Opertion stops. 4 Before opertion 4.1 Overview: Before opertion This chpter describes wht you hve to do before operting the unit. Typicl workflow Before opertion usully consist of the following stges: Fixing the user interfce to the wll. Inserting the btteries in the user interfce. Chnging Fhrenheit or Celsius unit setting. Turning on the power supply. 4.3 To insert the btteries The btteries will lst for bout 1 yer. 1 Remove the bck cover. 2 Insert both btteries t once. 3 Replce the bck cover. 1 2 AAA.LR To switch between Fhrenheit nd Celsius Chnge this setting only when the temperture is displyed. 1 Press nd simultneously for bout 5 seconds. The setting chnges. 4.5 To turn on the power supply 1 Turn the circuit breker on. (b) Condenstion might occur on the indoor unit nd drip. Cooling Fn Setting The system cools down room to the temperture setpoint. The system only controls the irflow (irflow rte nd irflow direction). To utomticlly turn ON or OFF the system. 5.3 Opertion mode nd temperture setpoint When. Adjust the system opertion mode, nd set the temperture when you wnt to: Het up or cool down room Blow ir in room without heting or cooling Decrese the humidity in room Wht. The system opertes differently depending on the user selection. Setting Automtic Drying Heting The system cools down or hets up room to the temperture setpoint. It utomticlly switches between cooling nd heting if necessry. The system decreses the humidity in room without chnging the temperture. The system hets up room to the temperture setpoint. Additionl info: Outside temperture. The system's cooling or heting effect decreses when the outside temperture is too high or too low. Defrost opertion. During heting opertion, frost might occur on the outdoor unit nd decrese the heting cpcity. In tht cse, the system utomticlly switches to defrosting opertion to remove the frost. During defrosting opertion, hot ir is NOT blown from the indoor unit To strt/stop opertion nd to set the temperture : Opertion mode = Automtic : Opertion mode = Drying : Opertion mode = Heting : Opertion mode = Cooling : Opertion mode = Fn only : Shows the set temperture. 1 Strt opertion by pressing one of the following buttons. Note: When using Drying opertion or Fn only mode, you CANNOT djust the irflow rte setting. To djust the irflow rte 1 Press to chnge the irflow setting in the following sequence Airflow direction When. Adjust the irflow direction s desired. Wht. The system directs the irflow differently, depending on the user selection (swinging or fixed position). It does so by moving the verticl bldes. Setting Verticl uto swing Airflow direction Moves up nd down. [ ] Stys in fixed position. CAUTION ALWAYS use user interfce to djust the ngles of the flp. When the flp is swinging nd you move it forcibly by hnd, the mechnism will brek. Be creful when djusting the louvers. Inside the ir outlet, fn is rotting t high speed. Note: The movble rnge of the flp vries ccording to the opertion mode. The flp will stop t the upper position when the irflow rte is chnged to low during the up nd down swing setting. Knobs When the unit is instlled in corner of room, the direction of the louvers should be fcing wy from the wll. Efficiency will drop if wll blocks the ir Comfort irflow opertion This opertion cn be used in Heting or Cooling opertion mode. It will provide comfortble wind tht will NOT come in direct contct with people. To strt/stop Comfort irflow opertion Powerful nd Comfort irflow opertion CANNOT be used t the sme time. The lst selected function tkes priority. If the upper or lower direction is selected, Comfort irflow opertion will be cncelled. 1 Press to strt. Mode The flp position will chnge, is displyed on the LCD, nd the irflow rte is set to utomtic. Cooling/Drying Heting Position of flp Up Down Note: Comfort irflow opertion is NOT vilble in Fn only mode. c b 2 Press to stop. The flp will return to the position from before the Comfort irflow mode; disppers from the LCD Powerful opertion This opertion quickly mximizes the cooling/heting effect in ny opertion mode. To djust the louvers (verticl bldes) 1 Hold 1 or both knobs nd move the louvers. To strt/stop Powerful opertion 1 Press to strt. Mode is displyed on the LCD. Powerful opertion runs for 20 minutes; fter tht, opertion returns to the previously set mode. Airflow rte Cooling/Heting/Automtic To mximize the cooling/ heting effect, the cpcity of outdoor unit is incresed. Drying The irflow rte is fixed to the mximum setting. The temperture nd irflow settings CANNOT be chnged. The temperture setting is lowered by 2.5 C. The irflow rte is slightly incresed. 7

