8 SUBMITTAL SHEET Form Number TSLX4.0 Effective Date 09/04 LINEAHEAT CODE LX Volt X designates input power code Proportional Electric Heat Controlled by Analog 2-10 dcv (4-20 ma) Output (Discharge Temperature Sensor Optional) LX4 Provides proportional electric heat from 0 to 100% for those controllers that have 2-10 dcv (4-20 ma) available for supplemental heat control. Heater output is directly proportional to dc Volt signal over 2 dcv. For example, 4 dcv (6 ma) provides 25% (2dcV/ 8dcVs * 100%) of the heater s kw rating. For inputs below 2 dcv (4 ma), heater will stay off. If LineaHeat is used with optional discharge temperature sensor, the heater is set to modulate heat to a set discharge temperature. User defined maximum temperature and controller defined temperature desired are maintained independent of heater kw or incoming air temperature. The maximum discharge temperature produced by the heater is set by rotary dial on the LineaHeat control board. When the unit receives a signal to start heating, % HEATER CAPACITY V (4 ma) the board will take an initial temperature reading and modulate heat from that point to the maximum temperature. For example, if a thermostat requires only a 10% increase in heating of air that was initially 60 F, and has a maximum temperature setting of 90 F, the EHM will modulate the heater s output temperature to 63 F (the additional 3 degrees coming from (90-60 )*10%). This option allows an increase of heater energy into occupancy by increasing discharge airflow while keeping an optimal discharge temperature. ASHRAE Fundamentals Handbook (Chapter 31) states that discharging air at a temperature more than 15 F above the room (90 F in a 75 F room) will likely result in significant unwanted air temperature stratification. 4V (8 ma) ANALOG OUTPUT 6V (12 ma) 8V (16 ma) 10V (20 ma) Product Information is Subject to Change Without Notice

9 SUBMITTAL SHEET Form Number TSLXY.0 Effective Date 09/04 LINEAHEAT PROPORTIONAL HEATERS With Optional Discharge Temperature Sensor LineaHeat is an electronic, time proportional electric heat system utilizing quiet, rapid performing solid-state relays. The solid-state relays are switched off and on by the LineaHeat Electric Heat Module (EHM) dependent on the call for heat from the controls. The LineaHeat EHM accepts a variety of different input signals from terminal unit controllers or thermostats, which can be determined by the position of one or two jumpers easily accessible on the board. Specific LineaHeat Submittals are available for each application that details the function and wiring of the board. LineaHeat is available with an optional discharge temperature sensor that will modulate the discharge temperature between the maximum temperature setting and initial temperature of incoming air before heating began. The discharge temperature set point is easily set in the field by rotating the temperature dial on the EHM. The EHM will not allow temperatures over the set point to insure meeting of ASHRAE 62, Addenda N, preventing unwanted temperature stratification and direct heat loss through return ductwork. On/Off (LX1) One 24 Vac input at Inc steps the heater output from OFF to 100% heater kw rating. The signal may be pulsed off and on over a small time period to provide proportional heat. 2 Stage (LX2) Two 24 Vac inputs step the heater output from OFF to 50% or 100% heater kw rating. 0-10V (LX3) 0-10 Vdc (0-20mA) signal proportionally modulates the heater output. 2-10V (LX4) 2-10 Vdc (4-20 ma) signal proportionally modulates the heater output. Incremental (LX5) One 24 Vac input modulates heater output, mirroring a Normally Closed water valve s action. An increase signal will increase the heater output from 0% to 100% over a 4 minute 15 second interval. When the signal is removed, the heater output will decrease to 0% over the same time period. Binary (LX6) Two 24 Vac inputs step the heater from OFF to 33%, 67%, or 100% of the heater kw rating. 3 Point Floating (LX7) Two 24 Vac inputs increase or decrease heater output, mirroring a Three-Point floating hot water valve. When the increase signal is sent, the heater will increase from 0% to 100% over a 4 minute 15 second interval. If the increase signal is removed, or the decrease signal is also added, the heater will stay constant at the present point. When only the decrease signal is sent, the heater will decline from the present level to 0% over the same time period. 24 Vac Neutral Signal Com Dec icom Inc } } 24VAC POWER FOR CONTROLS 0-10 dcv INPUTS } FROM CONTROLS OPTIONAL DISCHARGE } TEMPERATURE SENSOR 24 VAC INPUTS FROM CONTROLS Inc icom Dec Com Signal Neutral 24Vac (24Vac) (24Vac) 10Vmax Aux Inc icom Dec Sensor Com Signal Neutral 24Vac Com 49 C 120 F Tcal 32 C 90 F High Limit Earth 20 C 68 F EVO/EHM- 24Vac Neutral Xfmr 24Vac Neutral + Relay - SSRs + Relay V 2-10V Float 2Stg Incr On/Off Bin Select Sequence> 24 VAC POWER FROM HEATER TRANSFORMER{ PROPORTIONALLY PULSED dc SIGNAL TO SOLID STATE RELAYS { 24 Vac Neutral Relay + Relay - JUMPER PINS DESIGNATE CONTROL SEQUENCE Product Information is Subject to Change Without Notice
