2 ISIMET, LLC ISIMET is committed to providing quality safety products for use in the laboratory classrooms of our Nation s Public Schools. Placing special emphasis on Student and Instructor safety is the focal point from which began the development of our Utility Controller. Looking at the enhancement of present engineering designs, we first focused our efforts on a control system that integrated the control of the mechanical and electrical components within a single device. To provide additional safety features, we next incorporated the means to remotely control and monitor our new device. To finalize, we added our enabling key thus giving sole authority to the instructor to enable and disable these integrated systems. Our innovative Utility Controller provides not only a safe learning environment for the Student but likewise a safe work place for the Instructor. We at ISIMET feel that our concepts for Public School laboratory safety control devices will become more than that of an optional convenient control apparatus, but rather a standard whereby future classroom designs are based. We hope that by reviewing our Product Catalog you will agree. Commitment to our Customers: As a customer of ISIMET, we will continually keep you updated of all upgrades and advancements of the Utility Controller, and we will also offer reasonably priced upgrades. It is our intent to keep you up-to-date with all safety enhancements of the Utility Controller.

3 Theory of Operation of the Laboratory Utility Controller The primary objective of our control system is to promote safety for the student as well as the instructor in the science laboratory learning environment. In order to achieve this goal, it is our belief that the instructor should be granted sole, local authority to determine those utilities that should be available to the student during the course of the classroom day. Dividing focus between, not only response to the potential emergency, but likewise the prevention, our theory of operation states that the utility outlets readily available to the student should remain inactive or OFF unless specific need for use is determined and thus granted by the instructor. ISIMET defines four distinct operating hierarchies or states: 1. Enabled or Operational 2. Disabled or Non-Operational 3. Panic 4. Alarm ISIMET believes that sole and local authority means that the primary operator or the instructors should have the sole authority to start and stop the utility services within the immediate area of use during normal usage. This should distinguish this type of operating environment from that where a single emergency shut-down device is located remotely from the areas of use. As an example, the ISIMET system is not specifically intended for use in applications where a master shut-down and re-instate device is located away from areas of normal use. ISIMET s opinion is that in such cases there is risk that the operator of the system during re-start may inadvertently activate utilities in an unoccupied area that is remote from the present occupancy, thus creating the risk of fire where the utility is fuel gas. Additionally, the operation of emergency devices including emergency showers and eyewashes should not be integrated with this system for either activation or deactivation.

4 ISIMET Utility Controllers and Companion Enclosures Two Hour Fire Rating All ISIMET Utility Controllers, Enclosures and Accessories can be certified for two-hour fire rating. Working closely with the industry leader in fire rated materials, ISIMET can offer our enclosures with a one-half inch fire rated blanket. This blanket that is adhered to the outer surface of the enclosure will enable the installer to incorporate the ISIMET product into a fire rated wall without the need for additional blanket or other rated material. In order to specify a unit as Fire Rated use the following nomenclature. Add to the ISIMET Part Number: Prefix F2 for all Utility Controllers, Companion Enclosures and Accessories UtC-F2-12X9 indicates a four-circuit Utility Controller with fire blanket. LA-F indicates a wall mounted LA Series with fire blanket. E-F indicates a twelve-circuit E-Series with fire blanket. S-F /4-K indicates a three-station S-Series with fire blanket. MLA-F2-1-B indicates a Monitoring Beacon with fire blanket. All components utilized in this Fire Rating will be provided with additional instructions for installation in order to insure that the rated material and process is not violated or damaged during installation. Fire caulking as well foil tape and extra blanket material is included with all units except for accessories. Fire caulking for accessories should be field provided.

