1 CWSEC YEAR 1 ACTIVITY PLAN - UPDATED 1/19/06 General Public SG Create CWSEC logo by blending service provider logos & cooperator logo. Emphasize interconnectedness and equal footing. NA 1-Jun-05 NA NA Create a professional-looking traveling exhibit for festivals and possibly hotels. Will require purchase of display. Laminated posters have been created. Copies are posted in CMWS, USFWS, and local HS. Keep online calendar of events including festivals, meetings, workshops for CWSEC cooperators and service providers. Provide online mechanism for reserving traveling displays. WebCT site for cooperators and providers. CONSIDER DELETING ALL PROVIDERS Create and maintain permanent exhibits: Coastal Grande Mall and Morse Landing Park. Other possible venues include: Inlet Square Mall, Horry County Museum, Children s Museum, Libraries, Convention Center, Visitor s Centers, Huntington, Brookgreen. Continue to seek other venues (what about in city/county buildings?). Consider undergraduate graphic arts students Coastal Grande Mall - Dillards refused to give permission. Morse Landing Park construction has not yet been done so no displays can be installed. Create and maintain CWSEC Web page for the public. Create and maintain Carolina Clear Web page. Link web sites including to all service providers and cooperators. CWSEC web page to provide info clearinghouse for public consumption can including SC DHEC watershed assessments 305(b) reports and 303(d) list. Also include all CWSEC materials, such as brochure. pdfs. Big goal is providing research links for student reports and projects. Obtain domain name for CWSEC.org. Jeff Pollack is serving as webmaster ONGOING ALL PROVIDERS Create and update brochure & PPT presentation (NEMO style) CTP/SG /SG Create and maintain a clearinghouse for examples of locally-implemented stormwater practices. Check with OCRM and local stormwater managers for known implementations. Internal to CWSEC providers and cooperators? Create and maintain a slide clearinghouse of the good and the bad. Archived pix. Historical record. Internal to CWSEC providers and cooperators through online access or CD by request. News clipping archive. Searchable? CWSEC activity record. Record of stormwater issues in the community. Will require significant financial resources. Most likely the responsibility of education coordinator with guidance from SG public relations staff. Develop a set of protocols for routine press releases who s responsible, media contact, when to invite, etc. On website - Jeff Pollack Develop and broadcast radio programming (i.e.,your Day) that addresses regional stormwater issues. SC Sea Grant and Develop and broadcast radio and television Public Service Announcments. Statewide (and coastal) in nature. Flyer distributed 10/21/05; PowerPoint presentation developed 11/05 Joe Fersner was supposed to look for synergy with SC DHEC on this. Accomplished at CWSEC meeting in June 05 Your Day is scheduled to visit the Waccamaw in April 2006 Clemson has produced and coordinated broadcasting of 10 radio Public Service Announcements. The Arbitron numbers are being tabulated for December 05 and January 06 to date. Beach = 21 s TBD

In addition, the Carolina Clear web site is undergoing a significant restructuring and upgrade. s TBD Conduct Carolina Yards and Neighborhoods programs with Master Gardeners and other groups interested in sustainable landscaping practices (n > 2) There is a newly developed horticulture course called Low Impact Gardening. It is being taught as part of the Master Gardener series in Horry and counties. To date, 10 classes have been taught. 10 classes; attendance numbers available shortly /SG Conduct Coast-A-Syst programs (n >2 ) Develop materials for Morse Landing Park MI SAMP SG/ Investigate the installation of rain garden demonstration projects in area schools, commercial facilities, or residential settings / Run local SEPMN program Coast of Horry Co. Dates are being established for two Coast-A-Syst classes in and Horry counties. Perhaps the courses will be taught in conjunction with a Rain Garden demonstration project. Monitoring continues at 5 sites each week.
