2 MISSION STATEMENT The men and women of the Jefferson County Public Schools Security and Investigations Unit are committed to promoting student achievement by: Promoting a safe educational environment for all, free from the fear of crime and victimization. Identifying and solving problems through forming partnerships. Assisting district and school administrators in an effort to minimize disruption to the educational process caused by exposure to loss. Providing professional security services for the Jefferson County Public Schools family and community using dynamic and proactive techniques. Using in-house personnel and equipment where practical and with the assistance of other agencies as necessary.

16 1. Location or installation of video cameras approved by Security 2. Labelling of video cameras for buildings standardized 3. All surveillance cameras managed and controlled by security and not part of school record keeping 4. Minimum required safety/security training for all employees and annual training for administrators 5. All installation of security related products must be done by District approved vendor (cameras, alarms, access control, locks, ) STANDARDIZATION 6. All security personnel must have a minimum number of training hours per year 7. All Security personnel must be certified in SCM up to the theory level 8. Standard Safety/Security team conducts unannounced inspections of schools and buildings, preferably part of a larger Operations Team 9. All JCPS employees obtain the JCPS photo ID.
