2 By practicing emergency procedures and drills its helps to ensure student and staff safety. The more aware WE ALL ARE of the procedures in place the safer we are as a school. Please take the time to review the procedures as mentioned in this presentation. Ask questions and share concerns. They are all valid and deserve to be heard. All drill procedures and specifics are listed in staff Red Emergency Folders (please use as reference) Purpose

3 Fire Drill once a month Lockdown Drill one time a year Evacuation Drill (stadium) one time a year Evacuation Drill (Lenape) once every 2 years Shelter in Place once every 2 years Severe Weather Drill once every 2 years 5 Types of Drills

4 Procedures Please make sure all doors and windows are closed. Exit the building (each room has a sign indicating the proper exit). Exit in an orderly and expeditious manner to the correct location. Students remain with class Scenarios Fire in the building Bomb threat What if? between classes? Go to last class during lunch? Exit cafeteria emergency exits out to MacFarlane Lane In the bathroom? Meet your class outside at the designated location Fire Drill

5 Procedures Lockdown will be announced Go to the nearest room as quickly as possible. close all windows, pull the shades, lock the doors, and turn off the lights. move to an area of the room that is NOT visible from the door. No one is permitted to leave his/her location. students remain as quiet and as calm as possible. Scenarios Intruder in the building Danger outside the building What if? In the bathroom? Try to get back to your classroom or go to nearest classroom If not possible, hide as best as you can where you are Between classes? Get into the nearest classroom and follow procedures Lockdown Drill

6 The building will be evacuated through the fire drill procedures. As soon as the building is clear and attendance is taken, students and staff will be directed to proceed to WMF Home Stands. Please wait for the announcement to begin moving to WMF. *** Please stay on the macadam path. Please do not walk across the field or on the track. PLEASE fill the stadium from the top down. We are organized by ADVISORIES Once seated, please take attendance. Everyone should remain seated until given directions otherwise. **teachers have more specific procedures in Emergency Manual Evacuation Drill - Stadium

8 Procedures An announcement will be made to Shelter in Place All staff and students need to enter the nearest room as quickly Staff and students will be directed to the designated location (auditorium or Main Gym) via PA system. Stay with your class and attendance will be taken when you are seated at either the Gym or the Auditorium. Scenarios Chemical spill Hazardous situation outside What if? In lunch/lobby? Follow directions of staff to exit cafeteria Shelter in Place

9 Procedure In the event of severe weather, it is necessary for all persons to move to the most protected internal locations. Teachers have locations listed in Emergency Manual It is important to go to interior walls and rooms with little or no windows Scenarios Tornado What if? In bathroom? Try to get back to classroom ASAP or find more interior part of building nearest to your location In lunch/lobby? Listen for instructions from staff Severe Weather Drill