5 Review of NFPA Codes and Standards as they apply to Science Laboratories NFPA 101 Life Safety Code Every building or structure shall be provided with means of egress and other safeguards of kinds, numbers, locations, and capacities appropriate to the individual building or structure, with due regard to the following (1) Character of the occupancy (2) Capabilities of the occupants By our interpretation, this means that a SCHOOL where Laboratories utilize Natural Gas readily accessible to STUDENTS having little or no experience with open flames should be afforded the utmost in safety when designed. If it is to be assumed that according to Chapter 4.5 that additional emphasis should be afforded safety in the science classroom, then implication that the function of an independent safety control switch or system within such classrooms should be considered as a part of a complete fire alarm system thus requiring full compliance with Chapter Emergency Control A fire alarm and control system, where required by another section of this Code, shall be arranged to actuate automatically the control functions necessary to make the protected premises safer for building occupants Installation of emergency control devices shall be in accordance with NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm Code. The performance of emergency control functions shall not impair the effective response of all required alarm notification functions. NFPA 45 Standards on Fire Protection for Laboratories Using Chemicals 2004 Edition Emergency Plans Plans for laboratory emergencies shall be developed, which shall include the following: (1) Alarm activation (2) Evacuation and building re-entry procedures (3) Equipment shutdown procedures or applicable emergency operation (4) Fire-fighting operations (5) Non-fire hazards (6) Information as required by the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) to allow the emergency responders to develop response tactics 11.2 Storage and Piping Systems An emergency gas shut-off device in an accessible location at the exit shall be provided in addition to the manual point-of-use valve in each educational and instructional laboratory space that has a piped gas dispensing valve. Interpretation of the Codes The use of the term emergency gas shut-off device in NFPA 45 in lieu of the wording gas shut-off valve suggests that the authors of the code intended that the means to control the fuel gas piping in emergency instances should require more than a manual shut-off valve. Use of the verbiage at the exit further strengthens this argument due to the common design feature of a laboratory whereby more than one means of egress is provided. Practical application prohibits a series of manual valves from performing a common shut-off function of a distribution system. Further, emergency shut-off device suggests a means of control or Emergency Control in the event of an emergency. Giving merit to this argument along with extended reliance upon NFPA 101, one can speculate that Emergency Control should have enforcement over this specific code requirement under NFPA 45. Thus, these control devices should be governed by NFPA 72 as stated in of Life Safety Code.

6 NSTA Guide to School Science Facilities Utilities Emergency shut-off controls for water, electrical service, and gas should be near the teacher s station, not far from the door, and not easily accessible to students. Page 63, NSTA Guide to School Science Facilities Gas The control valve for shutting off the gas in the laboratory when the teacher is not present or when lessons do not require gas should be accessible only to the teacher. The room should have an emergency shut-off valve activated by pushing a highly visible button, with a keyed reset mechanism to turn the gas supply back on when the emergency is over. All emergency controls should be readily accessible by the teacher, but not too easily reached by students. Page 22-23, NSTA Guide to School Science Facilities Electricity Emergency shut-off controls for electrical service should be available to the teacher, but not easily accessible to the students. They are normally located near the teacher s station and not far from the door. Page 22, NSTA Guide to School Science Facilities *ISIMET Utility Controller complies with the NSTA National Science Teachers Association Guide to School Science Facilities. As well as all reviewed State Science Facility Standards. Compliance Statements are available upon request.

