BE PART OF TOMORROW. Prior to my first MIPIM, two years ago, I had a preconception of what to expect when I set foot in Cannes. I m pleased to say that this initial preconception was shattered within the first hours of the world s largest property forum; and now two years on that feeling is replaced by ambition and excitement. An ambition of what I want the City Region to achieve through its presence there but more importantly an ambition of what I want the international audience to take away after meeting our delegates. 1. Potential We re a City Region of opportunity. Economically we have the largest City Region economy outside of London & the South East, and we re a core part of the Chancellors plans to rebalance the UK economy through the Northern Powerhouse 2. Passion We re enthusiastic about attracting and driving growth for your businesses and for both the regional and national economy 3. Pace We re a population of can do business people who understand that time is money, and we will work with you in collaboration to make it easier to realise your projects and achieve your business ambitions To deliver this ambition, we re building two MIPIM programmes that will capture the zeitgeists of the moment and capitalise on the strategic plans of the LEP s Trade and Investment team. But we cannot do this alone. I firmly believe that to deliver the economic growth our City Region needs and deserves, it is crucial that we capitalise on our strengths and size, and work together for a common goal. I would welcome your thoughts and ideas for both MIPIM UK and MIPIM 2017 and I hope the emerging plans within these pages will offer confidence that as a City Region we re not looking at how we compete with neighbours in the North or even in the UK but how we compete and represent the location on global scale.
