17 Rewarding eco-design for recycling Revised waste framework directive adopted on 22/05/2018 Financial contributions paid by the producer of the product to comply with its extended producer responsibility obligations ( ) are modulated, where possible, for individual products or groups of similar products, notably by taking into account their durability, reparability, re-usability and their recyclability and the presence of hazardous substances hereby taking a life-cycle approach Eco-modulation of fees as a requirement for EPR Schemes. To support products recyclability / recycled content as well as enable economical & efficient reuse, dismantling and recycling of end of life products (WEEE, complex packaging using paper, plastics, etc.).

21 decabde - State of play Recast of the POP Regulation: Initial proposal from COM Report of MEP Julie Girling (June 2018) proposing to add decabde to Annex I of the EU POP Regulation (UTC) without a derogation for recycled materials. Amendments tabled by MEPs -27 June Rapporteur of the ENVI organised with EuRIC support a workshop at the European Parliament gathering the European Commission (D. Callejo-Crespo, Director General DG Environment) Vote at the ENVI Committee: Vote of the EP Plenary scheduled on 15 November. Discussions in the Council Decision to be taken by end of EuRIC produced 3 position papers on the Recast, and one joint position paper co-signed with 10 associations. Technical guidelines on sound management of waste containing POPs (Basel Convention) Decision on the low POP content limit value (Annex IV of the EU POP Regulation). OEWG and SIWG of the Basel Convention (September and October 2018). Workshop DG ENV Ramboll/BiPRO study on POPs in waste: Ecodesign Proposal to prohibit brominated flame retardants in electronic displays.