7 Utility Controller Description The Utility Controller is a Safety Device that regulates the control of various utility services and devices such as domestic water, natural gas, and electrical outlets within a science classroom, other instructional facilities, research and medical facilities. The solid state electronic controller provides an electronic signal to relays that in turn provide electrical current to relays and contacts, activating the utility service. A keyed service switch integrated into the design of the Utility Controller restricts the ability to activate the utility services, resulting in a safe environment for the students or other occupants. This unique design permits any occupant of the classroom to deactivate the service while allowing only the instructor or supervisor to activate the service. The LS Series Controller enables the instructor to activate and deactivate circuits remotely from anywhere within the classroom. The RA Series is intended for use in retrofit applications. 3 Switch Controller The Utility Controller is easily integrated with other building services often found in many public facilities. The same "EMS" (Energy Management System) that controls and activates the heating and cooling system for the room will provide a higher degree of authority to activate the room utility services. Disengaging the "EMS" at the end of the day will deactivate the Utility Controller and the controlled utilities. At the beginning of the next day, the Utility Controller will remain dormant until it is reactivated by the keyed service switch. The Utility Controller is easily integrated with a building alarm system. Pressing the panic button, located on the front door panel, will alert the administrator that a possible emergency has occurred. The Utility Controller and all controlled services will become inactive. The Utility Controller can become operational only after re-keying or optionally by opening the door panel and pressing the RESET switch. LS - Series Companion Enclosures We have designed our companion enclosures to work in tandem with the Utility Controller. These enclosures take the guesswork out of installing water and gas solenoids (S-Series) as well as the electrical contactors (E-Series). Both enclosures are NEMA rated cabinetry and are available in various sizes and finishes. The S-Series Enclosure utilizes 2 to 4 solenoids (Standard). The S-Series can simplify the installation process and future maintenance of the solenoids by having all mechanical components conveniently located in one area. S-Series Enclosure The E-Series Enclosure is designed to utilize mechanically held lighting contactors to provide control of the convenience outlets in the classroom. The number of posts can be customized to the number of outlets that are specified. The LA-Series Companion Style from ISIMET is the newest design of utility control for individual workstations. This style is especially suited for classrooms having single or dual output requirements; or having only an instructor s work station or when the administration elects to have the instructor s work station operable while the student work areas are disabled. 12 ISIMET Features of the Utility Controller Version 9.1 Series : Output per circuit rating at 2 amps with total max. rating of 4 amps. This unit provides added output amperage in applications where controlling service devices such as solenoids are provided by others, or where output demands exceeds the limits of the Series. Auxiliary Panic Input: One or more ISIMET Remote Panic Buttons can be connected in parallel at posts at Terminal 1. Isolated Panic: Two Input Circuits permit secondary devices such as emergency showers to be monitored by the system with the added feature of enabling the activation of the shower to place the system automatically into the PANIC mode. One of these inputs is intended as a Companioned LA Panic Input whereby the Panic signal from a LA unit does not trigger the LA Output signal. Fuel Gas Detector: An Input Circuit permits a Fuel Gas Monitoring device to turn OFF the fuel gas supply as well as other utilities operated by the system when raw gas is detected. The Unit can be programmed so that after a brief delay, this detection will activate PANIC, thus transmitting a Panic signal. Gas Sensor: An Input Circuit permits a Secondary Gas Monitoring device to turn OFF the fuel gas supply operated by the system. (Circuit # 2) This input can be configured as a Companioned LA Panic Input whereby the Panic signal from a LA unit does not trigger the LA Output signal. LA Companion Unit Integration: All Units are provided with a 24-vac and a Dry-Contact Output for integration of one or more LA Series Companioned Controllers. A Single Controller can operate Panic OFF on a LA Unit at the instructor s desk and a LA Unit operating an adjoining Pre-Room. Panic Monitoring provides two Dry-Contact Outputs, one can be configured as 24-vac, that becomes active with PANIC. Fire Alarm Input permits a Input Signal from the building alarm system to automatically deactivate the system including all operated utilities as well as an integrated purge fan. Fire Alarm Monitoring: All Units are provided with a 24-vac and a Dry-Contact Output for another system to monitor the Utility Controller system when a Fire Alarm Signal shuts down the unit. These outputs can also be used to operate secondary shut-down devices required by fire alarm systems. Additionally, this output circuit can be programmed to act as a Momentary or Inverted Panic Output in order to permit the System designer to select methods to operate and control electrical circuits other than those established by ISIMET. Exhaust Fan Configuration: Fan can be field programmed to permit activation of the exhaust fan during non-occupied periods by striking the panic button. EMS Input: (Building Automation System) A signal from this system will enable and disable the Utility Controller during specified time periods. Input Configurations: The Version 9.1 circuit board is designed to accept either 24 vac/dc or a dry-contact output from an integrated automation system such as EMS or Fire Alarm or monitored device such as a Fuel Gas Detector or Sensor. Jumper points on the circuit board can be configured for the two types of input allowing the user to determine the method of the integration. A - 4

