1 GOING GREEN BOYLE COUNTY Be informed about Boyle County Recycling Programs read all the way through. OLD BRIDGE SUBDIVISION Curbside Recycling Collection Boyle County Department of Solid Waste Management will pick up your recycling at the curb every other. (See calendar of pick-up dates below) Please put all accepted materials in a can or recycle container (loose no bags, except shredded paper) and place them at the curb by 8am on your pick up day. You must have your own container with lid. Use an old solid waste container or buy one just for your recyclables. Please make sure it has a secure top. 2 Accepted items are: Please read carefully 1. Cardboard packing boxes (breakdown), cardboard tubes, boxes (with grey or brown insides), pizza boxes, cereal boxes, gift boxes, beverage boxes and cardboard tubes (paper towel/toilet, foil, plastic/saran wrap) Please remove metal strip from foil, plastic and saran boxes. 2. White paper, colored paper, envelopes, calendars, brown paper bags, notepads, folders, newspapers, fliers, brochures, cards, phone books, junk mail, holiday wrappings, and shredded paper (bagged in plastic bag). No Carbon Paper. 3. All magazines. 4. All hardcover or paperback books. 5. Steel and Aluminum Food and Beverage Containers. No need to remove labels. No Tin Foil. See Convenience Center Recycling Below for bulky metal and appliances. 6. Plastics: FORGET THE NUMBERS GAME!!! Check out some examples listed below. Breakfast drinks, juice, liquor & mixes, milk, sodas/ale, sports drinks, tea, vegetable juice, shampoo, conditioner, vitamin, prescription, bleach, fabric softener, detergent, stain remover, dish washing, and vinegar. Breakfast drinks, juice, liquor & mixes, milk, sodas/ale, sports drinks, tea, vegetable juice, shampoo, conditioner, vitamin and prescription, bleach, fabric softener, detergent, stain remover, dish washing, and vinegar. Plastics with a neck. No need to remove labels or bottle caps. (REMOVE YOUR NAME)

Glass Food and Beverage Containers: Any glass food or beverage bottles and jars, any color. No need to remove labels. Metal lids can be recycled in the bulky metal box. No Pyrex, ceramic, plate glass, and light bulbs

9 Batteries: We do accept all household batteries, car, all-terrain vehicle, and lawn mower batteries. E-Scrap: The list of accepted e-scrap includes CPUs, servers, CRTand LCD-based computer monitors, computer mice, printers, cables, modems, speakers, scanners, electronic peripherals, networking hardware, power tools (corded or battery powered), VCRs, CD players, DVD players, remote controls, calculators, cell phones, telephones, radios, CB radios, stereos, fax machines, answering machines, Walkman s, ipods, MP3 players, computer game items, audio/visual equipment, cables and wires (assorted and knotted), miscellaneous electronic equipment, non-alkaline batteries (rechargeable or lithium) and battery backups. NO TELEVISIONS

10 Ask our operator for disposal location. Bulky Metal: 30- yard open top dumpster for all sizes, all types. Ferrous and Non-Ferrous. Swing sets, car rims, appliances, hot water heater, aluminum doors, grill ECT. (No propane, gas or other type of hazardous tanks. Large Cardboard: 30- yard open top dumpster. We will accept all large cardboard boxes from appliances, furniture, and anything Cooking Oil: There is a container for used cooking oil (Gose Pike Convenience Center Only). The cooking oil is recycled into a biodiesel blend by Griffin Industries Inc. Do not throw your cooking oil in the trash, down the drain, or on the ground. Ask our operator for location of disposal container. Cooking Oil must be free of petroleum.

12 OTHER DISPOSAL OPTIONS AUTOMOTIVE FLUIDS (Used Oil, Powers Steering Fluid, and Transmission Fluid) 1. Advance Auto Parts: 911 Hustonville Road, Danville; 7 days a week; Auto Zone: 611 South 4 th Street, Danville; 7 days a week; Diesel Tech: 151 South Danville By-pass, Danville; Monday Friday; O Reilly Auto Parts: 1509 Hustonville Road, Danville; 7 days a week; BATTERIES All Boyle County Convenience Centers accept household batteries (A, AA, AAA, C, and D), automobile, tractor, lawnmower, and ATV COOKING OIL No need to worry where you can dispose of your deep fryer cooking oil. All spent or used cooking oil can be taken to the Gose Pike Convenience Center. This oil is collected and recycled into biodiesel fuel by Griffin Industries Inc. This service is free of charge to Boyle County Residents. No petroleum. ELECTRONICS All Boyle County Convenience Center accept electronics for recycling, including all wires and connectors. For a location near you call GUNS AND AMMUNITION For disposal of guns or ammunition call the Boyle County Sheriff s Department at NEEDLES AND SYRINGES For disposal of needles and syringes call the Boyle County Health Department at You pay $5.00 for a sharps container and when filled return to Health Department for disposal. The $5.00 fee covers the container and disposal.

13 PERSCRIPTION DRUGS For prescription drug disposal call the Boyle County Sheriff s Department at PESTICIDES (Farms) The Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Office of Consumer and Environmental Protection, runs FREE pesticide collection and disposal program, the hotline for this FREE program is , 8am 4:30pm Monday-Friday RINSE AND RETURN The Rinse and Return Program for pesticide containers is a voluntary, cooperative program sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the Agri-Business Association of Kentucky (ABAK). Other partners include Farm Bureau, the U.S. Department of Agriculture s Natural Resources Conservation Service and the local conservation districts.
