4 VIRGINIA Dr.Maria Balota Virginia Tech Acreage: Slight decrease 18 K to 15.7 K. Varieties Planted: Champs, 98R, Phillips, Bailey, Sugg, Gregory Percent Irrigated: Around 10% Problems:Germination due to dry hot planting conditions. Current Crop Condition: Good, adequate rain. Harvest:On time 1 st of October Expected Yield: Upper 3,000 lb/ac

5 NORTH CAROLINA Dr. David Jordan North Carolina State Univ. Acreage: Slight 5% decrease.86 K to 82 K. Varieties Planted: Champs, Perry, Phillips, Bailey, others Percent Irrigated or Dryland: 85% Dryland Problems: Dry weather early and prolonged in some areas. Current Crop Condition: Poised to do well if we receive the rainfall from this point forward. Harvest: On time mid-september but depends on weather Expected Yield: 3,300 lb/ac

6 SOUTH CAROLINA Dr. Jay Chapin Clemson Univ. Acreage: Slight increase from 65K to 70K. Varieties Planted: Virginias (75-80%) mainly NC V11 and Champs Runners: GaO6G, FLO7, GaGreener, and GaO7W Percent Irrigated or Dryland: 25% Irrigated Problems: Drought / heat stress Current Crop Condition: Rain started in late July to start pegging and hope the rain continues the rest of August Harvest: On time for early Sept. Maybe a few more ready then due to more early planting. But also more late Oct and Nov where we didn t have pod set until August. Expected Yield: Who knows we still need rain but have time to make a good overall crop.

7 GEORGIA Dr. John Beasley University of Georgia Acreage: 15% reduction 565 K to 480 K. Varieties Planted: 75% GaO6G, the rest in GaGreener, GaO7W, and Tifguard. Percent Irrigated or Dryland: Probably 50% Irrigated due to the fact that the abandon acres will come from the dryland boosting the irrigated. Problems: Drought/Heat. Insects: LCB, cutworms, BAW, and TBW. White mold is exploding. All weeds have been a problem this year due to weather.

8 GEORGIA Dr. John Beasley University of Georgia Current Crop Condition: Crop behind due to early heat no pegs. Harvest: Usually 1 st September, expecting to be about 7-10 days later than normal. Expected Yield: I have no clue. So much could happen between now and then. Need average to above average rainfall during August and September then, normal to above normal temperatures from Oct- mid Nov.

9 FLORIDA Dr. David Wright University of Florida Acreage: Slight increase 145K to 150 K. Varieties Planted: GaO6G, Tifguard, and FLO7. Percent Irrigated or Dryland: 25% Irrigated Problems: Stands and late Planting Current Crop Condition: Probably 2-3 weeks behind normal. Rain has helped a lot in the last 3 weeks. Harvest: 2-3 weeks late. Mid-Sept in Central Florida and 1 st October in Panhandle. Expected Yield: Probably off due to dry weather early and lateness of crop.

11 ALABAMA Kris Balkcom Auburn University Acreage: 10% Reduction 166 K in 2011 from 185 K Varieties Planted: Mainly GaO6G followed by FLO7, Ga7W, GaGreener, and Tifguard. Percent Irrigated or Dryland: 95% Dryland Problems: Early heat and dry weather. Poor stands, late pod set. Current Crop Condition: Scattered rains helping. Some acreage currently being destroyed and some looks to be abandom. Weeds are flourishing with the small canopy size. Expecting Heavy WM pressure on early peanuts. Harvest: Definitely late mid-sept. through November. Expected Yield: Too early to tell. Remember abandon acres will come off average.

12 MISSISSIPPI Mike Howell Mississippi State Acreage: Down 10% to 17 K. Varieties Planted: 85% GaO6G, other GaGreener and FLO7. Percent Irrigated or Dryland: 95% dryland Problems: Drought delayed planting. Current Crop Condition: Very Good adequate to excessive rainfall. Harvest: Mid-Sept. Alittle later than normal. Expected Yield: Still to early but guessing 3,500 lb/ac if weather holds.

13 TEXAS Dr. Todd Baughman Texas A&M Univ. Acreage: K down from 165 K USDA way off. Varieties Planted: Flavor Runner 458 still dominates followed by Tamrun OLO7 for Runners. Gregory, ATO7V, Florida Fancy for Virginia and OLIN and Tamnut OLO6 for Spanish. Percent Irrigated or Dryland: 98% Irrigated Problems: Drought, Heat, Drought, Heat, Drought, Heat one of the driest and hottest seasons on record. Some areas have not received rain for over a year with many areas no rain since October of last year. Irrigation can t keep up the water demands of the plant.

14 TEXAS Dr. Todd Baughman Texas A&M Univ. Current Crop Condition: Most of the crop has not set any pods or has just started. The heat/low humidity has kept most fields from setting any pods. Harvest: Pushed back to October. Definitely late. Expected Yield: Less than 3,000 lb/ac. Need some relief in August, late fall, and no early freeze.

15 Oklahoma Dr. Chad Godsey Oklahoma State University Acreage: Slight Increase from 20 K to 22 K. Varieties Planted: Tamrun OLO7, Red River Runner, GaO9B, Tamnut OLO6, and Jupiter. Percent Irrigated or Dryland: Close to 100% Irrigated Problems: Easily the Heat. July hottest of record. Everyday in July was >100 degrees (around 110). Current Crop Condition: Very few pods set. Crop will be determined in the next two weeks. Expected Yield: 2200 lb/ac if weather is unfavorable and 3300 lb/ac with average weather.