13 Features of the Utility Controller Version 9.1 Circuit Configuration Schedule: Description of Operation and Function Circuit Reset Provided: Reset Switches are provided on output circuits where inductive loads (Electro-Mechanical Solenoids) are present. These Resets are intended to protect the circuit board from short circuit and overloads caused by solenoid malfunction or failure. When these controlled solenoids are provided by ISIMET then the Reset is rated to protect the Controller s circuitry as well as solenoid. In cases when solenoids are provided by others then the ratings match output criteria for the Unit. When ISIMET S-Series Enclosures are provided then these Reset Switches are typically placed in that enclosure. Gas Detector Affects Operation: Where a Fuel Gas Detector is integrated into the system at Terminal 1, posts 16 and 17, then a 24 volt signal from that detector will affect the operation of the unit and its output circuits where indicated by YES. If output is designated as a Switched Exhaust Fan then the circuit will operate ON with this signal. Otherwise, the circuit will turn OFF. Gas Sensor: Where a Secondary Gas Sensor is integrated into the system at Terminal 1, posts 18 and 19, then a 24 volt or dry-contact signal from that sensor will disable Circuit 2, the designated Fuel Gas Circuit for standard units. EMS Influence if Fan: (only when the circuit is designated as a Exhaust Fan) The EMS Shutdown cycle will turn OFF the Switched Exhaust Fan if in operation due to Panic. The circuit can be configured so that the Fan will remain ON due to Panic with EMS Shutdown. EMS always disables Switched Fan Circuit if operated by Switch only. First Keying Timing: Where EMS is not integrated into the system for after hours Auto-Shutdown then a specific designated time can be selected whereby all circuits will turn OFF once this timing cycle expires. Circuit Time OFF Enabled: Upon the first activation of an output circuit by turning a switch ON and then engagement of the key switch, a Circuit Timing Cycle begins. Once this cycle begins, the turning ON of other circuits or placing the Unit into Panic or other modes will not terminate, extend or otherwise affect this cycle. Circuits can be turned OFF and the ON again but the cycle remains until expiration or until all switched output circuits are simultaneously turned OFF by their switch. Selected output circuits will turn OFF at the end of this cycle. Does not affect Switched Fan Circuit that is in operation due to Panic or Gas Detection, nor apply to Remote non-fan Circuit operation. Fan Circuit Time OFF Enabled: An additional timing sequence has been added to the programming code that allows a secondary timing sequence for a designated exhaust fan. This feature assures that an exhaust fan left operational unintentionally will not effect the conditioned air within the room. Panic Notification Delay: Though outputs will immediately respond to a Panic the Panic Notification will be delayed for the designated time. During this delay cycle, if the Panic is terminated then no notification signal will be transmitted. Gas Detected to Panic: Once a Fuel Gas Detection Signal is received, then after a determined delay cycle the Unit will advance to Panic Mode. During this delay cycle, withdrawal of this signal and reset from its effect, the function is cancelled and Panic is cancelled. Basic Circuit Operation: Standard Circuits are operated by Switch ON and then Keying once EMS is active. Fan Circuits are operated by an initial keying once EMS is active, and then by Switch ON. All Remote Circuits except where operates W/ Panic only are operated by an initial keying once EMS is active. Except for Switched Fan Circuits in operation due to Panic or Gas Detection, circuits are disabled with loss of EMS. Remote Circuit 5, Fan option: If operates W/ Panic only is selected then Fan will only operate when in Panic State. If this option is selected then the Fan Circuit Timer can be selected in order to turn this circuit OFF upon time elapse. Additionally, Circuit 5 when not designated as Fan can be configured whereby Alarm does not effect circuit, effects OFF, effects ON. LA Output Circuit: Circuit closes on Alarm, Isolated Panic notification, or when the Panic Button is pressed. Optionally the Gas Sensor Input can also operate this circuit. Circuit 1 Configuration:(Typically Electric): In addition to establishing a timing sequence for this circuit, an option to not allow for circuit shutdown via EMS is obtainable. A - 5

