TheBoardwillmeetonAugust26atwhich timewewillfinalizeplansforourmeeting scheduleandtheyear sactivities.weare lookingforwardtoseeingyouallatthefall KickoffmeetingonSeptember14(Note changefromoriginaldateofseptember7). InvitesomeonetoattendtheKickoffwithyou andintroducethemtoaauw.moredetailswill befoundelsewhereinfoliage. Priortothepassageofthe19 th Amendment in1920,that sthewaythingswerefor womeninwisconsin.believeitornot,this wasanimprovementoverthe1880law thatgavewomentherighttorunforschool board butnottovoteintheelection! Wehavecomealongway.Infact,inevery Presidentialelectionfrom1980to2004, womenhavebeenapowerfulforce.intheseelections,ahigherpercentageofwomenthanmen registered,andthenvoted.allwomendonotvotethesame,butdotendtovoteasabloc,andin that24yearperiod,tendedtovoteforthedemocraticcandidate.thismeansthatallsidesare nowlookingtocourtthevoteofwomen.thisgendergapgivesusthepowertoinfluence politicianstorespondtotheinterestsofwomenvoters. Wehaveachancetoprotecthard foughtgainsandmakeprogressonissueslikeeducation, health,retirementissues,andnationalsecurity,tonamejustafew.asindividualsandasan organization,wecanencourageregisteredwomenvoterstogettothepollsandcasttheir ballots.wecanhelppotentialvoterstoregister.wecanbeinformedvotersandhelpothersto findlegitimateinformationontheissues.
