Sturdiness Alveus sinks rank among the most durable sinks in the market since they are manufactured from 18/10 stainless steel up to 1 mm in thickness. The main advantage of thicker steel are greater impact resistance, increased stability of a sink tap and significantly reduced level of water splashing noise. In weight comparison, sinks made of thicker stainless steel are heavier. Granite composite sinks are composed of granite parts tightly bound with high quality acrylic resin, which helps to acquire excellent mechanical properties and chemical persistence. 12 Selection Guide When buying a kitchen sink it is recommendable to, consider the following: Cabinet width first of all, you must know the size/width of the sink cabinet, which has influence on your choice. Our sinks are classified according to the minimum required cabinet width, namely, 450, 500,, 800, 900 and 1000 mm plus 900x900 mm corner cabinet. Smaller kitchen sinks can be accomodated by larger cabinets, but never vice versa. For instance, a sink dimensioned to fit a cabinet of mm minimum width can also be installed into any cabinet exceeding the designated size. Sink orientation once you have determined the cabinet width, you have to determine orientation of the sink on the kitchen worktop. You can choose among left-hand, right-hand and reversible sink designs. Most of sinks are reversible, you need not to worry about the orientation upon your purchase, as you can turn the sink with its main bowl(s) according to your needs. In the next step, you can choose among various materials (stainless steel or composite material), various installation types (inset, flush mount, flat mount, undermount or sit-on) and, various sink designs. Configurations Alveus kitchen sinks come in various orientations to adjust perfectly to your kitchen requirements. 13 Installation Types Alveus sinks are suitable for various installation types, thus adjusting completely to design and architectural requirements of your kitchen. Inset sinks are installed into kitchen worktop, thus forming part of continuous working surface. Sink is inserted from above into a suitable worktop cut-out and fastened with supplied clamps. Flush mount sinks are installed into previously adjusted kitchen worktop made of waterproof material (natural stone, composite material, glass, impregnated solid wood). Surface of the sink and surface of the worktop are in the same level. The main advantage is seamless working surface that enables very easy cleaning and an attractive appearance. Flat mount sink are installed into kitchen worktop so that a uniform working surface is created. Thin, almost unnoticeable rims allow quick and easy cleaning. An additional advantage is simple installation from above into each type of kitchen worktop. Undermount sinks are installed into kitchen worktop from below. Worktop must be made of waterproof material, such as natural stone and composite material. This type of installation enables various combinations of undermount bowls in different sizes. Absence of seams between sink and worktop contributes to simple hygiene maintenance and overall appeal of a kitchen. Sit-on sinks assume the function of kitchen worktop by replacing it on top of a kitchen cabinet. They either sit at the end of a worktop or connect two worktop ends (one on each side). Alveus Sit-on Sinks normally have a rear wall rim of 30 mm, however there are a few versions without it (please see individual sinks description). The sinks can be installed in combination with standard worktops of 30 mm thickness. They are fastened by means of integrated frame (type L), with supplied plastic clips (type K) or by using factory-made screw holes (type B). L K B 11

14 Fully Equipped Accessories With suitable accessories, such as strainer bowls, chopping boards, detergent dispenser, trays and covers Alveus sinks turn practically into complete small kitchens, furnished for the most delicious activities. The majority of sinks have the most important and most interesting accessories included in the basic package, which is clearly marked in this catalogue. The rest of the accessories are available to order. Waste Kits and Pop-Up System Most sinks come with suitable waste system traps in order to facilitate the installation process. Certain sinks are supplied with system, which allow remote operation of the drain stopper. This is very practical for the moments when we wish to close an waste or empty the water out of a full sink without getting our hands wet. Seals Most of the sinks are fitted with top-quality Alvoflex seals already attached to the undersides of their outer rims. This is permanent fixation that enables faster and easier installation, and prevents water leakage under the sink rim to kitchen worktop and cabinet. Sound-Deadening Undercoating As a contrast to some competing products, all Alveus stainless sinks are serially fitted with special sound-deadening undercoating. This undercoating mitigates the noise from water splashing upon hitting the sink surface, and thus successfully increases the comfort of working and living. 12

15 Mounting Accessories The type of fastening accessories depends on installation type of sinks and kitchen worktop material. There are suitable accessories available for each type of sink installation - I (inset), F (flush), S (flat) or U (undermount). For I, F and S installation method, there are optimum number of fastening clips enclosed with each sink, suitable for mounting into worktops of 30 to 40 mm thickness. Undermount Sink Fittings The undermount sinks can be supplied with special fastening accessories, designed to suit installation method as well as type of worktop material. Factory-Made Cut-Outs Assembly of additional elements Alveus is very simple, as the orifices for kitchen fittings and eventual other equipment ( waste or detergent dispenser) are mostly prepared already in production. Thus, there is no need to bother with the risky business of cutting out the precisely located holes yourself. Overflow Alveus sinks are designed in a way that the excess water does not remain on the level surfaces, but is drained either through the central drain or overflow. The overflow is an opening on the bowl wall or drainer surface, which prevents water from spilling over the sink in case the waste drain is blocked. The overflow is thus a kind of a safety device in your kitchen. 13