39 ISIMET Seismic Monitoring Controller The ISIMET Seismic Monitoring Controller monitors for seismic activity and transmits signals to turn OFF services to a facility that if left ON after a seismic event with potential breakage in piping or circuits may cause damage to the facility. The unit incorporates an adjustable time delay device that allows for extremely brief seismic or similar activity from resulting in an unwarranted shut down of vital utilities. A low current low voltage backup battery is included with all units where 12-VDC latching solenoids are incorporated into the system. This backup battery insures that services controlled by one of these solenoids will be turned OFF in the event of seismic activity even when electrical power has been disrupted. ENCLOSED INDUSTRIAL CONTROL PANEL NO. E Enclosure Specifications: NEMA 1 gray powder coated Enclosure is intended for flush mounting within an area protected from weather. A stainless steel wall panel provides an auxiliary panic button for disruption of controlled utilities even when there is no seismic activity. The unit is also equipped with either a keyed or push button reset switch that will reactivate the downed utilities. Wall Box: 8 X 14 1/4 X 4 Wall Panel: 11 7/8 X 18 X 7/16 Operation: The Seismic Monitoring Controller remains dormant unless seismic activity is detected over a brief period of time. Once this detection occurs, a 12-VDC shutdown signal is transmitted to latching solenoid valves which control the integrated utilities. Then a 120-VAC shunt signal is transmitted to a shunt-trip breaker to turn OFF all electrical service to the facility. Services controlled by these valves typically include but are not necessarily limited to domestic water and fuel gas services. Optionally, 24-vac signals would be withdrawn from equipment that is electrically held in operational mode and a shunt close signal may be transmitted to a manually reset fuel gas solenoid. Once seismic activity has ended and an opportunity to inspect the facility for damages that may be caused by the seismic activity, it becomes necessary to locate the main shunt-trip breaker for the facility and manually reset that breaker. Once that has been accomplished then resetting the ISIMET Seismic Monitoring Controller can be accomplished by either re-keying or the pressing of the reset switch. All services are now restored. Optionally, the system can be configured to transmit a 120-VAC signal to latch OFF a manual-reset fuel gas solenoid valve. To restore fuel gas service to the facility it will be necessary to manually reset this valve. Optional Configuration: All of the features and capabilities of the ISIMET Seismic Monitoring Controller can be incorporated into the Style 3 of the ISIMET Residential Control Unit. A - 31

