17 Narratives Subject: Theft Type Date Time Author Approving Officer Initial Report 12/15/ HENDERSON, CHAD D PAPINEAU, DENNIS J Involved - David B. BUTE Vehicle Ford VN; Ohio License - PIX6367 (Towed by Lorain PD) I was advised of a breaking and entering complaint at 4001 Bardshar Rd (Corso's Flower). I made contact with the complaint, David Bute. Bute advised sometime during the nighttime hours an unknown person(s) entered the garage and took a large amount of hand tools, power tools and several other items. Bute stated a vehicle that was parked outside of the facility was also missing. Inside the vehicle were three (3) spools of copper piping. Bute stated he was the last employee to leave the facility the previous evening at approximately 1700 hrs. Bute stated the keys to the vehicle were inside the garage on the work bench. Bute stated the garage was locked when he left. I was not able to locate any pry marks on the door frame to indicate how it was opened. Bute stated he believed due to the type of lock that it would be fairly easy to open the door even if it was locked. Bute made contact with Chad Corso who is the owner of the business and advised him of the situation. Photos were taken of the garage which will be forwarded to the detective bureau for processing. Bute stated he will provide our office with an itemized list of all of the property taken, along with serial numbers and property value. Nothing of evidentiary value was located at the facility. Bute advised they do have security cameras on the property and would contact our office if anything was located on the cameras. I was not able to obtain any information regarding the vehicle, due to it being registered to the business of Corso's. Later I was provided with the vehicle identification number (VIN) from Corso. The vehicle was entered into LEADS as a stolen vehicle. At approximately 1115 hrs. I was contacted by dispatch who advised Lorain PD had located the listed vehicle. I made contact with Ofc. Bob Hargreaves from Lorain PD. Ofc. Hargreaves advised his office was contacted by a male subject who was purchasing items from a tackle bait shop. Ofc. Hargreaves stated the male observed what he believed to be a vehicle in the water. After the male confirmed it was in fact a vehicle he made contact with Lorain PD. The vehicle was recovered from the water and towed by Ernie's Towing in Lorain. Ofc. Hargreaves provided me with photos from the recovery which will be forwarded to the detective bureau. I then made contact with Bute, and advised him of the situation. Bute was provided with the information for Ernie's Towing. Bute stated he would make contact with Corso, and have the insurance company notified. This matter is under further investigation.
