17 Kitanaka School (A School of Creativity and Urban Culture in Yokohama) Kitanaka School is a joint project of seven universities, coordinated by Yokohama National University. Kanagawa University, Kanto Gakuin University, Kyoto Seika University, Tokai University, Tokyo University of the Arts, Yokohama City University, Yokohama National University (delegate). Funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Kitanaka School teaches on the themes of 'creating an urban culture and urban design' through lectures, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, etc. It is situated on the site of the former Imperial Silk Warehouse Offices (now Kitanaka BRICK) which was built in 1926 in the center of Yokohama.