50 Enclosure Specifications: At each science classroom, provide an S-Series enclosure as shown on drawings. The enclosure shall be controlled by a Utility Controller that controls all utilities at each student workstation as shown on drawings. Number of solenoid assemblies, intended use, and pipe sizes are noted on Plumbing Schedule. Locate enclosure as shown on drawings. Caution: Emergency safety devices such as Emergency Eyewashes and Emergency Showers should not be controlled or operated by the Utility Controller System. Verify that piping to such devices are connected to main utility services prior to point of connection of solenoids to be controlled by the Utility Controller. Maintenance: We recommend that the piping system be periodically checked to assure that debris is not present in the system. Debris that lodges in the solenoid diaphragm will cause the solenoid to not function properly. Periodically test solenoid operation to assure that the valve closes completely when solenoid is disengaged. When units are provided with in-line strainers, the strainers should be serviced periodically to assure that system is free from foreign materials. Notice: Piping system should be thoroughly flushed prior to operation. If systems are operated without proper flushing, the solenoid diaphragm may become fouled and may not close properly when solenoid coil is disengaged. Fouled diaphragms will also cause coil failure. ISIMET recommends that fluid delivery systems be provided with shock arrestors and in-line strainers. Where enclosures are not specified with integral in-line strainers, one should be field provided immediately upstream of the solenoid. Solenoids should be deenergized when utility is not in use. Do not mount solenoids so that the coil is in a downward position. Important! All local codes must be followed when installing this enclosure. Electrical codes must be followed when making the wiring connections. Verify that the electrical supply is disconnected prior to making the wiring connections or servicing enclosure. Verify wiring requirements for S-Series Enclosure for compliance with Utility Controller specifications. Caution: Do not connect wiring to Utility Controller other than as shown in wiring schematics. Some S-Series Enclosures require independent wiring for operation of the solenoid independent from the control wiring terminal on the Controller. Refer to wiring schematics provided with enclosure. 54 ISIMET Laboratory Safety System RETURN Alarm System EMS Monitoring Lamps Panic Lights Beacon E-Series Enclosure S-Series Enclosure LA Series The Innovative Solutions Section of our Catalog is devoted to a demonstration of the operating integration of the complete line of safety control devices that we offer.

55 Sequence of Operation for the Utility Controller Safety System Operational Modes of the System 1. The Operational Mode: (occupied state of the facility) The Operational Mode is dependent upon receipt of an enabling signal received from the facility s energy management control system EMS and lack of a fire alarm signal. In this mode, activation of the utilities at the student workstations is permitted. Placing the desired operating switch in the ON position and then engaging the service key or pressing the key button on the Keyfob achieves restrictive activation. Whereby, a 24-vac control signal activates the solenoid valves for the gas and/or water located in the S-Series Enclosure, as well as an electrical contactor for the 120-vac receptacles at the E-Series Enclosure. An illuminated Monitoring Lamp is indication that a utility is active. Selective deactivation is accomplished by placing the corresponding operating switch to OFF or by pressing the corresponding button on the Keyfob. Intent of operation is such that utilities remain OFF unless selectively activated or turned ON. The exhaust fan fitted as an auxiliary output module permits its restrictive operation. The fan circuit remains in a disabled mode until first engagement of the service key. Thereafter during the classroom day, the auxiliary switch permits convenient ON - OFF operation without the otherwise required engagement of the service key. The LA Series Panel permits independent activation of the utilities at the Instructor's Demo Stand. A single switch simultaneously activates all utility outlets at this stand upon engagement of its service key. The panel s panic button acts as a remote panic button for the primary control unit. 2. The Non-Operational Mode: (unoccupied state of the facility) Upon withdrawal of the enabling control signal from the facility s EMS, the Utility Controller and all companioned devices are disabled and become non-operational. All utilities, including exhaust fans, are deactivated. An illuminated panel mounted lamp is indication that a utility output circuit was left active at withdrawal of the enabling control signal. Upon return to operational mode, output circuits require re-keying of the service key switch in order to again become active. Exhaust fans having their module configured for after-hours operation are permitted to operate if a panic mode is achieved during an unoccupied state.