Powerful opertion will NOT increse the cpcity of the unit if it lredy opertes t mximum cpcity Econo opertion This is function which enbles efficient opertion by limiting the mximum power consumption vlue. This function is useful for cses in which ttention should be pid to ensure circuit breker will not trip when the product runs longside other pplinces. To strt/stop Econo opertion 1 Press to strt. is displyed on the LCD. Note: Econo opertion is NOT vilble in Fn only mode. 2 Press to stop. A c disppers from the LCD. The memory will be reset when the user interfce btteries re replced. Use of night set mode in combintion with OFF timer The ir conditioner utomticlly djusts the temperture setting (0.5 C up in cooling, 2.0 C down in heting) to prevent excessive cooling/heting nd ensure comfortble sleeping temperture. To combine ON timer nd OFF timer 1 To set the timers, refer to "To strt/stop ON timer opertion" on pge 8 nd "To strt/stop OFF timer opertion" on pge 8. nd re displyed on the LCD. Exmple: 2 If is set when the unit is operting. Opertion stops in 1 hour nd then strts 7 hours lter. 3 If is set when the unit is NOT operting. Opertion strts in 2 hours nd then stops 3 hours lter. When the power turns bck on fter power brek, the previously selected mode will be resumed. CAUTION NEVER expose little children, plnts or nimls directly to the irflow. Do NOT plce objects below the indoor nd/or outdoor unit tht my get wet. In this condition, condenstion on the min unit or refrigernt pipes, ir filter dirt or drin blockge my cuse dripping. This results in fouling or filure of the object which is locted beneth the unit. NOTICE Do NOT use the system for other purposes. In order to void ny qulity deteriortion, do NOT use the unit for cooling precision instruments, food, plnts, nimls, or works of rt. CAUTION Do NOT operte the system when using room fumigtion-type insecticide. Chemicls could collect in the unit, nd endnger the helth of people who re hypersensitive to chemicls. Do NOT plce flmmble spry bottle ner the ir conditioner nd do NOT use sprys. Doing so my result in fire. Observe the following precutions to ensure the system opertes properly. Prevent direct sunlight from entering room during cooling opertion by using curtins or blinds. Ventilte often. Extended use requires specil ttention to ventiltion. Keep doors nd windows closed. If the doors nd windows remin open, ir will flow out of your room cusing decrese in the cooling or heting effect. Be creful NOT to cool or het too much. To sve energy, keep the temperture setting t moderte level. NEVER plce objects ner the ir inlet or the ir outlet of the unit. Doing so my cuse reduced heting/cooling effect or stop opertion. Turn off the min power supply switch to the unit when the unit is NOT used for longer periods of time. If the min power supply switch is on, the unit consumes electricity. Before restrting the unit, turn on the min power supply switch 6 hours before opertion to ensure smooth running. Condenstion my form if the humidity is bove 80% or if the drin outlet gets blocked. Adjust the room temperture properly for comfortble environment. Avoid excessive heting or cooling. Notice tht it my tke some time for the room temperture to rech the set temperture. Consider using the timer setting options. Adjust the ir flow direction to void cool ir from gthering on the floor or wrm ir ginst the ceiling. (Up during cooling or dry opertion to the ceiling nd down during heting opertion.) Avoid direct ir flow to room inhbitnts. Operte the system within the recommended temperture rnge (26~28 C for cooling nd 20~24 C for heting) to sve energy. 7 Mintennce nd service 7.1 Overview: Mintennce nd service The instller hs to perform yerly mintennce. About the refrigernt This product contins fluorinted greenhouse gses. Do NOT vent gses into the tmosphere. Refrigernt type: R32 Globl wrming potentil (GWP) vlue: 675 NOTICE In Europe, the greenhouse gs emissions of the totl refrigernt chrge in the system (expressed s tonnes CO 2 -equivlent) is used to determine the mintennce intervls. Follow the pplicble legisltion. Formul to clculte the greenhouse gs emissions: GWP vlue of the refrigernt Totl refrigernt chrge [in kg] / 1000 Plese contct your instller for more informtion. The refrigernt inside the unit is mildly flmmble, but normlly does NOT lek. If the refrigernt leks in the room nd comes in contct with fire from burner, heter, or cooker, this my result in fire, or the formtion of hrmful gs. Turn off ny combustible heting devices, ventilte the room, nd contct the deler where you purchsed the unit. Do NOT use