Far too often it is believed that modern roses lack fragrance or that fragrant roses are not healthy. With this collection we can demonstrate this is not the case. The addition of this collection to Kordes Special Series, continues to highlight their dedication to creating disease resistant roses. DARK DESIRE Unique violet-red cupped flowers emerge from almost black buds, before maturing into blooms in a spectrum of colour from red to violet purple, to even darker hues. A sport with all the typical health, fragrance and colour of the bush variety. Water is the secret to better roses Water gives long stems, good growth and top quality blooms. Lack of water results in short stems and smaller flowers. The more you can do to retain moist soil around the roots of your roses the better. (Talk to us about mulch options). However, while roses love a good watering regime they don t like wet feet be sure to give them well drained soil.

Recurrent. 1.5m. FREYCINET This beautiful Tasmanian bred Rugosa rose produces fragrant purple double blooms opening to reveal yellow stamens, ending with large red hips. Dark green foliage. Can be grown as a large shrub. REINE DE VIOLETTES Large double Violet red blooms develop into a softer colouring with age. Near thornless stems with grey green foliage. Profuse recurrent bloom. 1.5m ROSERAIE DE L HAY A dense bush with strong pink, semi-double loose flowers. Recurrent. Fragrant. 2m RUGOSA ALBA Fragrant single, papery pure white flowers with yellow stamens followed by attractive display of reddish-orange hips. RUGOSA SCABROSA Large single blooms of magenta with golden stamens, followed by large bright red hips. Magnificent foliage on a spreading bush approx. 1.5m tall. One of the outstanding garden shrubs. Cut the flowers in the bud stage as the outer petals start to uncurl. Place the stems immediately into water - the sap does not stop flowing directly after the cut and if left too long before going into water, it will start to form an air bubble in the stem base. No water will pass this bubble and will cause the flower to droop. The bubble can be cut from the base of the stem by taking off the bottom 2cm. This is why you are told to recut stems before placing into the vase. When picking the flower from the bush, please remember to leave the stem attached to the plant with at least two sets of five leaflets so your plant will grow more healthy stems.
