3 Municipal Solid Waste Municipalities are responsible for providing waste services for households and for similar waste from public entities; hospitals, schools etc. Waste services for commercial household waste is on market and treatment on their own responsibility. Municipalities have organized regional authorities and in-house companies to provide municipal services for the households public entities.

5 Municipal Solid Waste in Finnish Lappland In urban and suburban areas MSW from households is colleted on kerbside In rural areas households can choose between kerbside or district collection. District collection is about half cheeper.
6 Municipal Solid Waste in Finnish Lappland Furnitures and other large objects, which should not be left in the property waste container, and hazardous wastes you have to bring to central collection and disposal. You can bring it to municipality s sorting station or leave to touring collection vechiles twice a year (touring only in villages) Sorting station

With it you can leave free chargable waste (e.g. furnitures, demolition and construction waste) to sorting station four times a year. The number of customer visits and the amount of waste are doubled on eko stations.