the unit until service person confirms tht the prt from which the refrigernt leked hs been repired. Do NOT pierce or burn refrigernt cycle prts. Do NOT use clening mterils or mens to ccelerte the defrosting process other thn those recommended by the mnufcturer. Be wre tht the refrigernt inside the system is odourless. The pplince shll be stored in room without continuously operting ignition sources (exmple: open flmes, n operting gs pplince or n operting electric heter). NOTICE Mintennce MUST be done by n uthorized instller or service gent. We recommend performing mintennce t lest once yer. However, pplicble legisltion might require shorter mintennce intervls. DANGER: RISK OF ELECTROCUTION To clen the ir conditioner or ir filter, be sure to stop opertion nd turn ll power supplies off. Otherwise, n electric shock nd injury my result. 9

10 7 Mintennce nd service To prevent electric shocks or fire: Do NOT rinse the unit. Do NOT operte the unit with wet hnds. Do NOT plce ny objects contining wter on the unit. CAUTION After long use, check the unit stnd nd fitting for dmge. If dmged, the unit my fll nd result in injury. These fins re shrp nd could result in cutting injuries. Be crefull with ldders when working in high plces. 7.2 To clen the indoor unit nd user interfce NOTICE Do NOT use gsoline, benzene, thinner polishing powder or liquid insecticide. Possible consequence: Discolortion nd deformtion. Do NOT use wter or ir of 40 C or higher. Possible consequence: Discolortion nd deformtion. Do NOT use polishing compounds. Do NOT use scrubbing brush. Possible consequence: The surfce finishing peels off. DANGER: RISK OF ELECTROCUTION Before clening, be sure to stop the opertion, turn the breker off or pull out the supply cord. Otherwise, n electric shock nd injury my result. 1 Clen with soft cloth. If it is difficult to remove stins, use wter or neutrl detergent. 7.3 To clen the front pnel 2 Push the tb t the centre of ech ir filter, then pull it down. 3 Pull out the ir filters Remove the titnium ptite deodorizing filter from the tbs. 5 Clen or replce ech filter. 6 Wsh the ir filters with wter or clen them with vcuum clener. 1 Clen with soft cloth. If it is difficult to remove stins, use wter or neutrl detergent. 7.4 About the ir filter Operting the unit with dirty filters mens tht the filter: CANNOT deodorize the ir, CANNOT clen the ir, poor heting/cooling, cuses odour. To order titnium ptite deodorizing filters, contct your deler. 7 Sok in lukewrm wter for bout 10 to 15 minutes. 8 Set the ir filters nd the titnium ptite deodorizing filter bck to their originl position. 9 Close the front pnel by pushing the clws of the filter into the slots t 3 loctions (left, right, middle). 10

11 8 Troubleshooting If the dust does NOT come off esily, wsh the ir filters with neutrl detergent diluted in lukewrm wter. Dry the ir filters in the shde. Do NOT wring out the filter when removing wter. 7.7 To replce the titnium ptite deodorizing filter 1 Remove the filter from the tbs nd prepre new filter. Dispose of the old filter s non-flmmble wste. 7.8 To tke following items into ccount before long idle period It is recommended to hve periodicl mintennce performed by specilist. For specilist mintennce, contct your deler. Mintennce costs shll be borne by the customer. In certin operting conditions the inside of the unit my get dirty fter severl sesons of use. This results in poor performnce. 8 Troubleshooting If one of the following mlfunctions occur, tke the mesures shown below nd contct your deler. Stop opertion nd shut off the power if nything unusul occurs (burning smells etc.). Leving the unit running under such circumstnces my cuse brekge, electric shock or fire. Contct your deler. The system MUST be repired by qulified service person: Mlfunction If sfety device such s fuse, breker or n erth lekge breker frequently ctutes or the ON/OFF switch does NOT properly work. If wter leks from the unit. The opertion switch does NOT work well. If the user interfce disply indictes the unit number, the opertion lmp flshes nd the mlfunction code ppers. Mesure Turn OFF the min power switch. Stop the opertion. Turn OFF the power supply. Notify your instller nd report the mlfunction code. If the system does NOT properly operte except for the bove mentioned cses nd none of the bove mentioned mlfunctions is evident, investigte the system ccording to the following procedures. Mlfunction If the system does NOT operte t ll. The system suddenly stops operting. Mesure Check if there is no power filure. Wit until power is restored. If power filure occurs during opertion, the system utomticlly restrts immeditely fter power is restored. Check if no fuse hs blown or breker is ctivted. Chnge the fuse or reset the breker if necessry. Check the btteries of the user interfce. Check if the ir inlet or outlet of the outdoor or indoor unit is NOT blocked by obstcles. Remove ny obstcles nd mke sure the ir cn flow freely. The ir conditioner my stop operting fter sudden lrge voltge fluctutions to protect the system. It utomticlly resumes opertion fter bout 3 minutes. 