Lillbacka Corporation was founded by Jorma Lillbacka in Initially, Jorma Lillbacka acted as a subcontractor for machine engineering projects, but in 1973 he began developing better ways of crimping hydraulic hose assemblies. 3 New Products 3 Lillbacka Introduces Two New Crimping Machines Lillbacka Corporation recently introduced the Finn-Power 120 uc and 140 uc crimping machines. these serial production models are designed for high-volume production and handle large jobs with optimal crimping force, speed, and efficiency. What distinguishes them are their precision, large die openings, strength, and speed. Another important feature is that these production units can accommodate both small and large assemblies. their pass-through head design makes them ideal for crimping elbow assemblies, flanged pieces, and oddly-shaped parts. the 120 and 140 crimping machines can be used for hose assemblies, tube and pipe, cable and rope, plastic and fiberglass, and many other fastening and joining applications. these crimpers feature a new uc Control, which has computing power and features never seen before on crimping machines, such as automated quality control reporting options and an easy to use menu guided operation. the feedback of the master die position allows part crimp dimensions to be changed within seconds. the uc control also includes a feedback device for monitoring of the opening stroke to be set to an exact position. this greatly reduces energy consumption and enhances the cycle time of the machine, since it negates the need to run the machine fully open or fully closed. the 120 model provides up to 280 tons of crimping force with a master die travel of 68 mm. the 140 crimping machine provides up to 320 tons of crimping force with a master die travel of 82 mm. 5 Customer Profile Finn-Power Crimpers Provide Speed & Reliability to Motion Industries Motion Industries serves the industrial marketplace with MRo (maintenance, repair, and operation) replacement parts and services through a network of 500 locations across north America. Customers have access to over 3.7 million parts from Motion's extensive line of authorized brands in Bearings, Mechanical Power transmission, electrical and Industrial Automation, hydraulic and Industrial hose, hydraulic and Pneumatic Components, Industrial supplies, and Material handling. We supply all the surrounding branches with hose and hose related products, explains Brad Klages, branch manager, of Motion s Industries hose & Coupling Div., Woodridge, IL. We do the assembly work and will fabricate a finished product for our customers. We sell hose from 1/8 to 10 diameter and 80% of the hose we sell is crimped. 5 to service the hose market, Motion Industries has nine strategically located stand-alone hose fabrication shops, 9 distribution centers, and the largest inventory of hose products in north America, including industrial, hydraulic, metal, and teflon hose. these hose shops adhere to nahad specification Guidelines and strict quality control. Motion s largest hose fabrication shop 46,000 square feet is located in Woodridge, IL. While all nine of these hose fabrication shops have Lillbacka Finn-Power crimpers as part of their equipment, the Woodridge facility has a total of five Finn- Power machines: three FP120 crimpers, one FP160 crimper, and one CM75 hose cutter. The FP120 is a high-speed, high-production model that has a crimping force of up to 280 tons. It quickly adjusts and crimps to an exact dimension, and can adjust in.01 mm increments. continued on page 6 Quick Change Tool System Another Finn-Power crimper feature that Motion Industries likes about the FP120 is the Quick Change tool system (QC), that allows the entire die set to be changed in one easy operation. the pins on the QC tool engage the QC holes in the dies. As the master dies open/close, the die segments are released from the master dies and retained on the QC tool. the die segments are held to the tool by a magnet. the die set then can be stored in the QC storage rack. We have no maintenance issues with the Finn- Power crimpers, he states. the crimpers are very reliable. other than changing the oil and springs, we don t have to do anything to them. they are real workhorses.

6 Customer Profile continued from page 5 6 According to Diane Barry, director of operations for the hose & Rubber Centers, lead times can often be very tight. our oem lead times can run from four weeks to four hours, says Barry. We get many rush orders. It is not uncommon to get a call at 3:00 pm for delivery the next morning. As a result, the speed of the crimping is very important. the FP120 is a high-speed, high production model that has a crimping force of up to 280 tons. It quickly adjusts and crimps to an exact dimension, and can adjust in.01 mm increments. the FP120 is designed with soft and even die movement, using a twin-pump hydraulic system which eliminates pressure shock during crimping. this crimper is designed to handle large jobs with optimal crimping force, speed, and efficiency. these models are full-scale production units. What distinguishes them are their larger die opening, strength, and speed. these production units can accommodate small and larger assemblies. their large pass-through head design makes them ideal for crimping elbow assemblies, flange pieces, and oddly-shaped parts. Other Finn-Power machines the Finn-Power FP165 is an ideal choice when a variety of sizes and types of fittings are produced in large quantities. this crimper is especially suited for manufacturing large fittings. Its high capacity, flexibility, and complementary control options put these machines in a class of their own. the CM75 hose cutting machine is designed to cut all types of hose up to 2 diameter, 4-spiral hoses. the 520 mm diameter blade operates at 3,000 rpm. the hose is pushed against the blade by a pneumatic cylinder. Piston movement speed can be quickly and easily adjusted to choose optimal cutting speed for each type of hose. The Finn-Power FP165 is an ideal choice when a variety of sizes and types of fittings are produced in large quantities. This crimper is especially suited for manufacturing large fittings. the reliability and the integrity of the crimp is extremely important, explains Klages. We are an Iso certified shop, so we do check the integrity of the crimp. We also do random burst testing to verify the integrity of the crimp. everything is calibrated with the machines and we are building good products. Rarely do we have any issues with the quality of the crimp. If there is a failure it is the hose. As Diane Barry concludes, the Finn-Power crimpers reliability, consistency, speed, and low maintenance are all major reasons for our continued loyalty through the years.