16 Top-Quality Materials Alveus kitchen sinks are available in several materials, surface finishes and colours. Apart from the stainless steel sinks in three finishes (SAT- Satin, LEI - Leinen and MLEI - Microleinen), our offer includes selected models from high-quality composite material Algranit. In the wide range of Algranit colours, you will certainly find the one that will blend into your kitchen or create with the kitchen a beautiful contrast. Premium Stainless Steel The main characteristics and advantages of 18/10 stainless steel are: Easy cleaning which ensures a high level of hygiene Resistance to high temperatures and rapid temperature changes (thermal shock) Resistance to impacts Resistance to chemical influences 100 % recyclability The stainless steel (CrNi) thickness ranges from 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm depending on the price range of the sink. Surface finishes The difference between the finishes is mainly reflected in the appearance and partly in the scratch resistance. While the SAT finish produces a polished, easy-to-clean stainless steel surface the LEI and MLEI finishes produce a matte texture, which is less sensitive to tiny scratches, but requires a bit more care. The technical characteristics of the basic material are the same in all varieties; however, certain sinks are not always available in all three finishes. SAT (Satin) LEI (Leinen) MLEI (Microleinen) Special surface treatment of stainless steel A thin vaporised metal substance known as ceramic nitride is deposited onto stainless steel surface, resulting in unique metal lustre and increased scratch resistance. The surface-treated stainless steel is available in three precious metal colour shades - GOLD, COPPER, ANTHRACITE and BRONZE. Due to the nature of surface treatment process, each sink ends up with unique colour shade. COPPER GOLD ANTHRACITE BRONZE Tempered Glass Tempered glass is a safety glass with emphasis on toughness and thermal resistance. There are five available colours - black, white, red, violet and yellow, which will bring uncompromising elegance and style into every kitchen. Colour range white black red violet yellow 14

17 Algranit composite material Kitchen sinks from composite material ALGRANIT contain of granite particles bound together by high-quality polymer resin to achieve excellent sturdiness and resistance to high temperatures. The sinks boast excellent resistance to scratches and impacts, while their smooth surface ensures easy cleaning; dirt, stains, scale and even accidentally spilt chemicals can be removed effortlessly. Colour range The Algranit material is available in a wide range of colours, some of which are added a metallic lustre. Granital composite material is a mixture of 75-80% granite particles bound together by high-quality binder, which provides strength and flexibility to a kitchen sink as well as the resistance to temperature shocks. Careful surface treatment makes kitchen sink smooth and pleasant to the touch. The smoothness of the surface provides an easy cleaning of the kitchen sink. Increased material sturdiness and cleaning in accordance with the instructions guarantee a long service life to these sinks. 18 Care and Maintenance The products united under the Alveus brand are first-rate products in terms of quality, manufacture, materials and design. Since the sinks are made of various materials with specific characteristics, care and maintenance must be adjusted accordingly. Every sink is supplied with care and maintenance instructions. Following the recommendations stated, you will ensure a long service life to your Alveus kitchen products. Stainless steel sinks and hob units Soft cloths and liquid household cleaners should be used for cleaning. We recommend Alveus cleaning and care agents. Avoid silver cleaner, steel wool pads, bleach or abrasive detergents. Do not deposit unprotected metal objects onto the stainless steel parts. Should stainless steel come into contact with strong acids, flush it immediately with a large amount of water. To avoid staining, do not leave food or corrosive substances (e.g. fruit juice, kitchen salt, vinegar, mustard, mayonnaise etc.) on stainless steel surfaces for longer period of time. We recommend that stainless steel products be wiped with a dry soft cloth after use to prevent scale formation. Composite sinks Most stains and dirt can be removed with mild liquid nonabrasive household cleaners or ammoniac-based detergents. More difficult stains can be removed with a fine polishing agent; the remains of limestone can be removed with 9% acetic acid (vinegar). We recommend Alveus cleaning and care agents. Chlorine detergents (soda hypochlorite) or hydrochloric acids as well as exposure to strong chemicals (varnish removers, oven cleaners, concentrated acids, lye and similar) can damage the sink finish. Should the contact occur, rinse quickly the surface with water. We recommend the use of appropriate chopping boards. 16

19 Kitchen taps For cleaning of Alveus kitchen fittings it is best to use a soft cloth, hot water and liquid detergent for kitchen sinks. Should scale build up on the tap, remove it with 9 % acetic acid. Silver cleaners, steel wool pads, bleach or abrasive detergents can damage the tap finish, so they should be avoided. Chlorine detergents (soda hypochlorite) or hydrochloric acid can have a similar effect. Waste segregation bin systems Waste segregation systems are designed to allow for the most convenient removal of kitchen waste from the work surfaces. Apart from mixed binning, the systems enable separate binning of different kinds of biological and non-biological waste. Due to various container sizes and large total capacity, they fit any home. 17

216 KITCHEN ACCESSORIES Alveus dispensers of liquid detergents enable simply assembly in the kitchen. They are suitable for installation on the sinks and in all kinds of kitchen worktops of thickness up to 45 mm. The use of dispenser is very simple, for by pressing its upper part by one hand a required quantity of liquid detergent or liquid soap can be hygienically and optimally applied to a washing sponge. Pull out of the upper part enables easy refill of dispenser from above. Maximum content of each dispenser is 500 ml. The amount can be quickly checked due to transparent material of the dispenser container. Alveus cutlery trays fit 500 mm long kitchen drawers in kitchen cabinets of standard sizes, 450, and 900 mm. The trays are easy to cut in order to fit perfectly the drawer. They are made of polypropylene, an environment friendly polymer material that fulfils also hygienic requirements for coming into contact with foodstuff.
