7 GE HEALTHCARE IMAGING SUBSYSTEMS Category: A4 MILWAUKEE GE Healthcare Imaging Subsystems designs and manufactures x-ray and computed tomography (CT) tubes and piece parts, detector and piece parts, high voltage tanks, and generators for x-ray generation and detection. ese components are used in the highly regulated medical device industry, in equipment that uses x-ray to perform diagnostic imaging tests. 19 2010 CorPorATe safety AWArd nominees The Wisconsin Safety Council and Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development are pleased to celebrate the 151 nominees for the 17th Annual Wisconsin Corporate Safety Award competition. Fifteen of these leading Wisconsin companies are being honored for this year s Wisconsin Corporate Safety Awards. Awards will be given in 13 categories based on the size of business (number of employees) and type of business, as defined by NAICS code. 20 lifetime ACHieveMenT AWArd TOM ORDENS Retired, National Accounts Loss Control Consultant Sentry Insurance Tom Ordens has served well the needs of the Wisconsin Safety Council since first joining its ranks on the Occupational Safety Committee in He has been chairman of many WSC committees, and held every leadership position within the WSC board of advisors, retiring from the WSC Board in December He holds a bachelor s degree in Industrial Education from UW-Stout, and a master s degree in Curriculum Instruction from UW-Milwaukee. Although he is officially retired from his leadership positions on the WSC advisory board, Tom can often be found traveling Wisconsin s countryside on his way to a WSC meeting or event. 21 safety HAll of fame inductee JIM LEEF President ITU, Inc. Jim Leef is the eldest of the third generation of the Leef family to serve as president of Industrial Towel and Uniform of New Berlin, Wisconsin, following his grandfather, George Herman Leef, and father George Lucas Leef. Jim began working on delivery routes while in college in 1974 and went to work at ITU full time in 1978 after graduating from the University of Arizona with a degree in Finance. His first assignment was in route and sales management for ITU in the Chicago area, until 1986 when he became the company s General Manager and moved back to the Milwaukee area. Jim became president of ITU upon his father s retirement in From the start of the business in the Milwaukee area in 1930, the company has grown to include processing operations in Neenah, WI, South Bend, IN, Titusville, PA, and Piedmont, SC. The route service network covers the eastern half of the United States, employing about 400 people.