1 Set the mode to fn only by pressing button to dry the inside of the unit. 2 After opertion stops, turn the breker off. 3 Clen the ir filters nd replce them in their originl position. 4 Remove the btteries from the user interfce. 11

Refer to "5.3.3 Airflow direction" on pge 7. Check if the ir inlet or outlet of outdoor or indoor unit is NOT blocked by obstcles. Remove ny obstcles nd mke sure the ir cn flow freely. The ir conditioner my be wrming up for het opertion. Wit for bout 1 to 4 minutes. The unit my be in defrost opertion. Check if the ir filters re clogged. Clen the ir filters. See "7 Mintennce nd service" on pge 9. Check for open doors or windows. Close doors nd windows to prevent wind from coming in. Check if the unit opertes in Econo opertion. Refer to "5.3.6 Econo opertion" on pge 8. Check if there is ny furniture directly under or next to the indoor unit. Move the furniture. The ir conditioner my mlfunction becuse of lightning or rdio wves. Turn the breker OFF nd bck ON. Check the btteries of the user interfce. Check if the trnsmitter is NOT exposed to direct sunlight. Check if there re ny electronic strter type fluorescent lmps in the room. Contct your deler. Replce the btteries of the user interfce. Consult your locl deler. Refer to "8.2 Solving problems bsed on error codes" on pge 12 for detiled list of error codes. If the user interfce signls operte other electric pplinces, move the other pplinces wy, nd contct your deler. If fter checking ll bove items, it is impossible to fix the problem yourself, contct your instller nd stte the symptoms, the complete model nme of the unit (with mnufcturing number if possible) nd the instlltion dte (possibly listed on the wrrnty crd). 8.1 Symptoms tht re NOT system mlfunctions The following symptoms re NOT system mlfunctions: Symptom: A sound like wter flowing is herd This sound is cused by the refrigernt flowing in the unit. This sound my be generted when wter is flowing wy from the unit during cooling or drying opertion Symptom: A blowing sound is herd This sound is generted when the direction of the refrigernt flow is chnged (e.g. when switching from cooling to heting) Symptom: A ticking sound is herd This sound is generted when the unit slightly expnds or contrcts with chnges in temperture Symptom: A whistling sound is herd This sound is generted by the refrigernt flowing during defrost opertion Symptom: A clicking sound during opertion or idle time is herd This sound is generted when the refrigernt control vlves or electricl prts operte Symptom: A clpping sound is herd This sound is generted when n externl device sucks ir out of the room (e.g. exhust fn, extrctor hood) while the doors nd windows in the room re closed. Open the doors or windows, or turn off the device Symptom: The units cn give off odours The unit cn bsorb the smell of rooms, furniture, cigrettes, etc., nd then emit it gin Symptom: The outdoor fn rottes while the ir conditioner is not in opertion After opertion hs stopped. The outdoor fn continues to rotte for nother 30 seconds for system protection. While the ir conditioner is not in opertion. When the outdoor temperture is very high, the outdoor fn strts to rotte for system protection. 8.2 Solving problems bsed on error codes When problem hppens, n error code ppers on the user interfce. It is importnt to understnd the problem nd to tke mesures before resetting the error code. This should be done by licensed instller or by your locl deler. This chpter gives you n overview of ll error codes nd the content of the error code s it ppers on the user interfce. For more detiled troubleshooting guideline for ech error, plese see the service mnul. Fult dignosis by user interfce The user interfce cn receive n error code from the indoor unit referring to the fult. It is importnt to understnd the problem nd tke mesures before resetting the error code. This should be done by licensed instller or your locl deler. To see the error code on the user interfce: 1 Hold for bout 5 seconds. blinks in the temperture disply section. 2 Press repetedly until continuous beep is herd. The code is now displyed on the disply. 12
