Sekretessklass Anläggning/Ort Intern Personal protective equipment Purpose At E.ON Värme, accidents happen where the consequences for those involved become unnecessarily extensive, for example as a result of the injured person wearing the incorrect personal protective equipment or no protective equipment at all. More often than not, these are burn injuries. The aim is for these routines to eliminate/limit the consequences of such accidents. Scope The routines state the basic requirements and guidelines for the use of personal protection equipment for work within E.ON Värme Sverige AB. The routines apply to both employees and contractors. These are the minimum personal protection equipment requirement levels applicable at E.ON Värme Sverige AB. There are occasions when these levels are insufficient. In these cases, specific risk assessments shall be conducted, preferably with support from HSSE. Decisions regarding supplementary safety equipment are made by the unit manager. For cases where access to the personnel rooms or similar presupposes passage through the plant, zones exempt from these requirements can be established after risk assessment. Long sleeved sweaters/jackets and full-length trousers are a basic requirement (see note 1). Hearing protection, safety glasses (minimum class EN 166F) and gloves shall always be carried, to be used when needed or, in accordance with the following rules. Please note that there are also certain areas which require respiratory protection. Responsibility E.ON Värme has the resonsibility for this routine. What protecive equipment must be used? For the following activities, there are specific basic requirements for protective equipment. For other work, the type of equipment/clothing that must be used is decided via a documented risk assessment. Requirements for production plants Practical work in production plants, e.g., patrols, maintenance measures and visits from managers or other personnel linked to the operations Hard hat (min. req. as per EN 397) Hard hat (min. req. as per EN 397) Utskrift giltig endast vid utskriftsdagen

N.B.: For welding, exceptions may be made regarding high visibility clothing requirements once a risk assessment has been conducted. This presupposes that work on or in connection to roads/traffic is being conducted in a cordoned off area and, where appropriate, barriers are in place. High visibility clothing must be worn for entry and exit to/from the worksite. Requirements for customer plants Practical work in distribution plants, e.g., service work, maintenance measures and visits from managers or other personnel linked to the operations Hard hat (min. req. as per EN 397). See note 4. Hard hat (min. req. as per EN 397). See note 4. Note 2: Work carrying specific risks refers to, for example, work on electrical facilities, hot works, working at height, lifting and the making of holes (in accordance with the Group's general procurement requirements for contracts) Note 3: Class 3 means that high visibility material shall exceed certain surfaces, which is not possible in smaller sizes. Here, the highest possible visibility class is chosen. Approved colours are fluorescent yellow and/or orange Note 4: Exceptions for certain duties may be made after documented risk assessment and decision by unit manager. Note 5: Risk assessment m a p short-circuit effect shall be noted. Class 1 is equal to 4kA, 400V and 500 ms. Class 2 is equal to 7kA, 400V and 500 ms Note 6: For delivery/unloading of materials, the driver/guide must at least be wearing a helmet, high visibility vest EN 471 class 2 (3 for Dist.), safety boots and work trousers when he/she is outside of his/her machine/vehicle and inside the workplace. Exceptions regarding safety boots can be made after a risk assessment by E.ON
4 Sida 4/5 What protecive equipment must Advice Flame retardant clothing It is very important to be clothed entirely in flame retardant clothing. Even if the external clothing can withstand the heat, this may not be the case for underwear, which can then result in burn injuries. Artificial fibres melt to the skin and result in very severe burn injuries. See further information about flame retardant materials in PM no. 2/04 from the Swedish Chemicals Agency. Washing advice It is very important that the clothes are washed regularly. Neither the flame retardant nor the fluorescent material work as they should when clothing is dirty. Even if the fabric is flame retardant, the dirt itself may still catch fire and dirty reflectors and fabrics cannot be seen as easily. It is also important to follow the washing instructions to ensure that the flame retardant or reflectors are not damaged. A completely synthetic detergent must be used and fabric softener may not be added. This is to maintain the flame retardants in the clothing Waste management After working with waste management, the outer shell of the clothes must be washed at a minimum of 60ºC. It is important that the machine maintains a temperature of 60ºC for at least ten minutes. Work clothes must be changed once a work shift is finished and before meals, entry to break rooms, offices etc. It is also important to wash yourself thoroughly before changing clothes. Relevant requirement standards EN ISO Protective clothing to protect against heat and flame (for environments where there is the risk of sudden contact with a small flame). Also provides different degrees of protection against heat penetration and thermal radiation. EN ISO EN 471 EN EN Protective clothing for use in welding and similar processes. Protective clothing to increase visibility standard. High visibility clothing have florescent surfaces and reflectors that meet the certification requirements of designs for three different classes. It is predominantly the size of the surface area of the florescent and reflective materials that distinguish the classes from each other. Class 3 means the highest safety level. Protective clothing that protects against electrostatic charge, appropriate for environments where there is a risk of explosion. Protective clothing that provides protection for thermal hazards caused by an arc flash.
