World Trade Center I - II Koning Albert II laan 26A The World Trade Center of Brussels, is a complex of skyscrapers at the corner of Albert II Boulevard and Simon Bolivar Boulevard in the Northern Quarter central business district of Brussels Its three towers are among the tallest buildings in The complex was originally planned to have eight towers, all around the corner of Albert II Boulevard and Simon Bolivar Boulevard The two of these at the northwest corner of the intersection became the Belgacom Towers and the two at the southwest the North Galaxy Towers Of the remaining four, two were built in the 1970s, one was built across the street in the 1980s, and the fourth was never built 1978 Groupe Structures Nazar 2
photo: Filip Dujardin photo: Filip Dujardin Sporthall in Schaarbeek Rue Royale-Sainte-Marie 117 The project sits within a historically upper class area, within a homogeneous and continuous building frontage that defined clear boundaries between private and public space While maintaining the building alignment, the proposal stands off the traditional layout, and gives a contemporary answer to the current social and multicultural change The building blurs the boundaries between public and private thanks to a perforated metal cladded front courtyard As visitors (users, pedestrians) approach it, a milk like perforated white screen gradually opens up and reveals a front open air recreational amenity and a background high performance translucent polyester volume While maintaining the street alignment, the lower part of grated screen unfolds to allow the public space to extend within the building during opening hours Beside the social unifying symbolic role, the large folding gate creates porch roof for the building photo: Filip Dujardin 2013 O2 s Nazar 3

photo: Isabelle et Florian Haerdter photo: Isabelle et Florian Haerdter Zenith Tower Boulevard du Roi Albert Brussels The Zenith Tower forms a key element in the composition of the Schaerbeek business district, at the end of the perspective down avenue Albert II Its vertical division reinforces its axial position and in the central section allows hanging gardens, suspended in balconies over the avenue The lateral façades composed of a double skin propose a chromatic game in the interstitial surfaces, where pleated, shimmering window breasts appear to reduce solidity The tower changes its appearance according to the angle of vision or the inclination of the light Project is not public! Floor area/size m², Urban planner Client SCAU Codic Marine photo: Isabelle et Florian Haerdter 7
Brigittines Chapel Rue des Brigittines 1 The chapel of the Brigittines, built in 1663, lies in a critical point in the urban fabric of Brussels Closed between the railway and the Marolles neighbourhood, the old monument appeared dominated by the tall apartment building standing behind it, which annihilated its monumentality and undermined its historical and artistic value The new extension thus replicates the lines and geometry of the existing chapel It counterposes to its mass a light structure which valorises the identity of the old building The doubled volume looks like a simplified image of the church, where the fundamental constructive elements are systematically replicated Between the two a third element, sculptural in nature, functions as the?trait d?union? between the original materiality of the façade and its modern negation This interstitial void between the two built volumes is the place to understand the entire organisation of the building 2008 Andrea Bruno Nazar 8
Vanhaerents Rue de la Senne 36 This 40 apartments building in downtown Brussels was commissioned by a real estate developer The building is part of an ensemble of 3 existing building with very different characteristics and is situated between 3 streets (Fabriques/Senne/Anneessens) The surrounding existing buildings are very motley, regarding heights, functions, typologies The project proposed to enhance the neoclassical building in order to restore the urban order by joining the size of the building next door This raise consists of a dark volume, reminder of the new building located at the opposite corner of the complex and of the central part enhances The new parts are therefore designed with a specific expression of unification of the complex They are identified by the color black, while a series of elements (balconies, volumes, buildings) transplanted / reported, from different sizes, colors and scales, animate / complete / consolidate this portion of the hétéroclite building block 2010 Lhoas & Lhoas es Nazar 9

photo: Jeroen Meijer photo: Jeroen Meijer Hergé museum Rue du Labrador Louvain-la-Neuve A museum dedicated to Belgian artist and Tintin author Hergé The Musée Hergé is situated in a forest and connected to the city of Louvain-la-Neuve by a footbridge Large, comic-strip-like bay windows allow natural light to fill the large reception area, from which the four large exhibition spaces can be accessed, meandering footbridges link the exhibition spaces Each of the objects has its own personality; each is a kind of character Each has a specific sculptural form, colour and unique design Each displays an aspect, disproportionately enlarged, derived from Hergé s drawing style One traces Tintin in America, another King Ottokar s Sceptre etc Floor area/size m² Artist Landscape designer Client Christian de Portzamparc Joost Swarte Wirtz International Fanny + Nick Rodwell jpmm photo: Jeroen Meijer Daily except monday: 10:00-17:30 h Weekend: 10:00-18:00 h Car: from Brussels take the E411 direction Louvain La Neuve, take the Boulevard du Nord along the museum through the tunnel, left 180 degrees, take the left entrance of the parking garage, far left lift takes you up to the foot bridge 12
photo: ABSCIS architecten photo: ABSCIS architecten TEXACO Heverlee and hotel E Heverlee Starting from the E40; a strong infrastructure vein, fast traffic is refined and reduced until finally distilled into quieter parking spaces and picnic areas These areas visually meander and flow into the surrounding landscape and beyond Central to the idea of the plan is a pedestrian axis This directs traffic to specific areas, solely dedicated for the purpose of rest and relaxation This walking-axis offers the possibility for users to experience the surroundings and to pleasantly reach the service station in safety The architecture serves to continue the notion of creating a subtle structure set within a rural context At the centre of the overall landscape lies the service station This area is intended for refuelling, loading and unloading; it also facilitates a shop, a restaurant and a hotel The petrol station is separated by a pedestrian path which runs parallel to the traffic flow photo: ABSCIS architecten 2011 Abscis en Abscis 13