56 3. Panic Mode: Panic is achieved by one of the following ways: Pressing the EMERGENCY button located on the Controller s door panel; Striking any Remote Panic Button including the one located on the LA Series at the Instructor s Demo Stand Control Panel; Pressing the panic button on the Hand-Held Keyfob; or Activating the emergency shower. Operation of this shower sends an activation signal to the Remote Monitoring Station. Either immediately or after a pre-determined time delay, a panic signal is emitted to the Utility Controller. Upon PANIC, all utilities are deactivated. All panel mounted indicators illuminate to indicate PANIC. The exhaust fan circuit becomes instantly active, purging the classroom of toxic fumes. An emitted signal to the Remote Monitoring Station activates a time delay, and when complete activates the Monitoring Beacon located outside of the classroom in the adjoining corridor that will flash, thus providing notification that the classroom has a potential emergency within. After a separate time delay, the Monitoring Horn sounds. A Panic notification signal is also delivered to the building alarm systems. Reset of the panic mode is accomplished only by re-keying of the service key switch or by reset of the internal RESET button or by pressing of the key button on the Keyfob. Thereafter, all utilities again become enabled. The Demo Stand LA Series panel when so configured resets independent of the primary Controller. 4. Alarm Mode: Upon receipt of a fire notification signal from the facility s alarm system the Utility Controller, as well as all integrated utility systems including the exhaust fan, will become instantly disabled. Likewise, any auxiliary electrical circuits or other utilities receiving secondary control from the system will also become disabled. Reset from Alarm is accomplished solely by manual reset, thus preventing unauthorized reactivation until a positive Clear from Alarm can be confirmed.

57 How The ISIMET FLA Series Fire House System Works 1. Alarm Notification is received at the FLA Series Controller 2. Immediately ALL integrated devices are disabled and turned OFF. GAS RANGES OFF ELECTRIC OVENS OFF MICROWAVES - OFF OUT DOOR GRILLS - OFF 3. Alarm Notification is withdrawn. The FLA Controller is now enabled but DOES NOT OPERATE 4. Service is restored only after Manual reset at the Panel 5. Service is restored to the Kitchen Appliances only after MANUAL reset at the Panel. 6. Service is restored to the REMOTE OPERATOR but this unit remains OFF until it is reset at the site. Gas Service is only then restored to the Grill. GAS Ranges and Electrical Appliances will now operate.

58 How The ISIMET DLA Series Controller Works Typical Operation With the switch ON and the key engaged (or optionally button pressed), a 12-vdc signal operates the solenoids controlling the water service to the restroom. In the case of patient room applications, there is no need for the drain-down solenoids. Typical Operation for Drug Testing Lab Facilities: Water Supply Solenoids will OPEN when the Service Switch is turned ON and the Service Key is activated. They will CLOSE when the Service Switch is turned OFF or the Panic Button is pressed. Drain-Down Solenoids will CLOSE when the Service Switch is turned ON and the Service Key is activated. These Solenoids will OPEN when the Service Switch is turned OFF or the Panic Button is pressed. The Drain-Down Solenoids should Discharge Open-Site to a Sanitary Receptacle.

67 ISIMET Fuel Gas Sensors Series Turret Mount Series Wall Mount The Fuel Gas Sensor is intended for use with an ISIMET Utility Controller System where fuel gas is controlled. The Sensor derives power directly from the Controller and transmits a dry-contact signal back to the Controller when raw fuel gas is detected. Features: Time delay feature optional 0, 10, 20 or 30 seconds allows for a momentary delay in notification though raw gas is detected, enabling the user to turn OFF a fuel gas outlet before a crisis can occur. Note optional setting as Model # suffix when ordering. A flashing beacon located on the wall plate will notify the user that raw fuel gas has been detected. Once the time delay expires, a signal is transmitted to the Controller, turning OFF the Fuel Gas circuit as well as any other circuit that has selected programming to monitor for raw fuel gas detection. The beacon will then remain ON continually until the sensor has been reset. Reset of the unit will only occur once no raw fuel gas is detected. For Series 1 Units, Reset is accomplished by Re-keying the Utility Controller to which it is connected. Reset by keying the Controller will also turn back ON all utilities disabled by the Sensor that have their service switch in the ON position. Other Units are provided with a panel mounted reset switch. Sensitivity of the unit is settable from 500 ppm to 10,000 ppm. Factory setting is 500 ppm and can be adjusted downward (requiring more ppm to detect) by turning the integral variable resistor to the left (CCW). D - 8
