8 FUNCTION S+L The pellet/water mixture is supplied into the dryer through the inlet case. By means of pre-dewatering most of the water is separated from the pellets. The pellets are conveyed upwards through the sieve basket by the blades of the rotor. Because of the pellets bouncing and rolling on the sieve, the water is separated. The dried product leaves the dryer in an airflow through the tangentially arranged port at top of the dryer. The water outlet is arranged through a hole in the bottom or in the wall of the dryer housing.

Often the pellets are very light in weight or they can only be conveyed into the dryer by means of a worm gear.
