2 GRINNELL Rapid Installation Pivot-Bolt GRIP Figure 740 Coupling A MORE EFFICIENT COUPLING TECHNOLOGY The new GRINNELL Rapid Installation Pivot-bolt (GRIP) Coupling joins pipe ten times faster than traditional methods and two times faster than standard grooved couplings without losing the ability to properly inspect the gasket seal. No other quick installation coupling offers both of these benefits. The GRIP Coupling is a more efficient, reliable way to join pipe. There are no loose components and only one bolt to tighten, therefore installation is quick and easy. The coupling s patented EHT-style gasket offers simple push-on installation while simultaneously allowing the installer to visually inspect the gasket seal. Correct gasket placement is crucial to the performance of a coupling. If the gasket is seated incorrectly, the potential leak risk is significantly higher. Built to perform in extreme conditions, the GRIP Coupling is designed to withstand pressures up to 750psi (51,7 bar) and temperatures up to 250 F (121 C). The EHTstyle gasket can handle temperatures up to 250 F (121 C). The GRIP Coupling can be installed in a variety of applications, including HVAC, utility piping and process piping. Bolts/Nuts Bolts and nuts are zinc-electroplated conforming to ASTM B 633 Carbon Steel oval neck track head bolts are heat-treated and conform to the physical properties of ASTM A 183 Grade 2 and SAE J429 Grade 5 with a minimum tensile strength of 110,000 psi. Carbon Steel heavy hex nuts conform to the physical properties of ASTM A 183 Grade 2 and SAE J995 Grade 5. Carbon Steel pivot bolts are heattreated with a minimum tensile strength of 130,000 psi. Maximum Temperature Rating 250 F / 121 C Maximum Pressure 750 psi / 51,7 bar Here s How It Works LUBE gasket. Apply a thin layer of lubricant on the inner and outer sealing surfaces of the gasket. PUSH gasket onto the pipe until the center leg of the gasket is in contact with the end of the pipe. Push the second pipe end into the gasket, ensuring it has made contact with the center leg. Easy visual inspection ensures that the gasket is properly positioned. SWING coupling housing over the pipe. There are no nuts or bolts to remove or untighten. The pivotbolt quickly and easily guides the coupling body into the pipe. TIGHTEN one nut with an impact or hand wrench. There is no need to alternate tightening the pivotbolt comes calibrated and does not need adjusting.
