, scarves and shawls, jewellery and home accessories available to view and buy from this fair-trade collection. Nordic Nic Nac, Unit 14 Live knitting and sewing demonstrations and new products from Scandinavian textile and homewares shop. Skylark Galleries 1, 23 September, Unit 5 Meet artist Kathleen Dutton, who will be available to discuss her work in the gallery throughout the day.

London Design Festival The London Design Festival is one of the world s most important annual design events. The Festival programme is made up of over 400 events and exhibitions. Bankside Design District Bankside is a brand new Design District and the first one south of the river for London Design Festival. Bankside is a creative hub, home to galleries, design studios, architectural practices and creative agencies; many of which are opening up their studios or hosting events to celebrate and showcase the creative industry within the area.
