History AOS Orwell was formed in 2011 following the merger of AOS (Africa Oilfield Services Ltd) and Orwell International (Oil & Gas) Nig Ltd. AOS Ltd was founded and registered in the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1981 and is recognised as West-Africa s leading provider of Downhole Drilling Tools, Fishing Services and Wireline Pipe-Recovery Services to the Oil & Gas industry. AOS also provides fully API certified Machine-Shop Services and has a reputation for providing experience, expertise and top of the range dependable, reliable and fit for purpose technology. In 1992 AOS established its Wireline Division and has more than 200 man years of field experience in Wireline Pipe Recovery and is renowned for its expertise in this domain. Through a series of joint ventures and partnerships established with international Blue-chip OEM s, AOS has extended its portfolio of technology introduction into West Africa. Orwell International (Oil & Gas) Nig Ltd was previously a member of the Orwell Group in Aberdeen, one of the largest independent equipment rental companies in Europe. It became a privately owned indigenous company in 2000 and continued to grow in both size and reputation to become one of fastest growing indigenous oilfield service company in Nigeria. Corporate Overview AOS Orwell now operates from a main head office and operating bases in Port Harcourt. Three facilities provide a combined area of more than 18,000 square meters. Plans within Nigeria for 2011 will see the company relocate into a new facility of 46,000 square meters. Administration, sales and technical support are provided through an Sales office in Victoria Island, Lagos. AOS Orwell has also started operations and has bases in Ghana and Uganda. We are the first indigenous complete drilling support service committed to local content and local communities, with the highest professional standards. AOS Orwell always takes into consideration the host community and the local environment, while supporting local companies, local engineering expertise and providing local technical knowledge transfer wherever applicable and possible. Local Content Locally sourced input as a percentage of total contract value has grown significantly from around 55% in 2008 to around 70% in 2011, with the trend anticipated to continue. We have built up relationships with contractors and service providers locally, with a database of relevant engineering procurement companies. All logistics activities are carried out using domestic transportation including flights, cars and trucking. For all equipment transportation we use local companies with appropriate international freight forwarding services. Local Community We are actively involved in our host community, providing training and development for local people to become competent oilfield workers. Furthermore we support and develop small and medium sized local enterprise by providing guidance on how to service corporate organizations. A dedicated officer from the community is employed for efficient and effective liaison with the community.
