The product must be earthed 3 Pull-out and place the drilling guide template (ON PAGES 5-6) over the remaining pipe sections and mark holes for mounting screws and electrical cable. 4 Drill 2 holes in the wall for mounting the rear housing. Drill the hole for the mains cable according to the drilling guide template for threading the mains cable into the property. 5 Use screws and wall plugs to screw rear housing onto wall. 6 Step 3: Installation - Assembly Control Unit Assembly Top Tip: Sleeve the hole to ease cable entry and to protect the cable in the wall. Step 3: Installation - Electrical Front Cover and Electrical Connection 1 Secure the front cover of the Drayton Condensate FreeFlo using the 4 long screws provided. 1 Push the rubber hose into the rear of the pipe adapter then push both into the cut 22mm overflow pipe until the pipe adapter bottoms on the rear housing. This provides a watertight seal for the condensate and positions the flow of condensate over the middle of the outlet nozzle. 2 Place the outlet nozzle in the slot at the bottom of the rear housing. 3 Push the electrical cable of the control unit through the hole in the wall until the unit sits neatly in the rear housing. 4 Use the 5 short screws supplied to fix the control unit to the rear housing. 5 Join the outlet nozzle to the pipe leading to the drain Joint made by Installer 2 Connect the electrical cable inside the property to a convenient fused spur, being sure to earth the device. The wiring must be compliant with IET Wiring Regulations. 3 Add insulation to the remaining condensate pipe (min 13mm thickness) and ensure that the last section of pipe before the drain is vertical. Current building regulations state that the end of the pipe must be below the level of the grille but above the water level. Also ensure that there is no sagging in the pipe where condensate can collect. 4 Switch on the device at the fused spur. The LED on the front panel will be RED for 0.5 seconds, then AMBER for three seconds while the product performs a self test, before changing to green to indicate correct installation/function (see Commissioning on page 11).! Important Notes: This device must be earthed! The condensate pipe must be lagged with minimum 13mm insulation to ensure product function. 9 Condensate FreeFlo CF301 10

7 Final Step: Commissioning 1 When mains voltage is applied, the Drayton Condensate FreeFlo will carry out a short test cycle to ensure everything is running correctly. The LED will be briefly RED, then turn AMBER for 3 seconds (while the product performs a self test) before turning GREEN to indicate that everything is OK. This self test will be repeated once every week when the product is powered. 2 In normal operation the GREEN LED will illuminate to indicate that the product is functioning correctly. 3 If a fault condition is detected the LED will change to RED or flashing red (see Fault Finding opposite).! Important Note: The internal control unit is a non-serviceable unit and must NOT be opened! 8 1 Condensate FreeFlo CF301 2 Homeowner Guide Homeowner Guide Homeowner Guide Peace of Mind Automatic Operation The Drayton Condensate FreeFlo runs completely automatically. It switches itself on when the temperature falls below 5 C, automatically adjusts the warm air flow as the outside temperature changes, and then switches itself off again when the temperature goes back above 5 C. No intervention on your part is needed your condensing boiler carries on working all winter long. After the event of power loss or a power cut, the Drayton Condensate FreeFlo starts up without any user invention. Running Costs (at 2011 energy prices) When outside temperature is above 5 C, your Condensate FreeFlo costs less than 1p per day to run. At -15 C this will increase to about 2.5p per hour. Indicator Light Congratulations on purchasing this Drayton product. Installed correctly the Drayton Condensate FreeFlo will ensure that your external condensate pipe run stays free of ice in all weathers and down to -15ºC (for insulated 3m pipe runs). This keeps your condensing boiler running all winter long. The Drayton Condensate FreeFlo has a green LED on the front panel to indicate that all is working well. It also performs a weekly self test to ensure that everything inside functions correctly. If you do notice that this green light has turned to RED or is flashing red, please call your installer to check the unit. What is the Drayton Condensate FreeFlo? All boilers produce water when burning gas or oil, and in a condensing boiler, this water condenses and must be drained from the boiler. If the condensate pipe of your boiler runs outside your property then your boiler may stop in prolonged cold weather if the condensate pipe freezes and prevents this condensate water from leaving the boiler. The Drayton Condensate FreeFlo prevents the condensate pipe from freezing by blowing warm air down the pipe when the temperature outside falls below 5 C. As the weather gets colder, the temperature of the air supplied to the pipe increases. This means that your energy is not wasted: the Drayton Condensate FreeFlo uses the right amount of energy to prevent the condensate water from freezing in the pipe.
