2 2 MAtchUP MAximizing the UPscaling and replication potential of high level urban transformation strategies Duration: 60 months (November 2017 September 2022) Project Coordinator: Valencia Municipality (Spain) Consortium: 28 partners from 8 countries (Spain, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Finland, Israel, Belgium and Macedonia). MAtchUP is a lighthouse cities project and it addresses the issues that constrains a wider development of the urban transformation of the cities through the use of innovative technologies in energy, mobility and ICT areas and through the direct engagement of citizens. In the MAtchUP project, UBIEFE leads the analysis and identification of innovative business models and financial mechanisms for smart city solutions and is responsible for the economic and financial evaluation of the smart city transition that will take place within the project. This project has received funding from the European Union s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No

3 3 MAtchUP MAtchUP will deploy large scale demonstration projects in three Lighthouse cities namely, Valencia (Spain), Dresden (Germany) and Antalya (Turkey), and support the development of replication and upscaling plans in four Follower cities namely, Ostend (Belgium), Herzliya (Israel), Skopje (Macedonia) and Kerava (Finland). 4 4 URBAN GreenUP New Strategy for Re-Naturing Cities through Nature-Based Solutions Duration: 60 months (June 2017 May 2022) Project Coordinator: Cartif Technology Centre (Spain) Consortium: 25 partners from 8 countries (Spain, Germany, Turkey, Italy, China, Colombia, Vietnam, UK). URBAN GreenUP aims at developing, applying and validating a methodology for Renaturing Urban Plans to mitigate the effects of climate change, improve air quality and water management and increase the sustainability of our cities through innovative nature-based solutions. In URBAN GreenUP project UB-IEFE leads the development of the exploitation and market deployment strategy with a specific focus on NBSs monetary evaluation, financial instrument and business models to foster the implementation of NBSs in European and extra-european countries. 7 7 Urban GreenUP evaluation in cities Ecosystem Services Assessment (ESA) methodology aims to evaluate all ecosystem services provided or improved through NBSs implementation in cities. In order to evaluate NBSs a set of KPIs to assess ecosystem services state before and after the implementation of NBSs will be populated. The set of KPIs has been built starting from the European project EKLIPSE and it has been modified taking into account several international initiatives linked with NBSs and urban sustainability: Sustainable Development Goals (in particular SDG11, SDG13, SDG15) Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystem Services - MAES Urban European Green Capital Award Aichi biodiversity targets 32 KPIs have been individuated to evaluate regulating, provisioning, supporting and cultural ecosystem services provided by NBSs implemented by cities and to compare their performances. Additional specific KPIs will be used by individual cities.

9 9 Restore co-producing REsilience by restoring urban ecosystems using nature-based solutions RESTORE aims to demonstrate in 10 cities, 5 from Europe, 5 from China, how the deployment of urban Nature Based Solutions (NBSs), co-designed and co-produced in collaboration with stakeholders, can contribute to rehabilitate neglected brownfield sites, damaged ecosystems and strengthen urban-socio-economic resilience, delivering a wide range of social-economic-cultural-environmental benefits.

10 10 U_Rings Urban Relations towards circular Innovation Nodes for regenerative city Systems U_RINGS overall objective is to drive a systemic transition from a linear ( take-make-usedispose ) to a circular approach considering the whole city realm (from urban core to rural boundary) and aiming to close resource loops while generating new market opportunities and jobs, reducing resources import, decreasing impacts on environment and climate change.
