9 Green Infrastructure move beyond growth vs green For planners, green infrastructure is a great way to move beyond the debate of growth vs green. Spatial planning is on a path dependency that it is not changing (eg how to deal with uncertainty). We need to give greater emphasis to the institutional and governance barriers. (Ahern et al 2014, McPhearson et al 2015) Targets can be piloted to give time to understand the supporting mechanism needed.
