Circular Gothenburg acceleration of the circular economy Nina Wolf process- and project leader City of Gothenburg What can the City of Gothenburg do to minimize construction and demolition waste and make room for circular initiatives through the city planning process? How can the City make it easier for citizens and visitors to share, reuse and repair and find sustainable consumption alternatives in Gothenburg? And how can the departments of the City itself act as circular role models? Ms Nina Wolf will share some success stories, experiences, plans and ways of working from the City of Gothenburg. She will give examples of how the City uses a needs- and result driven, holistic and open innovation approach to prevent waste and move towards a sustainable, circular and sharing city. In a co-creation process, together with stakeholders from businesses, universities, the civic society and municipalities, Gothenburg now moves from a linear to a circular city in practice. 2. 9 Villazán (Project manager) City of Valladolid While the conservation and sustainable development community considers Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to be a strong method of addressing climate change and its associated challenges in urban environments, there is still a tendency to implement mainly traditional engineering and architectural solutions. In order to address in depth, the aforementioned needs and demonstrate the potential of the NBS to contribute to the main cities challenges, URBAN GreenUP aims at obtaining a tailored methodology to support the co-development of Renaturing Urban Plans focused on climate change mitigation and adaptation and efficient water management, and to assist in the implementation of NBS in an effective way. Examples of the planned initiatives in Valladolid are the deployment of green bike and pedestrian routes, the installation of green infrastructure, parks and urban farming facilities, the usage of smart soils and bio pollutant filters, as well as the construction of a floodable park and the implementation of sustainable drainage systems, which reduce the impact of floods and for irrigation purposes. 6.
